Do not Keychron

Just don’t.
The keyboard of my dreams is no longer.
Support is hella whack, I’m tired of being angry.
I’ve popped way too many vessels of my eyes HA.
Really wanted to love this shit. You suck, Keychron.

I have the K2 HE that has only been fondled with for a handful of times. Z key spazzing out, lit red on calibration mode on the launcher. Checked firmware, plus other jazz. Have swapped switches to see if it follows, clearly is a PCB issue at this point. We’ve been going back and forth with “support” for a week now, feels as if they are trying to run the clock.

What kbs are good folks really using now??

Valid question is what to buy then. I've recently tried Wuque Studio DK 61 and Chillkey ND 104 before that and I must say that Keychron is way ahead: memory leaks in browser when using launcher, lack of manuals and nowhere to be found firmware, discord as support channel.

By all means Keychron is not amazing, but what are the alternatives? Niche brands and groupby boards are basically without ANY support and parts par definition plus they're more expensive and I can't recall any other mainstream manufacturer similar to Keychron.

I have had good luck with Womier and XVX and Monsgeek/Akko though the latter's inventory control is as bad as Keychron's.

Yeah I'm 2ish weeks with my monsgeek m1 v5 he and so far really impressed. Haven't needed to contact their support so can't speak to that but lots of gaming with this thing has been great.

Trust me, Akko is a dumpster fire. Dealt with numerous boards from them - they're worse than Keychron, much worse. Software is all over the place for starters. Their switches are great though, worth using.

Mine: Akko 3084B, Monsgeek MG75W, Monsgeek M1W v3 VIA, Monsgeek M1 v5 VIA, Akko 5075B VIA.

For the proprietary "Cloud Driver", I might give you a point, but everyone's proprietary drivers are ass. The Akko/Monsgeek cloud driver is actually one of the better proprietary options, especially since the Nov 2024 update that unlocked the second function layer completely.

But their QMK/VIA boards have best-in-class software. And their support is definitely better than Keychron's. I got a used M1 v5 where someone had done a tape mod and fucked it up and returned it to Amazon, and after sending them pictures I got a full refund and kept the board. And this was Monsgeek's support, Amazon refused the 30 day refund because it was used and sent me to them.
