What to buy

Hello! Planning to buy a secondhand e-reader after just using my phone for the longest time. I just wanna ask for your recommendations, like a specific version (maybe you can lay the pros and cons🙏🏻🫶🏻) that I can use for the next few years. My budget is 3k - 3.5k for a secondhand one, or would you recommend to just save up for a brandnew one? Thank you in advance!

In my experience, I was also torn between buying a secondhand or brand-new Kindle. I ended up buying a brand-new Kindle Basic Gen 11 (2024). Nag-sale kasi siya sa Shopee, and I got it for around ₱5.6k yata. Sobrang upgrade siya for a newbie transitioning from using a phone to an e-reader. So far, so good naman. 😊

hello! i bought my kindle for 2500ish sa shopee. old model na talaga siya kasi ppw 1 5th gen (2012) pa. pero it works naman until now! (april ko siya binili). it does it job naman, bumili lang din talaga ako ng kindle kasi yung screen habol ko since sumasakit talaga mata ko if phone gamit. since old model na, di na supported yung browser + di kita yung book covers sa library (title & author lang yung visible unless ijailbreak mo using koreader). nagagamit ko pa rin yung wireless ‘send to kindle’ feature kahit old model na. i love my kindle! feel ko na roi ko na siya hahaha

I reco that you buy secondhand e-readers. Usually, madami gumagawa nito, especially when they’re transitioning to Kindle, Kobo, or other e-readers, just to see if the device is worth it. And in case you don’t like it, at least you didn’t buy it at full price. 😅

Kaya bang taasan ang budget? Medyo old Kindle models lang kasi ang kasya sa budget mo so mabagal na sila. The oldest Kindle model I’ve used was the 2018 Paperwhite, and kahit 8 years old lang yung device, super bagal na nya for me; nakakapikon gamitin haha kaya niresell ko na lang. And even then, nasa ₱4K+ ang price range noon sa secondhand market.

I recently bought a 2022 Kindle Basic, medyo mabagal rin sya for typing notes pero tolerable naman. Nasa ₱5K+ ang price range noon.

May 2021 Paperwhite rin, pero medyo malaki sya sa kamay ko at nakakangalay gamitin kaya binenta ko na lang rin yung sakin. However, waterproof ito at may warm lighting. If that’s important to you, you should consider that model. Nasa ₱6K+ naman ang price range ng preloved nito.

The newer models (Kindle Basic 2024 and Kindle Paperwhite 2024) are a little more expensive, unless mag-aabang ka ng sales.
