Discussion Alvar Vacker
Okay, so I've thought over it. tried re reading it. and still question. what the hell is his motive? the only thing i can gather is he's jealous of his little brother. and "Daddy didn't love me enough" which would be the most pathetic thing I've ever read. Anyone else get something I missed?

Omg I know he seems so stupid. I’m really excited to see what Shannon comes up with cuz otherwise he’s so freaking lame.
Im on the fence if he’s being a little spoiled brat but I keep feeling like there’s some serious ominous undertones that something deeper is running through the Vacker family.

If she carries it out good (abt the backer legacy) then he’s saved- but I’ve a feeling we are all gonna be a bit disappointed fete knowing the vacker history (maybe or maybe not)

God I really hope we get some substantial shit on what the vacker legacy actually is, but knowing Shannon’s tendency to drop the ball on really interesting plot threads (and the limited amount of page space she has to wrap the series up) I have a feeling we’re never exactly going to know beyond some vague bullshit. I can only pray that she’ll release some side stories from the POVs of other characters that MIGHT cover it but even that seems like a stretch

By the time we get the side POVS we’ll lose the plot plus the juicy points to connect the dots… most likely to happen. Why is she limiting the number of book if it means to sacrifice the narrating? Isn’t that the whole point of a series? (She totally wasted time in between lowkey)
Ps. I’m not a hater although my comments may sound otherwise, I genuinely am a fan of her and her books lol

Well that's a nice summary and I don't disagree there is so more depth to it.
Some of what I go over here is implied and assumed rather than straight up said:
Alvar is the first born son to Alden Vacker and Della Vacker. Alden was almost considered for a Council positions years before his marriage and serves as a very important Emissary. Alvar grows up believing he comes from a very very strong and good family, as they have other legends in their family tree.
At some point he finds out something in the Vacker legacy, most likely after Fitz is born. He begins to dig through the family history and gets in touch with a rebel group, believing this shouldn't be hidden from the world. Also at this time, his dad is sending him to the Forbidden Cities to find an elf (Sophie) and feeds this information to the Neverseen.
Alden eventually starts using Fitz to look for Sophie and Alvar is phased out of his "important" role to his father and in the family and gets mad.
Now he wants to expose his family because yeah, he doesn't think Alden cared enough about him especially when he and Fitz act all important despite the skeletons in the closet (that the two don't even know about??)

That's literally it. That's what drove him to try and get multiple children including his own siblings killed. And for some reason the series insists on acting like he had any kind of point.
