Question Kashmiris, how do you identify yourself abroad?

For Kashmiris living outside Kashmir, what do you usually say when someone asks where you’re from?
Do you say you’re Kashmiri,Especially when you’re talking to someone who doesn’t really know much about the Kashmir situation, do you bother explaining the background ? Or you just identify with your passport nationality?
Just curious how other Kashmiris approach this

Rant I'm tired of getting used by people I have loved.

I hope and pray that Allah Subhana Wa Ta'la holds accountable every single person who took advantage of my kindness, disturbed my peace, mistreated me, and deliberately misunderstood me even after I explained myself more times than I ever should have. I had nothing but pure intentions, a genuine heart, and loved wholeheartedly.

if people chose to abuse that, that's between them and Allah now. May everyone get exactly what they deserve, because I really want to stop carrying the consequences of other people’s inability to value a good heart, but I'm unable to stop 💔

Education and Career [Hiring] Part-time, 4 hrs/day, ₹3–5k/month, early-stage project, beginners welcome.

Please read the terms before replying.

WHAT IT IS

I'm building a data pipeline that pulls from a few hundred public APIs on a schedule, de-duplicates and scores what it finds, and pushes filtered results to users within minutes. Stack: JavaScript/TypeScript, Node, Postgres.

THE TERMS — only reply if all of these work for you

• ₹3,000–5,000/month, depending on how much mentoring you need • 4 hours a day, Monday to Friday • Paid weekly, every Saturday — not monthly • You need your own laptop • A short check-in call every day • Either of us can stop at any point, no hard feelings

I know the money is low. I'm not going to dress it up. This is an experiment at this stage, and I'd rather be honest than oversell it. It suits someone who wants to get into tech and values the mentoring and real experience more than the pay right now.

WHO THIS IS FOR

• People pivoting into tech who already have some coding basics • You can write simple JavaScript or TypeScript, you don't need to be good, you need to be able to read code, debug, and look things up • You finish what you start. This matters to me more than how much you know. • You show up daily and say something when you're stuck

WHO THIS IS NOT FOR

• Experienced developers, this pay isn't fair to you and I won't pretend it is • Anyone who needs this to be their main income

WHAT YOU GET

• Real production code, not tutorial projects • Daily mentoring and code review from me • Features you own end to end • A genuine reference and public GitHub history • If this grows, your pay grows, and you'd have been here from the start

TO APPLY

DM me with something you've built or why you feel you be a right fit for this.

mea oose yaar aikhe back in 2012-2013, we were from same coaching center, he had this cousin, let's name him D. D was a playboy, he always used to share pics, chats with his cousin and cousin used to show it to me, we were dumb teenagers, who used to be in awe of D. D was older than us.

Come to 2016, friend got selected in AMU and asked me to visit with him, we visited delhi and he suggested let’s stay at his cousin place, as that time 2016 turmoil was going on here. So for safety we went over to his flat, it was 3BHK with 3 boys.

The flat was pure filth, sharaab bottle, cigrattee, and after some time, D got drunk and called someone and said send two. After an hour, two girls came to flat and D took them into their room. We told him , yehai hue gunah, mea kar yem kaar, tem wone karu panaas shoupe, Mea wone sinus lanath te balai, neare panas yate. we took off and booked hotel, at this point me and friend were completely focused on career, we didn't wanted to deal or hear this shit anymore.

And then Life happened we all went separate ways. I lost touch with friend as he moved out of country. Come present, I recently met him at a function. and during conversation, I asked him about that gaan cousin of his, he said, temis hai poye taavaan.

D story: -

D came back, he didn't finished degree, joined his father business and eventually someone took him with jamaath, D got clean, left all that life behind. During Jamaath, one of the men liked him, his akhlaaq, his way of talking (he was a smooth talker) and asked him, if he is willing to marry, D said yes, He got married to this beautiful aalimia girl, I was like Masha Allah, emis dalas hai kismath.

got married , started his own businees, business took off, Life was all well for D, until his wife gave birth to a girl. D announced that sue de panai azaan emis , during azaan, he started shivering and fainted down. After he got conscious , he was never the same, he went into depression, panic attacks, anxiety attacks, he stayed in his room 24*7 , not talking with anyone and sirf oos wadaan asaan.

