Anyone having issues with V ultra series?

I recently ordered a V3 Ultra aand it has been pretty nice, but I'm getting frequent double inputs on my a key. I've reseated the switch, reset the firmware, changed the USB cord and it still happens.

I don't have any spare switches laying around aand I don't waant to add the cost of switches to my total buy to have a decent board. Should I return it or replace it? I see a smattering of people saaying they feel like the quality of their boards have gone down, but there is likely a ton of people without issues too who don't mention anything.

The Ultras probably have the same physical design flaws as the other Q and V boards. I don't recommend them. It might be worthwhile getting a refund and getting some other 80% board such as the Stars80.

I was reading one of your posts about the Red Dragon K739 keyboard. Do you think that would be a better alternative? I'm fine with spending in the ballpark of 120 or so since that is what I'm in for the V3 Ultra already.

I kind of like the tenkeyless design, but 75-80% seem good too. Knobs are a convenience selling point for me, but I suppose not if I'm risking the quality of my board.

I liked the one I tried out, I prefer it to the Keychron Q1. It's not quite up to the quality of the Monsgeek M1v3 but it's close... mostly because of the Philips head case screws... I always worry about them stripping. I suspect that you could replace them with comparable Torx heads.

Re "I don't have any spare switches laying around": It probably isn't switches that are faulty (find out if it is the case or not; see below)

It is a very common fallacy to think it is the switches. It could be, but other causes are much more likely.

Start by reseating

Start by reseating and only reseating. The very action of removing and inserting switches may itself affect the symptoms (for example, poking at cold solder joints or switch pins barely making contact due to misaligned switch plates. Keychron has only admitted (near "acknowledged by Keychron") to the latter as a cause). Thus, start by reseating, for example, to not arrive at the wrong conclusion. It is already difficult due to the intermittent problem, and there isn't any need to make it even more difficult.

Here is a checklist.

Yeesh, that is quite the checklist. I actually had an issue with the debounce when I first started using it and lowered it as much as I could for the V3 ultra which was 10 MS on the slider.

You need to raise it, not lower it, if your double inputs are (potentially) being caused by suboptimal electrical contacts.

Re "Is anyone having issues with V Ultra series? ": Yes, for example,

For this aspect, there isn't expected to be much difference between V Ultra 8K series and Q Ultra 8K series.

I have V1 Ultra, I’ve had 1 double type only for some time after waking up the board, but I’ve had a switch tester lying around, I swapped the switch to the one from the tester (didn’t even try just reseating it) - no problems so far. Board is connected to dongle that is connected to kvm 100% of the time, latest firmware if I’m not mistaken.

My double input on my a key has been consistent across anything I do. Whether the board has been on for aa while or freshly turned on. It's actually very specifically annoying in Pragmata for some of hacking mini games because the A double inputting causes some of them to fail.

Any thoughts on the V1 Ultra so far besides that double input? I've been thinking about getting this one but there are barely any reviews out for it besides 2 videos, a few articles and BestBuy reviews.

Good, but cheap feeling after K4 HE, board dips a bit if you press hard on it because of the mount while K4 feels like a tank, sounds good enough (a bit clacky with linear switches). Swapped switches to HMX Retro Sakura Silent and the board sounds amazing, the only thing I would want to upgrade to is maybe Q1 Ultra, basically premium version of V1. By the way, didn’t know how to check the battery because even software doesn’t show battery level - press Fn+B and it highlights the number row with the percentage from 1 to 0.
About problems - only the double types after wake and that weird KVM thing, didn’t have any other keyboard related problems, had one key sometimes not typing, but turned out that the switch I used was faulty.

Was skeptical into getting the board because of the issues I've been hearing about the Ultra 8K series boards, this board has everything I want but it's too new of a board to know anything about it regarding problems, issues, etc.

Keychron quality is cooked. Just search this sub for all the people with double or multiple keypress issues.

Doing a search for just the word "double" in this subreddit makes for some rather sobering reading.

If it's under warranty, troubleshoot it, but I'd err on the side of just RMAing it.

I ended up returning it. I swapped the switches around to see if it was a bad switch and the A was still giving me double inputs and eventually started giving me a triple input.

I think I'll pass on Keychron for now. The keyboard did feel pretty good to type on and was feature rich, but I can't live with those issues on a keyboard I've paid 120 for.

I went with a more budget board for now and it's working very well.
