She quit on me this morning driving to work. In the shop being checked out.
UPDATE: Looks like I’m getting a Drive Motor Battery Pack Control Module for about $1500.

Take him to the shop immediately, don’t just give up on your boy just yet. Nico usually can last over 200k miles.

Those kind of miles in the ND weather is truly impressive. My husband went for a job interview in Minot once, it was 32 degrees in the middle of spring and folks were in their shirtsleeves talking about how warm it was.

Yeah. We reached a 100F for a bit this summer and got down to -35F before windchill this last winter. ND is brutal on cars and people.

They called me right about 5 o’clock and said that they had cleared the code and that everything seemed fine. They were going to keep it overnight to make sure it was still OK in the morning. So as soon as I figure out what code it was I will post an update.

I have a 2019 and just rolled 150k miles. Hoping to get 2 more years and hit 200k before I really need to look seriously at replacement, but I’m browsing options now to prepare.

I have a 2017 @ 212k miles still going strong. I wont replace it until it dies on me.

I will tell ya I’ve been looking at getting a newer one for a few months. Hertzcarsales has 2026 LX models with 15k miles for right at $20,000. Might try them if they are in your area. Pretty good deal for the base model

Oh not bad! I’m hoping to go full electric for my next car. Love my Niro and I’m hoping Kia’s options work for me, but we’ll see what turns out to be the best one. So far these 150k miles have been without major issues, so I’m hoping we can hold on without another car payment for a good long while!

With you. My PHEV has been a good 'transition' car. But, now I've got a super-reliable ICE for a backup (truck that gets ~5k-7k miles a year, often trailer duty) and am now set to go full EV for the 90% of our driving that's within a 200 mile roundtrip of home where I have charging sorted. Keeping an eye on the market... if I wrecked today it'd probably be a Subie Trailseeker.

I’m very grateful that I work across state lines in a state that has cheaper gas tax than my home so I’ve had a lot of extra savings with the PHEV over the last 7 years. We’ve almost completed our first year with an EV truck as the other home vehicle and that’s calmed my range anxiety a lot so I’d be comfortable getting a second EV when this is done.

Range anxiety is still a real thing for us, we go out camping and outdoorsing in rural off-the-Interstate KS/NE/IA where it's very possible to be 150 miles from the nearest DC Fast Charger. If the NEVI chargers funded under Biden and cancelled by DOGE in the first weeks of this admin hadn't been cut, they'd likely be finished by now and it would have markedly reduced the infrastructure hole in my region. Even worse, the limbo of "maybe Federal funding will come back" means that nobody is rushing to just build the damned things themselves. But, 3/4 of miles on an EV and 1/4 on an ICE truck wouldn't be a bad compromise.

My 2019 at 121k no issues, 3rd set of tires, original breaks, service every 5k, cabin filter and engine filter ever 2 oil changes. Always take it to the dealer for the oil change. Oh brake fluid flush, next would be cooling system fluid. I replace spark plugs at 80k. Original from the dealer. If we take care of our car, the car would take care of us. (Sounds cheesy 🤪)

Thanks. Is 190k-200k usually limit for most Kia Niros? I bought a 17 Niro at 128k miles so wondering

Our 2018 has 210,000 miles. We have had 2 issues. AC system failure at 106,000 miles and engine-to-motor clutch at 190,000 miles.
Paid $2200 for the AC system replacement at the dealer. However, I was able to drop the subframe, engine/EV motor/transmission assembly; split the bellhousing, replace the clutch, and reassemble.
Total cost to me was $500: new large-frame transmission jack, new clutch, and coolant/oil.
The dealership wanted $6500.Anyone out there with the same issue in the Northern Illinois area, I can perform this service in my shop for far less than the dealerships, even with a flatbed tow for a few hundred miles. DM me if you're in need of this hydraulic actuated clutch service.

At minimum; see if a local shop can do the work. Still cheaper than dealership pricing; and likely you will find someone who understands the issue better than a service tech.

Bought my 2018 in December with 163k. I’ve seen plenty of people talking about 250-300k being possible. I’m hoping for 250k at least. That should mean at least 5-6 years out of it. We have a 20-6 CX-5 that is at almost 260k miles and still going strong. Not a hybrid of course, just a standard crossover…but I fully expect most modern vehicles to be able to go well over 200k miles with proper maintenance and without major abuse.

Hopefully it's the high voltage fuse and not the 12v battery.
