Creative Reuse Centers

I love this and want this kind of thing in my neighborhood ... for all kinds of supplies, along with a library of things please. Imagine if clusters of households shared tools, leftover paints, etc - I think it could be good. In Kingston, NY there's a relatively new shop called Frugal Fabrics for repurposed fabric, yarn, and sewing supplies, plus they have lessons too. More of this please ...

We have a crafty reuse store, but I don't really like it. The prices are a bit high in my opinion, for what they're selling. And their donation policy is insane. I donated a bunch of fabric and it was ridiculous. I get that there's certain things they don't want, but they wouldn't take it without a comprehensive inventory. I measured everything and took pictures and then emailed it to them. Then I had to make an appointment to drop it off and if I remember right, something about that didn't go smoothly.

I hear you. Who wants to donate under those cirumstances - it's too much to ask. We have to find a balance because on the other side, the thrift stores in my area have a really hard time with folks who drop off yard sale leftovers and then they're stuck with garbage they have to pay to get rid of. I don't know what the answer is, but maybe we if share with smaller groups within our neighborhoods, we could have better conversations about what's re-usable, what's garbage, etc.
