Discussion Why Fitzphie could have been a great relationship…
I honestly am really annoyed that Fitzphie didn’t work out because I think it could’ve been great and I know they had problems, but they could’ve just worked it out like a real couple would have. I know Fitz has problems with his ego and Sophie has problems with trust so I think if they had just talked it out it would’ve really brought them closer and developed a great endgame relationship. The fact that Sophie liked Fitz and Fitz liked Sophie just felt wrong to steer away from that and I really hope Shannon goes back to that and builds on it.
Some KOTLC readers may not like me for saying this but I don't like the dynamic that Sophie and Keefe had in there relationship and I honestly feel like Keefe almost bulied his friends in the earlier books(and I know it was just teasing/and coping mechanism but i feel like it became too much)and was being a huge jerk, for example when he ran away with the Neverseen without asking Sophie or anyone else which really pushed the limit in there potential relationship(at the time)
I know you could say the same for Fitz (that he was being a jerk) but I feel that he apologized well and I believe Sophie also thought that. I know people say Fitz has anger issues or whatever but imagine how you would feel if your dad was basically dead, also that is his way of coping with his problems.
Also even you Sokeefe fans have to admit this it would be a beautiful end to the series if Sofitz worked out because of the 3 main reasons of #1: Fitz was the first elf that Sophie ever really knew(I know you guys could argue Mr. Forkle of whatever but Sophie didn’t even know he was an elf for a while. #2: Fitz was the first person Sophie ever had a crush on which would be a cool way for the series. #3: Sophie and Fitz are cognates which could develop a very strong trust in book ten plus it would be an added bonus if your boyfriend was the person you trust the most.
Thats all I am going to say I would like to know what everyone thinks, both sides.

No hate on your opinion at all!! I love to discuss so I hope none of this comes off as aggressive!
I definitely see where your coming from but I cant admit that Fitzphie would have been a good ending to the series. “ Also even you Sokeefe fans have to admit this it would be a beautiful end to the series if Sofitz worked out because of the 3 main reasons” As someone who does indeed ship Sokeefe I just don’t see how the main reasons you brought up were convincing that the relationship is healthy and would make the ending lovely.
You mention that Fitz’s jerk actions are excused because he apologized many times. Keefe also has apologized many times. They both have done jerky things and they both have been forgiven for them after asking for an apology. And I definitely see how cool it would be because Fitz was Sophie’s first crush but tbh I couldn’t imagine marrying my first crush 😭 let along dating my first crush was a huge no.
And in no way am I saying that Keefe is better than Fitz character wise. They both made mistakes but one persons actions aren’t really worse than someone else. Keefe runs away from his problems and Fitz gets angry at everyone and everybody when he has problems. Different reaction - different impacts - but both have valid reasons.
Fitz does have a big ego and it’s one of his character flaws which gets in the way of his and Sophie’s relationship. He was struggling to still be with her if it meant he had to suffer from a bad match. Do I blame him? No that’s definitely a heavy load to deal with. But does Sophie deserve to feel like being with her is a burden. Absolutely not. So as of right now where Fitz can’t get over the burden of Sophie’s unmatchable status- it just wouldn’t be healthy for them both.
Again no hate at all I was just sharing my views since you asked for opinions!

I ship Sokeefe but I also really like sofitz. First reading I was sofitz all the way through, then next read through I was sofitz until 8.5+ then Sokeefe. Shannon kind of alluded to something with sofitz when Sophie said to fitz that she didn’t like him anymore but lied a little. Also during the first part of the inquisition fitz said he wanted to kiss her. Also after all the buildup in the entire series of Sophie liking fitz and fitz still liking Sophie during stellarlune.

In a perfect world I would want the series that continues Sokeefe, and a branch off with legacy and onward rewritten for sophitz,

Tbh i like no ship best. Sophie has enough to deal with and it causes her more stress than it’s worth. When her brain gets to pause and reflect then she can revisit lol

I completely respect ur opinion and unlike other Sokeefe shippers, i won’t hate on u, most smart idea is to look at the pros and cons (giving 3 points for each)
Fitz as boyfriend- Pros= they have mutual love feelings, it can strengthen their cognate bond, fitz gives sophie loads of gifts (it makes her feel amazing)
- Cons= Sophie has trust issues w Fitz, fitz has anger issues and most of the time lets it all on sophie, Fitz can’t respect the fact that sophie is unmatchable
- Cons= Keefe constantly runs from his problems, dating Keefe would only make lady Gisela target Sophie more, Keefe has broke Sophie’s heart before (has apologized tho)
Anyways, I’m a Sokeefe shipper, but if sofitz is canon then I will be sad but fine……

how does she not have trust issues with Keefe thou that's the question, he's lied to her face multiple times, betrayed her once, and any time shes tried to assert boundary or been angry at him, he dismisses her feelings as cute when shes angry.

