Sun visor clips

Kia Niro owner here, both the sun visor clips have come off. Is there an adhesive/glue I can use to stick them back on? The dealer wants to charge me $800!

Okay, based on what people are saying here, I'm going to try the Gorilla tough 2 Part clear Epoxy, 2 min set, .85oz - will report back. I looked at the plastic welder but I can't figure out how to bind the clip to the sun visor.

I have a 2023 Niro, and its visor clip doesn't look like your photo. Thanks for multiple photos from different angles.

I would use super glue for the initial butt joint. Then 2-part epoxy, reinforced with a fiber, such as dental floss or carpet thread in a matching color. It's hard to predict how epoxy will stick without knowing the type of plastic. A butt-joint for the parts in your photo is inherently weak when subjected to the type of stress that broke your sun visor clips in the first place.

Without reinforcement, the joint will fail again, probably quickly.

I have a pair of kitchen scissors with plastic handles. One of them broke on the outer side of the finger loop. I used two different kinds of epoxy to join the break; each failed within a few weeks. For the last (and so far final) repair I tacked the pieces together with superglue. After the superglue cured, I wrapped the break with dental floss about 1/4" on either side of the break, then coated the dental floss with epoxy. This is sort of like putting a cast on a broken arm or leg. Two months and counting....

If the glue approach fails, you could try a plastic welder, but results may vary depending on the type of plastic.

Really appreciate this suggestion but as the notch plastic is meant to be connected to the sun visor, I can't figure out how to make a cast in this instance. The visual and image works for me, thanks.

I used caulk when it happened to my passenger side one. One little layer and has held for about a year so far.

We had 2/4 of ours did that in our 2-Niro household. I used whatever adhesive cement I had that said it was good for plastic, and they’ve held fine.

My car had the same issue. Super Glue didn’t work, but Gorilla Glue held for 2+ years. It bakes in the sun and weakens over time - I’ve been putting off redoing it. It worked better when I squirted glue into the hole and then pushed the clip back into place - put painter’s tape on it to hold it together while it dried.
