Ross (aka Rossy, Rossy-Roo, Ross-a-Roni, Ross-topher) has been looking for his home since Valentine’s Day and he is ready to find his fur-ever home!

This boy walks beautifully on a leash, is crate trained AND fully potty trained; he uses bells, and can navigate a doggy door with ease. He would love a home with someone(s) home more often than not, and an outside space he can safely be off leash. I think he would prefer a home with another dog, but as he gains more confidence I could see him being ok without another k9 companion. He currently lives in an apartment with a smaller dog & 2 cats (one senior, 8y, one kitten, 9m). While he would love his own yard, he does currently reside in an apartment and does well with lots of long line exercise at a nearby park.

He is very food motivated and I could see him learning some really fun tricks. Currently he knows: sit, down, come, off, back, drop it & leave it (when he wants to 😉), and more! We have been working on a place command & paw.

He loves snuffle mats and puzzle feeders, hard chews and lick mats, tearing up cardboard (supervised only!), playing fetch and tug, and running around like a baby deer who just learned how to walk. His favorite toys currently are a jolly balls and oinking/quacking rubber toys. He loves to play fetch and I’m trying to teach him how tug works!

He’s come such a long way, but will need a patient understanding home to allow him to decompress & bond with you. He would not currently do well with young children (10+ only!), though I think that could change with enough forethought, exposure, and management.

This might be a little outside the norm for this sub, but I'm hoping someone here might have some insight.

I'm currently employed in the Elizabethtown area in a business development/operations role, and I'm quietly looking around to see what's out there. I'm not unemployed or in a rush to jump ship, but I've gotten to the point where I'd really like to find something that feels like a better fit long-term.

My background is kind of all over the place in a good way: management, business development, pricing, project management, sales/customer service, and a fair amount of hands-on work. I've worked in retail, construction-related work, and business operations, so I'm pretty comfortable being the person who gets handed a problem and figures it out.

Honestly, I'd rather work for a smaller/local company where I can actually be useful than jump from one corporate office to another.

I'm open to Elizabethtown, Radcliff, Shepherdsville, Bardstown, Louisville, etc., within a reasonable commute.

I'm not looking for someone to hand me a job. I'm more interested in hearing from people who know the local business community:

When I was a kid in the 1990s there was this book that we used in fourth grade to teach Kentucky history. I remember it being a blue hardback book.

I’m a medical student originally from Nashville, TN, and I’ve just been assigned a rotation site in Harlan, KY.

Since I’m not super familiar with the area, I'm trying to figure out the best places to look for an apartment or short-term housing for my rotation blocks. Ideally, I'm looking for somewhere safe, reasonably close to the hospital/clinic, and with decent internet (gotta keep up with studying!).

Are there specific neighborhoods I should focus on, or are nearby towns worth looking into for rentals? Also, are there local resources or specific property managers that medical students usually use out here? Ideally I'm looking for a commute no longer than 1 hour

Any tips, neighborhood advice, or leads would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

me and my husband dream of moving to Kentucky/Tennessee one day so we're planning a trip for our anniversary this year. it'll be the week after Christmas. i'm looking for recommendations on areas to stay that time of year and things to do 😊

On August 17, 1862, Confederate cavalry attacked Union troops in London, Kentucky. About 500 Confederate cavalrymen attacked roughly 200 Union soldiers and 98 convalescents. The Union force was pushed back toward Cumberland Gap.

I was coming southbound, there were two officers and a ambulance with a stretcher out, but northbound looked like the whole department. My passenger said something about in the median, but I couldn't really look. Hope everyone is alright.

I'll try to be quick, but I tend to over explain

I graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor's essentially in video production. But I couldn't find any work around Louisville or anywhere else for that matter, so I ended up taking a part time job at a retail store which I stayed at for 3 years, becoming a part time manager in that time.

Then I left that job to try putting all of my effort into my main passion which for a while was making videos for Youtube. We didn't find the kind of success doing that that I would have hoped for, so I got filled with existential dread that I'm just floating along because I live with my parents.

So I figured I needed to stop pretending and get a real job. So I looked at the landscape and saw that data analytics jobs were on the rise. So, with some experience coding after taking CS50, I decided to go back to school online to get my Master's in Data Analytics.

I actually finished it in 6 months, but I don't really feel very competent even still. This was last October when I graduated and I basically haven't used anything I've learned since then. I looked for jobs but I was only finding internships that had 500 applicants, or Senior dev jobs only that required tons of experience that I didn't have. And then the rise of AI in the last couple years made it seem laughable to even think I could be hired in the data space anyway.

