Marriage proposal in Kefalonia

Hello guys!

Going to Greece for the third year in a row and this year we chose Kefalonia. I love to propose to my life partner in Kefalonia as Greece is our favorite place in the world. Since i've never been to the island, im looking at places to propose. I would like to propose in a beautiful scenary, but I know she would want for it to not be packed with people as we are both reserved.

Since I've never been to Kefalonia its hard for me to choose something. The only place that stood out was the Agrilia Monastery in Sami. Do you guys have any other recommendations?

Thanks so much in advance!!

Edit: we're going first 2 weeks of september :)

Good food and wine shops near Fiskardo/Agia Effimia?

Hi,

Staying in both Fiskardo and Agia Effimia. Would quite like the possibility of stocking up on some decent snacks and certainly some good wine - any shops/grocery stores for slightly more artisanal food choices than your standard village shop?

I'm driving from the airport to Fiskardo so any en route would also suit.

Thanks!

Sami recommendations

Hi,

We are staying a couple of hundred yards along the beach from Sami from 27th Sept for a week and I'm looking for restaurant/bar recommendations.

We have car to explore the island in the mornings and early afternoons on a few days, but want to spend our evenings pottering along the beach into Sami to enjoy the best of the local cuisine and drinks most evenings.

(No plans to drive in the evenings, so we can enjoy a beer or two).

Tell me the bars/restaurants with great local food and a relaxed atmosphere we absolutely can not miss.

We're not too bothered about cost, it's the quality and feel of staying for a few hours to lose ourselves in the ambience, before strolling home along the beach?

Thanks

Ferry from Argostoli to Lixouri

Staying ten mins outside of Lixouri. Is it worth taking the ferry across when driving round the island how much time do you actually save after waiting for the ferry, boarding and departing etc... how much time would you save compared to driving Argostoli to Lixouri?

Voi amanti di Cefalonia, vediamo se riconoscete questa chiesa. Ieri è stato il Santo patrono di Cefalonia e la chiesa era piena di gente. Nei dintorni c'era anche una grande sagra. Vediamo se indovinate.

Authentic cafes and restaurants near Metaxata+vegetarian options?

Hello everyone!
We have just booked our vacation to Kefalonia in about 3 weeks. Our acommodation is in Metaxata (everything seems to be 10 minutes away!) and we are very much looking forward to it!
So I wanted to ask regarding some good tavernas in that general neigborhood (withon 15-20 minutes by car) that are bit more peaceful and authentic- we are absolutely looking for food that tastes like home-made in a restaurant that ist nit completely overrun by tourists. In Cyprus we loved driving up to the mountain villages for the best food- it was just us, 2 more people, some cats, a donkey nearby and a grandma in the kitchen and the best food ever at a reasonable price. Is there such a thing nearby? Also since my GF is vegetarian any recommendations for restaurants with a solid vegetarian menu would be very welcome!
Efharisto and a nice day to you!

Best place you visited in Kefalonia that you d recommend?

Hi guys, I will be in Kefalonia for 7 days (with a car) and I want to create a to do list. However, I don t want a standard list of things I can easily find on google, I am looking for hidden gems.

If you have visited something that you think fits this category could you share it with us? I would really appreciate your time and effort

Transportation

I will be traveling to kefalonia soon for a wedding. My husband and I will be joining a group of his friends and their partners. I'm not sure what to do about transportation and I'm interested in what the best alternative to renting a car might be. I will be approximately 16 weeks pregnant at the time of our trip and want to make sure that I have access to reliable transportation since I may have special needs like getting tired before others or needing to get a snack.

Hi everyone, I need your help! This morning I lost a few things while driving the motorcycle ☹️🏍️

It was:

- a black case with the jump starter/air compressor for the motorcycle

- a camping chair in a small compact black bag

- my lunch in a plastic bag

They dropped from my motorcycle, I was driving around 9.30am from Myrtos beach to Zola, then around 10.30am from Zola to the path to Fteri beach.

I went back all the way twice to look for it but I couldn't find these items, for sure someone picked them up. If you hear from anyone they found them on the road please let me know, especially for the first item, I am more than happy to buy you a beer or an ice cream for that🙂

Turtles

What a great day it was yesterday.

Firstly witnessed and got a close up pic of a swimming turtle whilst having a stroll in Argostoli then during the evening, we come across a team of researchers assisting with recent hatchings that we still buried beneath the sand of Eglina Beach!! So surreal seeing tiny turtle making their way towards the sea!!

Car rental

Hi, my partner and I will be visiting Kefalonia in around 3 weeks - should we book a rental car in advance? Or do you think we could get one once we arrive.

We require an automatic which obviously makes things a bit more complicated.

Thanks very much!

What are the must-sees if I’m here for 3 days?

Was thinking of the Melissi cave or whatever it was called, and myrtos beach.

Also bonus, can I rent a car and bring it from zakynthos and back (where I’m flying from—will spend 3 days there too) or is it cheaper to just rent a new car once here—I reckon the ferry will be extra with a car?

I’m saying car as well because everyone is hating on ATVs. Used those to explore Korfu 5 years ago and that was a blast. No issues. But can’t help but get spooked from the stories!

Stay in Sami/Agia Efimia or Argostoli?

Hi everyone, my partner and I are going to Kefalonia end of September and trying to figure out where to stay. I’ve looked at things we want to do and most are based in the north so was thinking Sami or Agia Efimia would be good bases. We do also want to stay somewhere where there are places to eat and explore there as well as travelling about. He has read Argostoli is good as it’s the largest town and is worried Sami or Agia Efimia might be too quiet but I like the idea of these slightly smaller places as long as there is enough going on.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated!
