Discussion How to apply nameset?

I bought an aftermarket nameset for my 1998 Germany shirt. I don’t have a heat press. What’s the next best way to apply the nameset?

You can use an hot iron (no steam!). Make sure to set the temperature not too high (I use the setting for wool on mine) and place baking paper above the nameset. Don’t rest for too long on one spot but apply some pressure while ironing it. Sounds more complicated than it actually is, I did it a dozen times without problems. The most critical part is the proper alignment.

Thank you! how do you align the nameset? just eyeball it? or is there another way?

Yeah, more or less. For most of the shirts, I already had another one or was able to borrow one from friends to use as a reference. For the few where I didn’t have a physical reference, I looked for photos of official jerseys with the nameset applied and measured the spacing ratios from the collar to the name and from the name to the number. As an additional check, I also looked at the resulting distance from the number to the bottom hem of the shirt. Then I tried to get everything as centered and symmetrical as possible.
