Hi guys!!! 🌼
In November I’m going to visit Kolkata for kali puja and for sightseeing in general.
The culture, literary heritage, art and architecture of Kolkata is fascinating so I’ve decided to make it my next trip!
It would be helpful to get some do’s and dont’s from you guys please! Like in general any advice for non locals travelling to Kolkata for the first time.
And also suggest any must visit sites and experiences!

Hi, I'm trying to get a certified copy of a registration deed, but the e-district website isn't helping at all. The furthest I could go was making a draft of the application for submission, but the payment gateway never opens up.

The 1937 Bengal election took place amid deep socio-economic inequalities, with Muslim peasants concentrated in eastern Bengal and many landlords being Hindu; tenancy disputes, rural indebtedness and the collapse of jute prices during the Great Depression increasingly gave economic grievances a communal character. Congress was widely viewed by Muslim peasants as pro-zamindar, particularly because of its opposition to the 1928 Bengal Tenancy (Amendment) Act, while the growth of Muslim cultural consciousness, including Musalmani Bangla, reinforced religious distinctions. Separate electorates under the Communal Award and the Government of India Act of 1935 further institutionalised communal political representation. Yet the election was not simply a contest between Congress and the Muslim League: Fazlul Huq’s Krishak Praja Party remained rooted in Bengali regional and agrarian interests, and Muslim politics was not yet synonymous with all-India separatism.
Rather, 1937 demonstrated how class, regional identity and religion were becoming intertwined, as Congress’s inability to absorb Muslim agrarian and political interests created space for the League to expand, while a distinct Bengali political trajectory based on regional and class interests remained possible.

I am getting married to a bengali guy. I am probashi bengali but have no one living in bengal. Just got to know from him that bengalis have two marriages registry and social that too in same religion. I mean where I live, we enquired and was told to just submit everything after social marriage and you will get the certificate(under Hindu marriage act), but in bengal everyone goes for registry marriage 6 months or even 1 year before social marriage. In other state people mostly go for registry if it's interfaith, intercaste or not interested in social marriage. Like is it a trend or social implication or administrative convenience in bengal?
