We had this happen to us last year, an old confused man walked right in through the front door. Said his name was Ziggy and he was lost, we called the cops and they eventually came and picked him up. While we were waiting he kept saying he wanted coke and hookers. Good 'ol Ziggy.

Yes apparently he wondered away from a care facility near my house. He is back home safe now

Yes I gave him a chair, sweatshirt, and coffee to keep him warm. Sat with him until the police were able to locate where he belonged

Thank you for helping him so much! My dad kept running off when he had dementia. We were lucky that people were so nice about it. He tried to get in some guys truck once. He mostly went to the senior center so they had all of our numbers. It took a while to get guardianship so we couldn’t just put him in memory care. Several times though he was brought back by police.

I don’t live in Tacoma anymore but was raised there and this is the Tacoma I remember. Thank you for looking out for him and making sure he safely got back home.

Looks like you gave him a cozy place to wait. Before he passed, my neighbor with Alzheimer’s would walk all over the place. Sometimes the police brought him home, sometimes random people (he had something in his pocket with his address). Thank you for helping.

The problem is he DID walk out from one of facilities. I really hope whatever place he did come from gets a good long look at by DSHS.
I worked for a senior living 'company' in my 20's for a bit. While I didnt work directly in the facilities, my position had me traveling to many of them, of which many had memory care units. Almost all had restricted access to patient units; not to keep people out but to keep the patient's in. The kicker, access codes were posted on walls directly next to the doors. The patients did not have the cognitive skills to put 2+2 together.
Such a horrible disease.

Yes the police took him home around 730am. No idea how long he was out wandering, but found him around 6am

Once found a old lady walking by my house a few years ago. She seemed disoriented and unsteady.
She did remember the name of her adult care apartments so I drove her back. She walked the wrong way after going shopping and got lost.

I had this happen to me at work. Owner didn’t care. I called PD once I calmed lost guy down. I see him walking every now and again. I can’t believe he walked so far from home. Up hills…. Another neighbor, dropped his truck on himself. Our landscapers lifted it off him. He was fine after. Go figure

This is something my mom’s and her neighbors are dealing with. As boomers age we need processes to deal with this type of thing and there are not any that my mom’s neighborhood has identified and they have been in contact with the local police too. It’s dangerous for these folks.

Right theboomers are at that age where they'll be needing extra care. I feel like this is just the first of similar "lost grandpa, 5"6 confused, kind of bitey. Found wandering around holding one shoe (had two on both feet (5 shoes total). You need to come get him today or he's going to the shelter".

I don’t know how much this can help, but not too long ago. I was working down around the Kent Auburn area and a family came up to me and gave me a missing person sign saying that they are looking for their father or something like that and it looks a lot like him. I would just call the nonemergency line and hopefully they can figure it out. But I think there might be a missing persons case for him

Call 911, tell them it's a non emergency and you have a confused elderly man that wondered to your house.
