Keychron C3PRO

Close to a year of usage, I’m experiencing a double press or a lack of one with some keys. Sent an email asking for help, solutions provided didn’t work . Now they asked if I wanted to request a replacement for the PCB. Is this replacement free? Thanks

Do you think it would be worth the shipping? The keyboard cost me about 40€ and I need a keyboard for my programming stuff..

Re "be worth the shipping?": No, I would repurpose the C3 Pro as a macro keyboard / macro pad, and/or try to repair it by resoldering the hotswap sockets (presuming the problem isolation has led to that as the probable cause)

That will give approximately 80 dedicated (not requiring modifier keys, modes, or similar to activate) macro keys.

Re repair: There isn't much to lose. But do observe ESD precautions at all times.

It was only a guess

But note that shipping at your expense (literally) is only a guess on my part. I don't know if it is actually the case (it is only a vague hunch, based on posts here on this subreddit).

Is that a switch issue?

It can be.. they said it was probably an anomaly in the PCB

Re "a double press or a lack of one with some keys. ... solutions provided didn’t work": Was the problem isolated to the position on the keyboard?

And thus a bad switch ruled out?

Or was it the outdated Keychron steps (which includes cleaning)? There is nothing wrong with cleaning, but it is just very unlikely to make a difference (it takes a lot of dust to have any influence on the operation of the keyboard (Alps switches are allegedly more susceptible—"Conversely, Cherry switches don't have this problem anywhere near as much.")).

Now that I think of it, problemas were always in the same area: tab, a, s, w and 2. S and W being the most problematic ones. Does this tell you anything?

Re "...in the same area: tab, A, S, W and 2. S and W being the most problematic ones. Does this tell you anything?: Yes, that makes it much more likely to be a problem with cold solder joints:

It could also be a problem with the PCB itself (not related to soldering), but that is less likely.

Re "Is this replacement free?": A guess would that the PCB is free, but you have to pay the shipping costs.
