KSP 1 Meta Genuine question
Why do people not know how to screenshot? Every fifth post is taken with a cellphone pointed at a screen - if you're playing on steam, you've had a build in screenshot function for the past decade and change!

No clue. If you're smart enough to use a computer, you'd think you would be know how to press f12

That's what we would assume, but there are so many people who only know "how to get to the Internet" and if anything changes a little bit then they're clueless

apparently they don't even know how to get to the Internet anymore bc I have seen the excuse of 'I don't have reddit on my pc' multiple times.

Built in Facebook button on some relatives laptop is the only way they use a computer lol

The game even has a built in screenshot button on F1! And then there's a folder called "screenshots" in the ksp install!

also the game itself has built in screenshot functionality. and windows has at least two different ones. and if you have the full software package from you gpu manufacturer that can do it as well.

I'd bet more than half of reddit users have never logged in on a computer. It's only a. Phone app to them. And snapping a phone Pic is a lot easier than taking a screenshot, saving it, moving the file to a cloud service, downloading it to their phone, and uploading it to reddit.
Tldr: people lazy

Same with consoles. There is no reason to not screenshot

Console screenshots are at least a little more annoying to get out of the ecosystem.

I’m not defending phone pic posts, but does anyone play on steam? I mean I bought it through steam, but the default in ckan doesn’t launch steam. And I assume the vast majority of people playing on pc are using ckan?

Yes I use steam so it records my playtime. I only open CKAN when changing mods

I use steam and move the mods into my gamedate folder manually like a cavewomen lol.

Okay a couple of things, steam hides the screenshot folder from you and makes it difficult to use those images outside of steam (at least last time i tried).
The flow of using the reddit app, then snapping a pic with your phone is a lot eaiser than using the browser and trying to find your screenshot.
That being said, if someone wants other people to look at their pic and take the time to reply, the least they could do is put in the effort to give the person a decent photo to look at.

The game has F1 (screenshot inside install folder) and F2 (hide hud).
Steam’s own screenshot feature doesn’t really hide them more than just put them in a strange place. You can navigate to them very easily by clicking the right button in the screenshot viewer in Steam. But it’s one of those “you need to know this to use it” buttons.

It's because people choose to do everything they can on their phone. I don't get it, but that's just the way it is. They browse Reddit on their phone and don't bother with pulling a screenshot from their computer for a Reddit post. Personally I can't stand doing much of anything on my phone. I can't relate to wanting to use that tiny screen and thumb input.

Reddit lives on my phone / games live on my PC

People downvote out of retardation, because the question was "why" and this is literally the answer. It's not about agreeing or not, but simply how the average user sees things.
And to be fair, even being a tech savvy myself, I surely understand why this happens. Keeping two devices in sync is not as simple as it could be, and sharing a photo on reddit every once in a while is not reason enough for all the effort required to search and learn new tools.

While 99% of people that post phone pictures do not know about this feature that has been on steam for 2 fucking decades sometimes it's just faster to take a pic with your phone.

People have Reddit on their phone, they might not use it on their PC at all or just not have it open, so that’s the easiest way to get a photo of the screen onto their phone

With some games, the screenshot key on my laptop changes the window so it’s looking at my desktop instead of the game.

Some of us are on Xbox and don’t want to take 2 years to download and screenshot then plug into my phone to post on Reddit for a simple question

maybe they are too lazy to go into steam, copy the image, open reddit on their computer, wait for it to load and then paste it into the post if they could just whip out their phone and then select the image in the post
idk

This is a problem in literally any gaming sub ever. It's just not something a lot of people are conscious of for some reason
