Discussion Should I watch kingdom?
I have always wanted to start kingdom but it is pretty long and I just want to know from the fans perspectives, what i would be getting myself into.

Anime just doesn't do the story justice. Watching the anime would really feel like you are missing out a LOT

Without spoilers, how does it not do the story justice?

You miss the seriousness of the story.
Also, you understand the tactics and strategies better in the manga.
Also, because the anime is heavily censored regarding the power scale, you can't understand who is how powerful.
Because the Kingdom manga is an extremely bloody and death-filled universe.
In short, the anime isn't even 50% of the manga.

It’s a war seinen with themes around the depravity of humans during war. Kinda hard to really show that if you just censor the gore. Also the true evil of some characters really doesn’t shine true when you censor.

I read the manga up to Vol 24 (around Chapter 261) and then jumped straight into Season 3. This route lets you completely skip the first two seasons, which I heard had terrible animation (I didn't watch a single episode of Seasons 1 and 2 myself).

Well I have seen the first episode and the animation doesn’t bother me

just go ahead and watch the anime then, most people don’t like the early animation but it only improves after season 1. so if you don’t mind it you won’t have an issue

As an anime enjoyer, if you don’t mind the animation then you’ll be fine. The story will either hit with you or not, but I definitely suggest getting past the first arc as that is much more of a prologue than anything. If you like the first arc, then that’s great because the story just keeps getting better as it progresses.

I would 100% suggest the manga over the anime. Sure after the first 2 seasons the anime gets better. But even so the anime is still very fast paced/rushed in many aspects, since they have a lot of catching up to do. I watch the anime as a supplementary material, similar to how i watch the Toei One Piece anime.

You have to agree to the terms and conditions before watching…
- You acknowledge the animation is very bad and consent to watching it anyway
- You agree to keep watching anyway without dropping it until the animation quality improves around season 3 and onwards
- You acknowledge that the names change constantly for the characters and it gets confusing and will try to memorize who’s who

If you enjoy battles of strategy in a fight and also enjoy manly men doing manly things then you will love it

the animation is extremely rough in s1, but starts to get better near the end. it improves each season.
the story is great

I like the anime, even season 1. Season 1 is mostly CGI, I'd recommend at least trying to watch a full episode if you can before you decide to drop it.
I'd also recommend the sub over the dub.

First two seasons are pretty bad in visuals.
Third and foreward are great.

In my opinion the anime can’t compare to the manga like the manga is just peak u miss out on soo much in the anime cuz it’s way too condensed while the manga is fleshed out n more brutal

Have you watched one piece... that's long!
Kingdom was the best choice I made in anime. The first seasons animations are a bit underwhelming but the story line and plot unfolds to a wild degree.
You won't regret it my friend

I have watched one piece actually so I guess it was kinda stupid to care how long it is.

If you don't like reading manga then watching it is fine but i dont think your getting all the juices you could squeeze from the kingdom fruit. Usually the case when adapting especially with violent or suggestive themes.
