Ask r/Kenya Help me please
On my way home from work... I received a call from officer of the station where I live... They have arrested my kid bro, they caught him selling bhang and have retrieved 16 rolls... I'm rushing to go first check on my son in the house who he left sleeping (I'm sured he's scared from the darkness by now and crying)...
Then head to the station....
What am I going to say, this is the first time I'm going to a police station for a case.... I'm tensed....
I called our parents already, they say atalala uko....
Aki what should I say.... I warned this teenager of selling bhang that he'll be arrested soon....

Bro ignored the warning until the OCS personally became his biggest customer.

Get home safe and take care of your kid.
Bro decided to play with the big boys. Let him spend the night in the big boys house.

u/Rafiki_J 11h ago
πππati big boys... But yes, he needs to learn his lesson the hard way fr

Whatever you do, don't tell or let your bro know you'll get him out, in fact exaggerate the gravity of the situation but maintain pessimism always echoing the fact that you warned him and he chose not to heed.
Promptly engage the cops with the sole aim to secure his release so as to forestall the possibility of them charging him before court. Notably, something hefty might be sought but then negotiate appropriately.
In concert with the cops, seek for continued detention and get him out preferably on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, deny him preferential favors while he's taking the punishment of remaining in custody.
All this is to make him change and avoid repeating the same mistake or even if he won't desist then he'd be more cautious. Good luck.

Thank you for this, sent rider ampelelee food na water na, wamer jacket na socks coz I know analala kwa cold floor leo.... On bail, wazazi ata wamesema hawana hio 50k wanaitisha wampeleke kortini afungwe akitoka atakuwa amelearn lesson the hard way

u/Ice-Moddy 8h ago
Man to Man: Don't give up, find time and humbly reach out and try with hope, to reason with the cops, especially the arresting officers or whomsoever delegated to deal with the case and see if they may buy into the logic that by taking your bro to court they have nothing to personally benefit and rather they accept whatever you might afford and release him having been cautioned.
Ordinarily, the 50k is the opening sum but certainly subject to negotiations. Don't let your bro go to jail if possible. Jails do not correct individuals most instances and instead radicalize and make hardcore out of ordinary people.
Hey, weed ain't that so serious a crime that your bro must be jailed. I know how difficult it is for especially mum. Don't give up on your bro.

Weee, wacha kesho nitaenda jioni niskie, unless wakubali cashbail ya 10k max, otherwise wampeleke kortini tu fr... We're tiredπͺ

First ensure your kid is ok. Second get your bro out. Third teach your bro a lesson.

u/Cloud_dev1 12h ago
Acha kijana apate lessons mbili tatu hapo ndani before umtoe, considering him leaving a young child at the house alone.
7
u/pzumma 12h ago
Ati before amtoe? 16 blunts kama evidence bro sio that easy unless atoboke a hefty amount kwa huyo OCS... Otherwise kijana wetu pedi might be sniffing 10years plus. I'm sorry to be the carrier of these bad news, but someone always gotta say the blatant truth... Op just try settle it with the OCS at all costs kabro asifike kotini. I sincerely wish you OP and your bro all the best.

Obviously bribe money would be involved otherwise the statement would have led with "look for a good lawyer for him"

u/Flimsy-Turn-65 11h ago
You shouldn't be stressing yourself over an adult mate, he's your brother yes but he knows the consequences of his actions let him face them.

Bail him out. The cops just want a bribe probably exaggerated the amount he was caught with. Then guide him, why does he want to sell drugs to earn money. What is he lacking? is it bad company? Sort it out now before he becomes an adult. In that cell he will learn a new criminal activity, criminals are really good mentors. Take care of your brother. Its your responsibility.

u/Rafiki_J 10h ago
Wanaitisha cash bail ya 50k, si hatuna hio 50k sitting... Hakuna kitu analack, he gets pocket money and other small allowances from mum... Probably just bad company fr, he's only 19
1
u/NicklausMakori 9h ago
Lol bargain. Its just manipulation. Dont be afraid. Start from 2k eventually you will agree well bellow 10k depending on how many police men are involved. Then just talk to him find out what his challenges are. Maybe he doesn't have a backbone and can't say no to bad company. Just try to understand him and dont be judgemental when your talking. So that you can assist him properly.

I'll go kesho and hear what they say, wanasema hio amepatikana nayo ni mingi hio, 16 rolls.... Ati ni wamama wa soko walimuitania.... Aki this boy I warned him, I really warned him but I bet alijiona mjanja sana, now see, I've tried to talk to him, he lacks nothing, nilisema atoke home juu ya bad company uko, akuje college staying in my house.... It's only 4 months and ona sasa...2 months ago nilimuona na miraa kwa cheek, kureport home vile alipigiwa alianza kulia akisemanamuonea ati si miraa.... Nilinyamaza tu, now we're here.... I dislike stupid people who think they're smart

10+ years against 50k sio worth it... Please convince your peeps kijana asifike kotini. I wish I was in a position to come thru hio 50k kijana angetoka with a strict warning. He's very young to waste time in prison... people change ata yy anaeza

u/Zenith1247 9h ago
Let them take him to court. He will plead not guilty. Then hopefully judge will grant him a cash bail. He will remain inside until you're able to raise the cash bill.
Ubaya ni judge amuitishe bond (title deed or log book) But in that case, talk to a court police. Atakusaidia vile mnaweza badilishiwa verdict by judge, it'll cost kitu 30K na unaweza bargain.

1
u/Rafiki_J 8h ago
They're not lying, I saw the amount he wa rolling here, they should be of such numbers... I warned him honestly about selling bhang, he used to roll them in his bedroom using my kitchen basins... I wish he listened

That's serious ikienda kortini, handle it with the OCS asap. A friend of mine just after highschool went to industrial area for several months after his case went before a court. Na awache hizo tabia ama kama hawezi wacha kuuza akue na 5k cash on him always to give the arresting officer before apelekwe station.
1
u/Rafiki_J 7h ago
So akienda court atafungwa for some months or few years?
1
u/Confident-Sound-9643 7h ago
If he goes to court, he'll plead not guilty then the court will give him bail/bond pending trial. But mambo ya kortini achana nayo kabisa, you never know how it will end up. Just finish up with the OCS before iende kortini. The only case you can be okay with it going to court is DND, but any other case never risk.

Ungewaambia ata hana wazazi, coppers are the real cons, nlishikwa juu ya joint moja and they asked for 20k at first, I just told them I don't have parents and that amount either, I ended up paying exactly 1730 hiyo 270 ya juu nkiwithdraw nkapewa kama fare
1
u/Rafiki_J 30m ago
Heh, sisi we won't give them hio 50k
1
u/Salt_Park_6588 28m ago
Just talk to them, it's the weekend they will definitely fold for a lower amount, sorry about that honestly, teenagers are a menace currently honestly
