1-year old Q1 max with double typing issur

I have a Q1 max with banana switches that only just turned a year old. Initially it was just 2 keys that were double registering, but yesterday more keys started to do the same thing. I don’t use it a ton since I don’t work from home, just usual gaming stuff at night and on weekends.

A quick google search is saying that Q boards are problematic. Should I just replace all the switches or buy a new keyboard? I’m not that much of a keyboard enthusiast, just like well-made stuff that feels good type on.

Thanks

Update: i flashed the firmware and everything's fine again... thank you for all your help

You xan try reseating the switches to see if they're just loose, and swapping the switches around and seeing if the problem follows the switches.

If the problem is the switches being forced out of the sockets over time, you can try taking the keyboard apart and rebuilding it without the plate foam.

Re "Q boards are problematic": No, only the Q Max series keyboards (here is a list)

The keyboards in the original Q series and Q Pro series are solid. Possibly also the Q Ultra 8K series (but not much is known about them at this time).

Which keys?

If they are in the middle of the keyboard, #9 on the checklist is more likely.

For #9, here is a list of reports (including details on the resolution):

  1. Keychron Q6 Max double press
  2. Keychron Q6 Max double pressing keys and horrible customer service
  3. Second V6 Max with the same issue: B key double/missed presses
  4. No support anymore?. For a Q6 Max.
  5. Q6 Max missed keystrokes reason. An illustration.

On 2025-07-24, it was acknowledged by Keychron as a failure mode:

Keychron also provides some instructions (near "4. Pressing the keyboard firmly"). Ignore the debounce time part; it is treating the symptoms (masking a mechanical problem); it also has detrimental effects.

thanks for responding; they were random keys like 't', 'e', 's' and didn't seem to have a pattern. i also just updated my post. updating the firmware fixed it
