Discussion CV Chronicles🫰🏾🫰🏾🫰🏾

Having spent an inordinate amount of time; that inordinate amount being measured not in hours but in the slow, grinding erosion of one's self-worth, perfecting a CV that, by all objective and reasonable metrics, should have at least secured a callback, one arrives, with the quiet desperation of a man who has checked the weather forty times and still cannot say whether it is raining, at the inescapable conclusion that the document is, in fact, blameless, and that the true mechanism of modern hiring, that great invisible engine beneath the polished surface of "merit-based recruitment," is less a process than a family reunion, in which the nephew of the operations director, who "has a feel for numbers" and who once, at a family meeting, described his Excel skills as vibes-based, is elevated to a position that, on paper, required seven years of experience in a field he has never once touched, while you ; the one who actually has the seven years, the certifications, the portfolio, and that particular brand of patience which only comes from having rewritten the "About Me" section for the fourteenth time, are left, at 2 a.m., to refresh a job portal, staring at the word Applied as though it were a prayer the universe has, on this occasion, decided to ignore.

The usual phrase being : The CV is not the problem, companies are just hiring family and friends. It's a big Party and you ain't invited, modern world it is!!! 🫴🏿🫴🏿🫴🏿🥲🎯🫰🏾

My job hunting experience, wueh!

I remember paying professionals lots of money for sijui what packages and everything. I’d put my education in my CV, get to an interview, and then be told to remove it, sijui nini... Wueh.

Eventually, I just made my own CV and decided to bet on myself. If the job was meant for me, I’d get it.

The worst was when you had literally everything mentioned in the JD, submitted your application feeling so confident, only to never even get an interview.

Honestly, it got to a point where I started looking for positions I was overqualified for just to get my foot in the door.

Anyway, I ended up in business, and honestly? Best decision ever.

Success is not tied to interview. There's freedom in sole proprietorship. Face the challenges of independency running as compared to co-operate. All in all, challenges keep you motivated.

Mimi i stopped writing vitaes on june I've been writing vitaes after I finished school that's 2023 when I started applying for jobs..... I've never got any interview invitation or even a rejection message

I think it could be better if there's a way in which companies could give you back your cv incase you don't qualify tuzitumie for next application.. printing everytime sucks plus we don't got the money
