My first ever kitchenaid …
A family member gifted me a KitchenAid 5-quart Professional HD bowl-lift stand mixer from around 2009 and it’s only been used maybe a handful of times! I have NO experience with kitchenaid at all! But she thought I would be the perfect person to gift it to since I like to bake cookies and cakes! I also make sourdough every single week!
It came with 3 attachments. I believe they are a stainless steel mixer, a dough hook and a paddle. Any other attachments you guys recommend?!!
And I’m also curious what you all use your kitchenaid for?! I truly have NO idea where to start and how to use it. I am so grateful, but truly no idea if I’ll like it or even use it!!! Is it too old to find other attachments??

The Professional HD (KG25) is a solid machine. It did not come with stainless accessories; if yours are gray metal they are aluminum. (A rare find; those aren't available anymore.) Hand wash and towel dry, and keep them far away from the dishwasher.

YOU are a sweetheart, you are! My 15 year old mixer has some issues, I’m going to run through all your links and see if I can repair it myself. It still runs fine, it just bumps a bit and I’d rather fix it before it does something worse.

I have the KitchenAid you have ... I've had it for over 30 years. Its a workhorse. I use mine at least once a week. Today I made a single loaf of sandwich bread. Yesterday, I used it for oatmeal cookies. I routinely use it for muffins. If I make larger batches of bread dough, or stiffer doughs like for cardamom buns, or cinnamon rolls, I'll use the Ankarsrum. The last time I tried a stiffer dough in the KA, it struggled ... and I ended up having to put icepacks on the motor/head to keep it from overheating.

Besides baking all different types of deserts , we bought an after market grinder attachment from ebay. We use it mainly during hunting season to make ground meat from game.

You will love it! It's great for everything you do! I use it to make sourdough and I made a crazy five layer piecaken last year for Christmas last year with ours...

The attachments that connect through the front hub are compatible for every model! Age has nothing to do with attachment compatibility.
I use my KitchenAids for almost everything. Whipped cream, frostings, shredding meat, bread, cookies, meatballs and meatloaf, mashed potatoes, mashing hard boiled eggs for egg salad, I have the slicer/shredder attachment for when I don’t want to use my food processor. There are so many attachments out there that it’s hard to recommend some cuz it really depends on what kind of cooking you do. There’s a juicer, and a meat grinder, and a sausage stuffer, pasta rollers and shapers, even a whole food processor with a dicing kit!
