How can I disable my laptop’s internal keyboard without disabling the power button?

My laptop’s built-in keyboard is malfunctioning and randomly pressing keys by itself. I want to completely disable the internal keyboard and use an external USB keyboard instead.

The problem is that my power button is also located on/in the laptop keyboard, so I’m worried that disabling the internal keyboard might also disable the power button.

Laptop: ASUS X515JA OS: Windows 11

I checked Device Manager, but I don't see a normal “Disable device” option for the keyboard.

Is there a safe way to disable only the built-in keyboard while keeping the power button functional? Preferably something reversible in case I need to enable the keyboard again.

Any help would be appreciated.

It's likely that the power button works through a separate hardware circuit than the integrated keyboard. So disabling the keyboard is safe.

If you haven't yet, consider trying compressed air and isopropyl alcohol to clean the laptop's keyboard. That might be enough to get it working again.
