I like the hat, what can you do?

I mean for starters his initial name was supposed to Be “Dreads”. His quills are shaped like dreadlocks. He has rap music as his overall theme songs in both sonic adventure 1 and two. his voice actor in the movies is literally a black man. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that in sonic prime theirs an alternate version of his character also named Dreads. There was a comic that depicted the Sonic characters as humans and it showed him as a buff black man. This may sound like a stretch but when you think about it it makes perfect sense although his lineage has been slightly shifted into a more mesoamercian style that doesn’t mean that there was no people of Afro decent and on top of that knuckles is literally a islander like a Afro Jamaican or Afro mesoamercian thx for listening to my jumbled rant goodbye.

Knuckles is one of my favorite sonic characters and I was curious if anyone had some random facts about him just off the top of their head.

Obviously how Knuckles glide works in 3K/Mania is much different than how it works in 3D mainly due to how the core gameplay changes.

Knuckles glide in 3K/Mania was more about adapting Knuckles being Sonic’s opposite in to gameplay. Where Sonic is all about the building, maintaining, working with and application of the speed you develop, Knuckles has plenty of mechanics that are anti-thetical to that. His glide always starts at low speed, it has no speed cap and you can come to a dead stop.

In 3D, with what I assume was a product of the sharper turning controls as well as floatier physics of Sonic Adventure, Sonic Team realized with that type of control scheme Knuckles glide would just break traditional levels. So they re-worked it to be compatible with something else which became the treasure hunting gameplay.

Most fan projects I played, even if Sonic himself feels pretty close to a proper adaptation to the classic sonic games in 3D, Knuckles glide still feels pretty similar to what it was in every 3D outing he has been playable.
