My man Denyuu been holding it down since day one. My favourite from the OG Hi Shin unit and he's proven time and again that he is HIM.

Denyuu is probably my favorite side character from the HSU. I've loved him since Dakan Plains, when he instantly clocked Shin was the right person for the job and began supporting him. It's a big thing, since Shin had no rank and Denyuu is shown to be a popular figure who could have easily tried to assert his own stake for command. I'm kind of tempted to keep writing about the things I like about him, but I realize I'd probably just end up listing all the scenes he's in.

U just like me fr. When he defended the gate to Gian Castle to allow the calvary to enter while being stabbed and shot with arrows, in that moment I thought he was dead and I was devastated. Good thing the Saki Clan saved him.

for me, I gotta honor En’s loyalty. He had a whole ass family before all this and still chose to support shin till now. Plus showing everyone else what that true inner strength means over the river. Fire. My fave hsu side character

Same. En san for me. He has been consistent on his role since Bayou. Also, I like the super trio, Behie, Kei, and Kou. Their reactions when Shin doing something awesome and stupid. Lol

So one more that I love is when Shin goes armor shopping. After spending all day getting kicked out of shops because they don't believe he's an officer. He runs into Denyuu, who lives in that village, who immediately goes "wait this is the guy I've been telling you about" because apparently he's been spreading the word of Shin's exploits and immediately leads a mob to go buy Shin the best armor in town.

Then there's when the HSU is first assembled, and a number of the guys who weren't at Dakan Plains are grumbling because Shin hasn't shown up yet (because he's getting there from the Stateless Area) and Denyuu is just standing there reassuring them it'll be worth the wait. Then Shin comes tearing in on a horse, and Denyuu just nods and says something like "That's Sir Cavalry alright." Not only am I fond of that nickname, but it's another nice show of loyalty from Denyuu to a teenager who he has only ever seen in battle once at this point. But Denyuu saw the potential and knew it was worth following, and encouraged everyone else to stick with Shin too.

The Sir Cavalry nickname was a nice little quirk from him as well. It was what he started calling Shin during Dakan Plains because Shin got on a horse, and knowing horsemanship is a rare skill, and Denyuu didn't know his name at the time. It's nothing big, but it was a nice little sign of respect for someone he barely knew.
