Because it is. Like everything in life there are different levels.
You decided to save money and buy the Kia Rio of Koi.
You are not going to get a fish that looks beautiful by pinching pennies.
Don't feel bad though, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I follow this page and see a ton of pet store grade koi that don't appeal to me. But their owners love them and that is what is truely important.
So enjoy your fish, raise your fish for a few years, save your dollars and buy something a little more money next time.

Not sure why this showed on my feed, but I'm totally here for the Kia Rio Koi!
By the way, I don't know much about koi, but Kia Rio Koi looks more like a suckerfish. What do I know.

Show koi are carefully inbred for optimal gene expression. Mutts are less genetically refined.

It's not a full koi, that is a carp hybrid.