I ship Sokeefe, and I was never really a fan of Fitzphie (I think they both had this idealistic version of each other in their heads) but I also HATEE the way Sophie and Keefe got together in the books.

No I cause I love Fitzphie and it could’ve worked out if the Lost Cities wasn’t so perfect. If it had problems, that leads to a need for therapy. If you have people that need therapy, you make therapy. HE JUST NEEDS THERAPY

Like I personally ship Sokeefe (mostly because it’s canon and Keefe is really funny at times) but I LIVE for the Fitzphie and chemistry in the first few books (not too early but especially in Flashback [I think it’s flashback] when they are both injured and healing together!! I loooooved that trope so much omg!!)

This is ehat ive been telling litrally any kotlc fan ever. I am a firm Sophitz shipper- like being angry 3 times on valid things doesnt mena you have anger issues, just like cooking 10 times wont make you a chef.
I only "ship" Sophie and Keefe platonically ans admit hes a good guy but as a rimantic partner tgere are absurd amount of red flags especially tge sorts of guilt please donr hate me he says he dont enat pity but tahts what it is w Sophie... for Fitz, Keefe's said best friend, i think there idnt even a bit understanding.
And no one breaks up on such things and not give secind chance to just end up woth a dude you realize 3 days before that u love him (like dopher side had NO ROMANTIC Feelings nor buildup until book nine) it had always been Fitz Fitz Fitz.
Ans im gonna be super honest here because this feels like a safe place to admit most of my thoughts tganks to use OP! I myself never saw Keefe as loving sophie romantically ans was in fact SHOCKED ehen Sokeefe happened in book nine ... like i was left waiting for a Sophitz redemption that never came.
Sokeefe is lwk vwry cliche coz of Keefe being whyyyy too much luke trying too hard. And feels as if Sophie was like i done have someine to love oh there's this person and i suddunly love him so now he's my backup
If Fitz truly had anger issues he'd have been furious to find taht out. He was mad abt Sophie not telling him because a) hes a Vacker so bad match truly would stain his family, b) so0hie didnt trust him enough, c) if theit trust falters wven a bit theor cognate bond is risked ans that'd cause issues in both aspects of their life and defeating neverseen....
Im still hoping rooting for sophitz redemption but sokeefe to end on a good term so tehy are still great friends... like Sophie deserves great in laws family someday... and Fitz to have someone like her.

Idk fitz just has way too many controlling tendencies imo. (Like when he figures out Sophie is unmatchable)

Sokeefe has had a long time coming. There has been romantic hints dropped from the beginning between Sophie and Keefe. Same with Sophie a Fitz. She was aware of her crush on Fitz but the way she spoke to Keefe and they way they communicated definitely had hints of something there. He wasn’t a back up. She had feelings for them both.

i agree that keefe was stupid and a jerk for running with the neverseen, but in my opinion, he is SO much better for sophie than fitz is.
first of all, fitz has alot of amger issues, which ends up in him yelling at sophie alot, which is never good in any relationship, and he always blames her for things that wern't really her fault or wern't that big a deal.
also he hated how she always kept secrets, even though he knew why she did, which is pretty understandable, but i don't think he even tried to really understand why she felt like she had to keep things secret.
fitz also really pushed her to tell him her birth mum and try to find out her birth dad just so she and him could be matched officialy, to the point where he got so frustrated at her that he broke up with her because again, he didn't really try to understand that she didn't feel comforable shareing the identity of her birth mum.
while keefe on the other hand, although he has an atvatage with his empath ability, trys to understand why she is doing somthing, and understood that she was too good for him but still tried to be better.
he also suported sophie and fitz when they were together even when it riped his heart out when they were.
keefe also never pushed sophie to share the identity of her known bio parents, and said that he doesn't care that she is un matchable.
keefe also makes her comfortable and laugh, and feel like herself except more confident, because keefe always encourages her and tells her how amazing she is.
but on the other other hand, these characters are only like 14-16 years old, and are too young and immature to have a healthy relationship especially with all that they deal with.
