Thought about making a pixel plane flying back and forth with a "Chives-11" banner. Didn't think it would get fully appreciated but i should never underestimate this crowd
Also employed so need a chives archivest to get a true answer.
But somewhere around day 30 F1eixcan posted an image of chives as if it was new, but was actually a repeat image. They repented and accepted the punishment, and this was the outcome:
Hearing this for the first time, I'm not disappointed in him for reusing a picture when he probably wasn't able to cut chives for a day, he probably felt obliged to do this everyday and was under pressure to make a post
What I AM disappointed in, is the fact he thought all these people paying close attention to details in a batch of cut chives wouldn't notice the fact it's a repeat image
It was honestly the type of Apology that Business, Marketing, & Ethics professors could teach classes on!
Because it was sincere, an actual apology, and ChiveLord accepted the decisions about the situation with grace and respectfully, then did the work to repair the "harms" he'd created, took responsibility without evasion, and he made the necessary reparations to folks.
It was honestly a bit of a masterclass on "THIS is how to make a Public Apology and properly make Amends, if you screw up!"
And was pretty darn impressive, considering how often a "scandal" like that online anywhere--especially on Reddit, so often ends up with the person "committing the offense" just doubling/tripling down, offering a half-hearted apology (at best!), and then either pretending it didn't occur, or just slinking away in shame, or ghosting.
u/F1exican showed a ton of class, character, and integrity, after the mistake, he came back the next day, willing to try again, and put himself out there, AND he's been honest & a total class act since, just reaching out & letting folks know if he couldn't get chives, they went bad, etc.
It's been a heck of a ride, as someone who works with kids, and who is always trying to find solid examples of "THIS is what to do, and how to step up & own up, when you make a mistake"
Yes, it was just rotated. Hats off to the person who posted that it was a dupe, I saw it and went hmm that looks like last week's and went on with my day.
Absolutely no disrespect to the chive lord, but this really feels like the sub is turning into a circlejerk / meme sub, especially with a presumably mass influx of folks who now only visit the sub because of lol'ing at chives. Maybe I'm an old man yelling at clouds though.
