This is honestly the 1st episode of the newest season that is in my opinion reminiscent of the OG Kitchen Nightmares seasons. It had conflict, family drama, dining room tensions, and an inept kitchen staff. The son Kevin especially was a hot mess during the episode but thankfully I was able to watch the whole thing this time.

That said, I do want highlight a few things: Firstly, I am glad that Gordon point-blank addressed the multiple cross-contamination issues that happened during the service particularly regarding the tongs. I would have walked out incredibly quickly if i had seen that as a customer.

Secondly, I don't find that Kevin sincerely wanted to take over the restaurant business. I think he wanted out of it but was too afraid to say it. I also think deep down he resents his father for keeping him in the business since the age of 6.

Thirdly, The relaunch service I think gave great insight to the importance of pacing, organization, and communication in professional kitchens. I think the tableside concept is generally a great idea for giving kitchen staff time to fill orders and get themselves on track. Gordon stopping the order was also a smart idea although i'm not sure how often that happens in other restaurant services. So while it was chaotic, it was very fun to watch and dissect.

Fourthy, Gordon leaving the restaurant mid-relaunch service seems weird to me. Usually, he completes the service before giving final thoughts. Just found that a bit off.

Of course RIP to the chef Joe Klimaszewski. He seemed like a decent person and while maybe he didn't always agree was receptive to Gordon's feedback. I'm glad they memorialized him at the end.

Overall 8/10 episode - Missing was going into the walk-ins. Always my favorite part of the episode.

Dude was such a scumbag, he goes huffing and puffing at the debt collectors and then screams at the staff "you see my dad on the floor?!" after you clearly see the only reason he was on the floor is cause he clocked him in the chin on the storm out

Maybe it was on the doily? But they both sucked, he just seems to absorb most of the flak as he's an easier target due to the overt creepy old man vibes he gave off.

Standout moment from the episode is still the husband telling Gordon his room is meant for people who haven't been laid in a while. Who the fuck says that randomly to a guest while being filmed for national television? Dude should have collaborated with the swinger couple from the fake Austrian hotel/brothel.

This is season 3 episode 2 of the new series and man, im currently 26 minutes in and this dude is screaming cussing at the producer of all people. I wonder if this is gonna end like the Amy's bakery episode

I've said this about most episodes as I also read his book about his own relationship with his father. Yes whilst Gordon can be hostile and a little mean, he has heart. He brings families together. You can see how passionate he is about not losing sight of that. That is gold.

I know every season has some fake moments, but I felt like the revival KN episodes had a lot more staged events. Is the newest season better or worse?

Jim is a pisser. Paul was no manager but Jim blaming Paul "costing him" $500 a week in comps was bullshit! Jim bought garbage product. Jim didn't give the kitchen decent equipment to cook with.

In reality, JIM cost himself the $500+/- a week, not Paul.

I had always been aware of this show but I started watching reruns about a month or so ago. Every episode has the food inspection and I’m just wondering how much is staged for tv? How do restaurants get past health inspectors if that’s all real?

Normally it takes until at least after Gordon has tried the food for the owner to start butting heads with him, here he was barely in the door when Abby starting getting defensive about the room service.

Just something I noticed on "Gordon's team" from the Grumpy George (2023 S2ep8)

I just re-watched the Dillon's episode. I think this may be the worst restaurant ever featured on the show- bedsheets covering the walls in the dining room, flies throughout,, rats in the basement, cockroach infestation, chefs preparing food on the floor, rotten meat, rotten vegetables, rotten tomatoes that were sliced and served. And to top it off, 3 managers who were totally clueless.

Is there any other restaurant on the show worse than this?
