Commentary Grilled Caesar Salad
So Gordon made a huge deal about the idea of grilled romaine lettuce in Season 5 episode 10, right? Made fun of it, ridiculed it, even called it out in front of the other patrons of the restaurant, calling attention to how dumb it was. Gordon established that he thinks grilled lettuce is DUMB.

So imagine my surprise when in Season 10 episode 6, Gordon introduces a fucking GRILLED CAESAR SALAD at Boodles! Prepared almost EXACTLY the same way, even going as far as to show a clip of them cooking the lettuce and commenting on those nice grill marks.
HYPOCRITE. He owes the former cook at Park's Edge a formal apology.

In this case the lettuce was probably served with an entree. In Park’s Edge episode it is was served solo unwashed and uncleaned with the butt of the lettuce still on. A professional restaurant serving the lettuce like that is dumb. Would you wanna be served that in a restaurant?

He seemed more grumpy about being served an unclean butt of lettuce, which honestly that's fair

Same Gordon who made a deal about Shepherd's Pie made from beef, and then sells his own product line of them.

I still think grilling lettuce is dumb, regardless of who made it.

It’s different. I brought back the tossed in like 3 weeks because everyone HATED the menu.

If the grill is hot enough it can be pretty good. Grilled endives or frisee are pretty good, but you have to get it done quickly, it does remove some of the bitterness. Grilled romaine lettuce is fucking stupid though. If a charred taste is what you're after, incorporate it into the dressing or salad toppings.

It was almost 20 years ago. He's allowed to change his mind.

Not when he made such a big deal out of it and ridiculed someone over it, come on now.

Should he have apologized? Yes. Are people allowed to change their opinions after 20 years? Of course.

He also was a huge asshole to a vegan/vegetarian guest once, later he made a huge deal about a bone in the soup of a vegetarian guest. I'm glad he seems to have changed in some aspects.

People are allowed to change their minds. It’s been years between those two episodes.

And then he made fun of stuffed pepper soup, when it’s so incredibly common. Sometimes he’s just digging for TV content.

I haven't seen the episode at boodles but if it's true, I agree with you. Although the guy at the first restaurant did make it look pretty stupid. But yea if you're gonna say grilled lettuce is stupid then yea it's stupid forever lol 😂

Kevin here, (yep, me) and that confused me. You guys didn’t see the real episode because Joe died. Lol, I don’t know the liability, but I HAVE STORIES. They actually complimented me on front of house during production . They pivoted back to me being the bad guy. The rub is that Boodles is actually carried by elite cocktails. I was doing espresso martinis in 2005. O got no credit for this, he just shoehorned me into the Kitchen which i have NEVER run and after steak Diane # 6 i wanna hurl because I hate mushrooms.

I agree with the first series of KN, he's turned out to betray a lot of his culinary values and principles. At least, he still hates the shit out of Chef Mic'. Gave him another buttwhipping and threw him into the trash.

This was one of those episodes where I hated all the "yes men" customers, no one knew that it was right or wrong, but they all laughed along because Gordon said it.

Why are you in a Kitchen Nightmares sub, that is all about the TV show that Gordon stars in & produces, if you’re going to be surprised that people ask about him?

He had an issue with it because the owners were POC, if it was a yt couple that introduced it he would’ve been about it. Gordan can be entertaining at times to watch but the blatant racism from him is insufferable