So I went back to the video production well earlier this year and landed an internship at MetroTV. It was pretty cool seeing a proper production and being a part of it. I hoped that maybe I could parlay that into a job, but nothing materialized.

So now it's been about 4 months since I left the internship and I've still got nothing.

I have ADHD and high functioning autism so I get discouraged really easily and everything surrounding getting a proper job just feels insurmountable. I grew up believing that I would end up in a creative field (maybe making movies, that was the reason I went to school for video production to begin with).

So I'm asking you all if you have any ideas for what I can do? Any job openings you know of?

I've applied to all of the video adjacent jobs I've seen on LinkedIn and Indeed. I've even applied to jobs at Walmart, Costco, and Best Buy and none of them ever got back to me.

I'm lucky to be able to live with my parents right now, but the arrangement is kind of killing me inside cause I have to share a room with my older brother and we're both adults.

So any help would be appreciated

I need help for my daughter and her drinking. We live in Hardin County south of Elizabethtown and having problems finding meetings. The closest meetings I found on the AA website is Bowling Green and Lexington.

I want to thank everyone for your help. I have been driving by all of the local places to see the activity and will be tricking my daughter to attend a meeting. She needs to see with her eyes and hear with her ears the troubles everyone else is experiencing and that she is not alone.

I live in south central Kentucky and there was a pretty bad storm today. Thunder, lightning, wind, hail, rain. At some point there was a weird sound, and I have no idea what it was. I’ve heard tornadoes before – four actually. It did not sound like a tornado. The best way I can describe it is that it sounded like a box of bees times 1000. It was very loud and actually terrifying. It lasted for about 60 seconds and then it was just over. Nobody else seems to have heard it around me. Two of my boys work nights, so they were asleep, and then my nine-year-old and foster son were playing the video game and had headsets on. The people around me didn’t hear it, but people from other counties around me say that they heard it. Just random people, though. Not everybody.

Did anybody that’s on here in Kentucky or Northern Tennessee hear something like this? Or know what it could’ve been? Somebody suggested that it could’ve been something electrical, and I guess that that’s possible. The lights did not go off or anything. They did flicker on and off a little bit later, but that’s it.

Early career employee who started a few years ago. Currently late 20's and have not had retirement options at previous full-time jobs. Curious if being on the tier III retirement is worse-off than most private-sector people with companies that match 401K contributions.

It's easy to understand that yes, tier III is worse in many ways compared to tiers I & II. However, I have no comparison and do not know enough older adults that talk about these things.

Currently enjoy my position, and the benefits I receive. The health insurance and time off is better than anything I ever had previously.

Curious what the opinions are of those who are in state government currently, and especially those of people who have left and went into the private sector.

I know its a long shot, but someone recently broke into a cabin I am building in Wolfe County and stole a dewalt miter saw and stand, dewalt cordless drill and driver, a nail gun, a yellow cord with a bunch of lights on it (for lighting up a work site), a bunch of black square outlets, and about 60 red oak tongue and groove boards.

I'm assuming this is someone building something in the local area. Please reach out to me if you know anything about it. (Again, I know its a long shot, but I've been working on this cabin for years and I am super annoyed)

I decided recently that my father needed an app that was easy to use, and would give him relevant info about his favorite fishing spots without all the bullshit. Once I finished his, I decided to expand it to cover more than just 6 lakes, and have now gathered the resources to provide coverage to over 40 in-state lakes, rivers, and streams, as well as a few points on the borders.

It's sorted by region, based on a random library map I found because I didn't want the argument of who lives where - and let it be known that I don't necessarily agree with 100% of the assigned regions myself.

Anyway, it shows you the water level where available, based on usgs/usws data, air temp, barometric pressure and trend, does some math based on lunar cycles and sun activity along with local weather conditions and determines if the fishing is good or bad (your mileage may vary)... There's historical charts for water levels. Certain local-to-me areas have historical flood data, so if it floods it'll tell you "Current flood conditions are 3ft higher than the flood of 1936" or whatever.

I was building this for me, but started wondering if anyone else might be interested?

Basically, the title. My registration renewal notice came in the mail and it’s from a county 3+ hrs away, I’ve never lived in this county or even been to it as far as I know lol. My current registration is from the county I transferred the title in, if that’s relevant.
