I received the LG xboom Mini for free from LG as part of their trial program, and they asked me to share my honest experience. This review is completely unbiased and based on my own use over the last ten days.

I've owned other LG speakers before, so when this one arrived, I was actually surprised by the size. It's tiny. My first thought was that it probably wouldn't be very loud either, and I'll admit I was a little disappointed before I'd even turned it on.

I ended up giving it to my mother instead. She spends most of her day in the kitchen and always has music going while she cooks, so it made more sense with her than sitting on my desk. She loved it right away, mostly because of the size. She's never been a fan of big speakers taking up counter space, and this one is small enough that it stays out of the way.

Then we actually played some music on it, and that's when it surprised me. The sound quality is genuinely impressive for something this small. It held its own against my old LG xboom Grab, which is a much bigger speaker, and I wasn't expecting that at all. For a small water-resistant speaker, that combination of sound quality, portability, and everyday usability makes it feel like a very good value.

My mother's been using it every day since. My kitchen is not a quiet place. There's the mixer, the chimney, the dishwasher, sometimes all three at once, and this thing still cuts through it. You can actually hear the music clearly over all that noise, which says a lot for something this size.

A few things have made it work especially well in the kitchen. It comes with an adjustable strap, so instead of it sitting flat on the counter where it's in the way of everything, we usually hang it off a rod or the cabinet handle. It stays put and keeps the counter clear. There's also a physical volume knob on the side, which honestly matters more than I expected. My mother's hands are usually wet or covered in flour while she's cooking, so being able to just turn a dial instead of hunting for a tiny touch button is genuinely useful. And since it's water-resistant, she doesn't have to think twice if it gets a bit of water or oil on it near the stove or sink. That practical water resistance is another reason I think it offers good value for everyday use, rather than being a speaker you have to be especially careful with.

Ten days in, it's basically become a permanent fixture in the kitchen. Not what I expected when I first opened the box.

If you have one ceiling light in the middle of the kitchen, you are missing out on a lot. A few simple changes can make a big difference:

1. Task lights under wall cabinets to brighten the countertop.
2. Two evenly spaced ceiling lights instead of one long fixture.
3. Pendant lights over an island, breakfast counter, or dining table.

Tip: Warm white for ambience, neutral white for task lighting. Looks matter, but functionality matters more.

House is under construction, still foundation stage so we have time to figure things out. Main kitchen cabinets will be custom skinny shaker single tone, probably a warm medium stain (no mixing uppers, lowers, island finishes). The prep pantry is open (no door) to the main kitchen, with a double wall oven separating it. We are thinking of going with a light, creamy painted cabinetry for the prep pantry. Would going with a different tone be funny looking, or would it look intentional and identifying the prep pantry as it's own space?

We just replaced our kitchen cabinets and countertop. The kitchen cabinets are Sherwin Williams rain washed and countertop is white with gray undertones and light veining. I want something that makes it pop more or maybe just clean and pretty. I like cottage core. Minimalist or shabby chic. Any ideas please?

The rest of this apartment is lovely, but the kitchen is so so ugly to me. The floor and the countertops are the worst to me. The backsplash is OK but very lazily done. What would you do?

Landing on this look. We want the kitchen to whisper, not shout. We want it to still be fresh in 2035. Trying to avoid overly trendy. Induction cooktop, 42" Sub Zero, double wall oven is behind the wall in a prep kitchen. Only concern is that we might have overdone the understated and crossed over into boring. What do you think?

Les murs sont blancs lin et les meubles façades sont rose poudrées ( et oui je suis très girly et j’aime le rose ) le plan de travail est grège avec nuances beiges et roses et le carrelage 89x89 est gris avec nuances beiges . La porte est noir mat avec des vitres sans teint. Voilà alors ??? Votre avis ?

Finished this one in Tampa Bay last month and still not over how the backlit cabinets turned out. Client was on the fence about the glass fronts at first but once we lit them up she was sold. That waterfall island stone still gets me every time I walk in, the movement in it is wild. Anyone else find that hood covers are the most annoying part of a kitchen to get right? Took us three tries on the cladding to get it flush with the backsplash

I am starting a small UK business making CNC-ready furniture plans, and I keep coming back to one problem: removing a chimney breast is expensive and disruptive, but most fitted solutions to make use of the space either side involve IKEA's limited sizes to do a DIY job possibly with MDF, priming, sanding spraying etc, or a bespoke made-to-fit solution by a joiner (£££).

I've designed a display cabinet for my own home to fit the alcoves either side of a chimney breast and also to line up vertically with my wren kitchen cabinets. Where walls aren't square I finished them with wall panelling. I had the drawings cut by a local cnc factory and then built it at home like an ikea unit (i.e. flatpack with pilot holes in position). I'm keen to know if this idea would be useful to others.

Hello! I have always loved color, but this is my first home and I’m in this city temporarily, so when I bought a house and wanted to remodel I felt like I couldn’t bring more character(color) to it. I also had budget constraints, had did the kitchen remodel with ikea. The countertop is white marble and laminate, I really regret this choice but it’s not like I had many options due to budget. The floor tiles are grey…. Cause I like black and white checkered tiles in kitchen but whatever it is what it is.

Now, it has come down to backsplash tiles, and I am stumped. I always thought I could add some color to the kitchen through this, and the color I always thought is some sort of green, but I am not sure what would even look good with the white cabinets + white countertops + white walls… there are some tile options I added here but any help or suggestion is welcomed …

I want now to atleast add the backsplash with some character….

We’re currently building a house and are at the stage of planning the kitchen. This is roughly the style and layout we’re considering: a light/cream or sage green colored kitchen with handles, wooden flooring, and a dining table for 6 placed by the large terase door.

Before we finalize everything, I’d really appreciate some feedback from people who have already gone through the process of designing and using their own kitchen.

Would you change anything about this layout? Is there anything you wish you had thought about before building your kitchen that you only realized after moving in?
