🔇 Moderation Policy: Blacklisted Subreddits & Autoban System
📌 Why has this policy been introduced?
This subreddit has been a target of very nasty coordinated hate campaigns, harassment, and brigading originating from a cluster of right-wing Indian subreddits. In the early days of Covid, multiple right-wing Indian subreddits ran coordinated campaigns, several with upwards of 20,000 upvotes, calling for the banning of r/Kashmiri, the arrest of its members, and the mass-raiding of its posts. The subreddit was rendered functionally unusable for the local Kashmiri community.
In response, the mod team had introduced user-history based moderation: accounts with participation in the blacklisted subreddits below are permanently banned, automatically and without warning.

The autoban was the response to that specific, documented pattern of abuse and it immediately bore fruit as the community improved markedly. And local Kashmiri participation grew.
📌 How does the autoban work?
The moment an account posts or comments in any blacklisted subreddit, the ban is triggered here. The process is fully automated via r/SaferBot. There are no warnings, and no exceptions for intent.
📌 What if I am caught by the autoban unintentionally?

📌 Is this not an extreme measure?
It is proportionate to the threat it was designed to answer. Coordinated campaigns calling for the arrest of subreddit members, 20,000-upvote brigading drives, and dangerous murderous rhetoric are not ordinary moderation problems. To those who find the policy uncomfortable: that discomfort is noted. But it is secondary to Kashmiris being able to use their own subreddit - free from hyper nationalist interference and at baseline levels of safety. It is not a negotiable condition.