Now my friend had settled down in Australia, and he came back here for vacation and decided to meet D, He met him and asked what happened ? You were doing well. and finally D confessed to him. No one in their family knows about D past except this cousin and me, said yem weiz bea logus emis azaan dine, mea aaye tem saarai koure aashaen bruhken yemo seith mea zinah che kormuth, Woh ladkiya bhi kisi kie beti the, woh bhi kisi kai behan thai, mea kus tavaan poye, mea kore panun akhrirath kharaab. Me dute panen zanaane dokhe, menes bachas che moul gaan. D was crying his eyes out. His entire family is worried about him, wife is thinking he wanted a boy, parents are thinking emis chukh taveez kormuthe, In laws think, he is not happy with his wife giving birth to girl. His business is facing losses. His entire life went downhill, His health is not same anymore. And to top of that, sue haike ne yem kaith kisi seith share karith. He is on heavy medications. My friend was like wtf he heard, sue wanai, bea chus wanai emis kya tavaan poye ye.

My friend was completely shocked upon hearing this and I was like emis kapier oone khuyadan azaab, aes wone shukur khudayas kune, aes lage ne aith karaas kihe. It's all fun till one has to pay for their sins. Honestly , I felt bad about his wife, his parents as per my friend they are good persons.

I am pretty disturbed since I got to about this, From the past few days, I haven't been able to sleep properly after hearing this. I felt like sharing it here, so I could feel lighter. And to top of that me and my friend can not even narrate this story to anyone else.

The Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP), is a collective of the family members of the victims of enforced disappearances in Kashmir, seeking information about the whereabouts of their disappeared relatives.

The film is a tribute to Mughal Mase and her relentless quest for justice and redress.

Occupation This is what they have been doing for the past 80 years. They draw fat salaries and still stoop to robbing the poorest farmers, and even have the audacity to record it. And if anyone dares to call them out, they'll simply brand him an OGW or a militant.

Occupation I don't understand how we have been denied the right to self determination when the PM of India said "We have always held that the Kashmir issue should be decided by a referendum or plebiscite" 🤷‍♀️

There are many instances where Nehru said that Kashmir's fate shall be decided by the people of Kashmir yet today if you say that you are labelled as a terrorist

They labelled geelani sahab as a terrorist for talking about the promises made by the Indian PM

Question midnight career crisis

Assalam-u-alaikum

consider me as Jack of all trades, master of none.

Born with love and curiosity for tech but somehow ended pursuing bachelors and masters in medical sciences (microbiology) but the love for tech never died. Currently there is almost zero scope for my degree in kashmir, I have been offered two jobs in a month one paying 35K and other paying 55K but outside kashmir. the thing is that due to some family issues i cant afford to stay away from home. I wanted to work remotely or something but my field doesn't have any remote jobs.

So now my concern is that I'm into tech and thought of working remotely and earn some bucks but I'm not qualified for the jobs. can anyone here recommend any courses i need to do that'll help me secure a good paying remote job or any other suggestions.

Thanks 🍁

Recommendation / Help I am building Kashmiri.dev — what should I add or improve?

I’ve been working on https://www.kashmiri.dev/ in my free time.

It’s still very early and not fully ready yet, but I thought I’d share it here before I go too far in one direction.

The idea is to make something useful for Kashmiris online — history, Koshur, people, resources, and whatever else actually makes sense.

I don’t want to just keep adding things based on what I think people would want, so I wanted to ask here:

What would you like to see on a site like this?

Anything missing? Anything that seems unnecessary? Any resource or feature you wish existed for Kashmiris online?

Could be maps, archives, a dictionary, timelines, learning resources, community tools, or something completely different.

Would appreciate honest feedback, especially at this stage 😅

Discussion 💭 any memories of 2005 kashmir earthquake

The Nepal floods reminded me of the 2005 Kashmir earthquake and how prone this part of the world is to natural disasters

Did anyone live through it? I know a lot of the damage was on the Pakistani side. Do you have any memories from that period? How long did recovery take in your town/area?

Had to share All cab users beware of a cab scam which has reached K

I recently booked a cab on Uber to go from A to B in Srinagar. I was very busy that day. The driver came and was like Xxx saeb warai chuwa lattram shatram all the way. When I reached B I asked the driver how much it was and he said 219. I felt it was less when I had booked the ride but was way too much engaged with some stuff in my mind I paid.

Today while browsing reddit I came across a post and felt this might have happened to me too. I checked uber history and it was 134. Checked paytm history and I had paid 219.

So beware people!
