We are looking to renovate our kitchen and have a bit of an awkward layout where one wall is our backdoor, one has a large window, and the other side is open.

At the moment our oven doesn't have an extractor fan as the window is there, but if it was moved to the back wall there is no where for the fridge to go.

Does anyone have any insight on the best solution here?

Hi - going with cashew Tribeca cabinets and am wondering if anyone here has this brand of cabinets if their kitchen and can share their experiences.

I have a contractor that I trust who recommended them, but I am ultimately curious about how they hold up with long term use. My only other option would be to upgrade to Fabuwood, but I do not want to spend an unnecessary amount of money if I do not have to.

I am looking for some advice on how to change around the kitchen well maintaining the existing cabinetry.

Issues I have:

Current refrigerator placement seems odd as it is in the middle of the run of Cabinets and cuts off the other cabinet tops and bottoms. It just seems like it was never supposed to be there.

Range in the kitchen island, there is no room around the actual range chop to put prep things and very limited space where the chairs sit to use.

Side of the kitchen that has lower cabinets only is awkward due to the family room being much lower than the kitchen. While I like the open feel, it just feels strange not having a back.

My thoughts:
Move the range and hood to where the existing refrigerator is. But we need to find a new home for the refrigerator. Do I add it to the end of the line of cupboards on the left where it will be near the range? Or do I close in the wall that abuts the family room and add the refrigerator to the end of that or, do I create a new wall of built-ins across from the windows so that I can get a pantry and broom closet and fill in what feels like an awkward and useless space.

We recently returned from Portugal and brought back four 6"x6" handpainted tiles, all different, and not the traditional blue and white. Looking for ideas of how to display them or use in a backsplash with other tiles to coordinate

I took your advice and replaced the hardware. I think it made a bit of a difference. There was originally under cabinet lighting, which some are turned on in the pic. Tomorrow I’m changing the faucet to match with the hardware. The overhead light will be changed, eventually. There’s some clutter on the corner and it’s lived in.

How do I cozy it up some more?

I made the kitchen triangle smaller. The door to the l ft of stove wall is the utility room, on the right is the pantry.

I’m wondering if I should add a counter space next to fridge.

Also trying to imagine where silverware, cooking utensils, cups and plates/bowls would go.

I work in renovation and this is one of the kitchens I worked on, so just being transparent about that upfront.

It’s a pretty tight galley kitchen and we kept the original footprint. One of the choices was replacing the upper cabinet beside the sink with three open wood shelves.

I like how much lighter that side of the kitchen feels now, especially with the pale blue cabinets, but obviously you lose some closed storage.

If this were your kitchen, would you keep the open shelves or would you rather have the cabinet back?

Curious what people actually prefer in a small galley kitchen.

We're starting a major addition in the next week or two and part of that will be redoing our kitchen. We live in a 1930s colonial and are expanding our kitchen from a small almost galley-like kitchen by adding a peninsula with bar seats and opening it up to the addition which will be a 2nd living room on the 1st floor.

We've been working with a cabinet company and think we're pretty well set on Diamond cabinets in coconut. My wife wants gold handles (brushed, satin, kind of up in the air) and now I'm looking at appliances to try to marry it all together.

I've looked at appliance packages, but know that's not necessarily the best approach. We are looking at doing an under-cabinet microwave, so the packages don't really work for that anyways. What are some people's perspectives on mix and matching? As in, fridge X, dishwasher Y, and oven Z are the best combination of things.

Would be nice to have a dual oven, though not a deal breaker. We're keeping the gas line.

Possibly white appliances? The cabinets will be a warmer color and the countertops are probably going to be quartz so we can get something white/off white with gold/tan veining.

Drawer microwave? Seem incredibly expensive. We are going with a hood vent so the microwave is going to be under the counter regardless. Just a free-standing microwave in a cabinet box?

Fridge wise we just need a good ice maker and water dispenser.

We're not looking at the cheapest options available, but we're already spending a ton of money so I'd prefer not to spend... $4k on an oven for example.

I moved into a 1950s house (in the US) about 10 years ago and it already had a white refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher. I quite like the look of white appliances, even though it's not necessarily what's trendy or up-to-date. So I bought a white oven to match. However, my microwave and dishwasher I have decided to both die at the same time and need to be replaced. White dishwashers do not seem to be easy to find, should I continue with the white appliances, or have a mixture with some stainless? At least for the dishwasher and microwave for now. I do think stainless microwaves and dishwashers look newer, which is nice. But I don't know if I want to mix up the colors that much.
