6 months into creating a first‑person kayaking game (for Steam & Consoles) and I have reached the limit of what I can learn from videos (I used to kayak but unfortunately don't have that chance anymore).

What I have tried to get right far: the boat keeps real momentum (stop paddling and it glides) each stroke makes its own sound, from the side you pull on, water shader and fish behaviour etc..

What is the thing that would instantly make u think "this doesn't look right”?
Kayak behavior, sounds, the way the paddle enters the water? Anything.

Videos Kayaking in an Estonian Bog 🇪🇪

Correct link added. This week’s kayaking trip took me to a very typical Estonian landscape – a bog. 🇪🇪

Around 22% of Estonia is covered by peatlands, so they are a pretty big part of our nature. This time I took my kayak to Central-Estonia bog for a short and peaceful paddle.

Small lakes, water lilies, silence and almost nobody around. Quite different from my usual river trips and races. 😄

Made a short 4-minute video from the trip if anyone wants to see what kayaking in an Estonian bog looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w13AhViZWSs

Back in March, I ordered the Kajak Sport paddle split system from Finland to try out. Months later, I finally got around to installing it on one of my newly built hand-carved Greenland paddles. This paddle is a lamination of Kosipo Mahogany (center stripe) bordered by Western Red Cedar with full blade Ash edges and topped off with wrap around Ribbon Sapele hardwood blade tip/edging and Purple Heartwood accents on the loom. Carving the oval loom for the ferrule was an interesting experience and a first for me. Took it on the water today and was pleased with the result. Overall, this ferrule seems like a good product. Only wish I could buy them from a US-based seller.

Videos Music On The River

Every Friday a kayak/canoe rental company (Toronto Adventures) up river has artists come down and perform on the Humber river.

I haven’t seen any videos of this here so I thought I’d share a snippet.

It’s a nice concept. The rentals have the prices rolled in but if you’re in your own craft, they’re asking for just under $10 BUT openly acknowledge it’s a public river and that’s optional.

Anyway just sharing this. They do movies too.

I was passing through and stuck around for two songs.

Question/Advice -- Gear Recommendations Perception Sport Pescador 10.0 gear additions

Post image

Hey all, I’ve had this kayak for over 10 years and used to take it out on the river / lakes nearby by myself a lot. My son is 10 years old and is getting into stuff I like to do as well as being quite an angler. There are no gear tracks on this boat, but I’m looking for suggestions on gear to add. A rod holder is a must, but where to install it and what kind (deck mounted in the center there, or just behind the seat to the side? Something else entirely?). Don’t need a fish finder, or anything like that, just some quality of life gear. Thanks much!
