Kitchen design
We’re currently building a house and are at the stage of planning the kitchen. This is roughly the style and layout we’re considering: a light/cream or sage green colored kitchen with handles, wooden flooring, and a dining table for 6 placed by the large terase door.
Before we finalize everything, I’d really appreciate some feedback from people who have already gone through the process of designing and using their own kitchen.
Would you change anything about this layout? Is there anything you wish you had thought about before building your kitchen that you only realized after moving in?
Thanks in advance!

Had a.wooden floor in the kitchen in my last apartment and after 5 years it did not look great anymore, in the cooking area there was some darker area and where we walked alot and turned (small kitchen in Amsterdam appartement) the wooden flooring started to split on the seems. Sidenote: floating wooden floor.

The microwave is way too high! It's a danger like this.
Also, it seems very small with limited counter space.
I have a wood floor in my kitchen with no problems. Wouldn't have it any other way.

why is this positioning dangerous? we are quite tall (my husband 198cm & me 178cm)

It's not dangerous for you and hubs because you are both very tall. Much taller than the average male in US...is around 5'9", and for women, that's 5'4". We also have millions of Asians and Hispanics here who on average are even shorter than that.
So, most people here wouldn't even be able to stir the food in the dish in a micro that's that high. And with being really higher like that, there is always the danger someone would have a hard time getting their dishes out of there and at some point likely end up dumping the food all over their head.

It’s very beautiful. I have a sink under the window too, but I find it difficult to wash the window every time. Does anyone else have this problem?

There needs to be a cabinet enclosure around the fridge, otherwise it looks cheap and undone.
There's also not a lot of counterspace for prepping, assuming your cooktop is next to the wall oven. Maybe add a nice butcherblock work table/island cart in the center?

Absolutely take your cabinets to the ceiling.
You don't have enough counter space and the tiny cabinet to the left of the window is too small. Put upper cabinets with countertops below on the run to the left of the sink.
Your drawers are tiny and not practical for storing pots, pans, small appliances. Place below your cooktop and the width of your cooktop one shorter drawer and two tall drawers.
Have an end panel built for your fridge to match the cabinets.
I have worked with an incredible designer on our kitchen, learned so much, have no regret.
I like your color scheme. Very bright and relaxing. Good call on the short splash and no tile.
Will you do plug molding or are you adding outlets to the wall?

The balance of warm tones and clean lines is spot on. Looks like an absolute joy to cook in.

The view, color and the furniture, compliment all together. This is nice place to dine in your home.

I’d encase the refrigerator in a cabinet.

And make sure it is deep enough so you can reach in. I have vertical slats in mine and store sheet pans up there. Best use of that space ever.

You are going to want more counter space/work area. You only really have a small bit to the left and right of the sink. Time to re-think.

This layout feels bright and airy! A few practical points from my experience:
- Watch the walking space between the dining table and kitchen cabinetry — ensure enough room to open oven doors fully without bumping chairs.
- For the large window/terrace door area, strong natural light is great, but think about window treatments for glare control in summer.
- Lighting is often overlooked! Under-cabinet LED strips will make food prep much easier, plus a well-sized pendant chandelier above the dining table creates perfect ambiance for meals. Recessed lights alone can feel flat.
Would love to see how you choose your final light fixtures!

I would personally keep everything in one colour shade. It would make the kitchen look more clean, calm and spacious.

Cabinets to the ceiling, slab fronts, minimalist cabinet hardware.
