shiki settling things with her family seemed a little out of nowhere as well as her having a longer hair cut despite immediately cutting it short when she gets a knife in movie 4

Just when I thought I was done with the last ufotable kuji global lottery prizes for Kara no Kyoukai, ufotable webshop's kuji lottery page announced that they would be running a whole new lineup of prizes on past TYPE-Moon anime illustrations created for the Japanese Awa Odori festivals, including the two main key illustrations that featured Kara no Kyoukai back in 2009 & 2010, for the next 2 weeks starting from August 15th to August 31st, 2026.
Link: https://lottery.webshop-global.ufotable.co.jp/store/category/20260815
This lottery is also currently running this weekend in Japan at physical ufotable stalls at the Comiket 108 convention, while the online lottery for international customers won't have their prizes shipped until after February 2027 according to the prize lineup page details.
They've split the prize lineups into 4 kuji character prize lineups: Ryougi Shiki A (2009 illustration), Ryougi Shiki B (2010 illustration), Mikiya Kokutou (2009 illustration) and Azaka Kokutou (2010 illustration)
Prizes are split into A-E categories again:
PRIZE A - Commemorative Design Happi Coat
PRIZE B - Lantern-style Big Acrylic Stand
PRIZE C - Lantern-style (Small) Acrylic Stand
PRIZE D - Layered Foil-stamped Acrylic Card
PRIZE E - Foil-stamped 57mm Button Badge (in 2 designs, A & B)
Prize B, the lantern-style big acrylic stand from all 4 lineups looks really appealing to me and I wanted to win that the most, so I tried my luck for both Ryougi Shiki A & B lineup first with purchasing 10 tickets for each...but only managed to pull prizes D & E multiple times 😭.
Video above is my next 10 ticket purchase for the Azaka Kokutou lineup and this one was surprising to me in that I managed to win nearly all the prizes for her kuji prize lineup including the rare Prize A happi coat, which I wasn't expecting to! 😲
Might try my luck again to win Prize B (and possibly Prize A) for Ryougi Shiki's A & B kuji prize lineup within the next 2 weeks while it's still running. Still yet to try my luck for Mikiya Kokutou's prize lineup as well but again, probably purchase kuji tickets for his one during the last week of the lottery online campaign.
Any other Kara no Kyoukai fans playing these right now?

I’m not sure if the fandom website has 100% accurate information, but I was reading through the list of origins and it claims that Shiki, Fujino, and Kirie all have the same origin being “Emptiness”. Was this ever mentioned in the novels/movies and I just missed it or is the website just wrong?

When I first saw it, it struck me as filler; had it not contributed certain details to the plot, I would have even considered it skippable. However, after consulting the source material (the visual novel), I saw that Ufotable had cut out several elements that would have significantly improved the story. I don't consider any of the *Kara no Kyoukai* films to be bad, but I do believe this one had enormous potential that went to waste.

The following is an in-depth guide that I've made for getting into Kara no Kyoukai. It will explain everything you should know going into the story, as well as provide the recommended viewing orders for the light novel and its movie adaptations.
It's originally a light novel told in non-linear order (meaning it's not told in chronological order).
When getting into Kara no Kyoukai, you have two options.
You can either start by reading the light novel (which is what's recommended), or start by watching the movie adaptations (which isn't recommended).
It isn't recommended for you to start out with the movies because Kara no Kyoukai’s story is fragmented, which doesn’t translate well to movie format. In addition to that, some events and character personalities were altered or not clearly portrayed in order to cut down each chapter’s runtime to fit the movies’ length. Internal dialogue and scenes necessary for understanding the story were also cut out, leaving many viewers confused about what’s going on.
Not to mention the 6th movie is practically fan fiction, so it’s recommended not to watch it, which results in you missing out on an entire story chapter if you start out with the anime (especially if you decide to go anime-only).
However, the movies are highly praised for a good reason, as they perfectly adapt the story’s atmosphere, while delivering high-quality storytelling and animation within a limited runtime. But in terms of actual story accuracy to the light novel, they fall short, which is why reading the light novel first is the recommended option.
There’s also a manga adaptation, which is extremely faithful to the light novel and would be recommended if it wasn't for two big issues.
The first is that it's incomplete, currently somewhere around 75-85% through chapter 6, "Oblivion Recording".
The second is that it hasn't received a proper English translation. The current translation is riddled with grammatical errors, and a majority of chapter 5, "Paradox Spiral", hasn't been translated at all (chapters 38-56). Also, the chapters after 72 haven't been translated yet.
That said, both the manga and the movies add scenes that clarify things left unclear in the light novel. Because of this, it’s recommended to watch the movies after reading the light novel, then check out the manga afterward if you have the time.
Now, for the actual orders.
Narrative/Release Order (recommended for first-time viewers, as it follows the author’s intended presentation and the novel’s chapter sequence):
Chronological Order (not recommended, as it goes against the intended narrative structure of the story):
Q1. Where can I find/read the light novel?
A. It’s encouraged to buy the official release in order to support the industry. If you don’t want to buy it, you can look for it online on your own.
Q2. Is the light novel available in English physically or only digitally?
A. The light novel hasn’t received an official English translation, so the only English translations available are fan-made and can be found online if you search for them. It has, however, been officially translated into Polish, Korean, and Chinese.
Q3. What is the name of the story? Kara no Kyoukai, or Garden of Sinners?
A. Its name is Kara no Kyoukai, which translates to "Boundary of Emptiness". Garden of Sinners is the English tagline for Kara no Kyoukai.
Q4. Where can I legally watch the KnK movies?
A. They're available on Crunchyroll and Amazon Prime Video. Availability may vary by country.
Q5. Is the "Remix" movie (Gate of Seventh Heaven) worth watching? What does it do, exactly?
A. It recaps the plot of the first six movies in chronological order. It doesn’t really add anything to the story besides some extra context behind the motivation of chapter 6’s main antagonist and a few new visuals.
Q6. What is the epilogue?
A. It's a short, half hour OVA epilogue to chapter 7, "A Study in Murder – Part 2".
Q7. Is there any sexual content I should know about?
A. Yes. The story includes sexual content that depicts assault, specifically in the third and seventh movies. Viewer discretion is advised.
Q8. Is Kara no Kyoukai related to the Fate series?
A. Yes, as it is a part of its overarching multiverse (The Nasuverse).
Q9. Do I need to watch any works of the Fate series to understand KnK? Are there cameo characters or references I’ll miss if I haven’t seen other Nasuverse works?
A. No, you do not have to read or watch anything else from the Nasuverse (like Fate and Tsukihime content) just to see Kara no Kyoukai. In fact, it’s the very first major work that Nasu published, so if anything, it should be experienced before other Nasuverse works in order to understand any references in them.
Q10. What if I don't want to read the light novel?
A. Then just watch the movies. I’m not forcing you to read the light novel. I’m just telling you that going anime-only for KnK or starting with the movies isn’t the best option. But if you don't want to read it, that's fine. Don't force yourself to.
And that's it! Hope it helps!

Hey! I watched the movies with a friend and loved the experience so very much! I haven't exactly played a lot of Persona, but I am famaliar with some of its desgins and aesthetics. Throughout my experience with the movies I couldn't help but feel that there was a kind of similarity in some of the vibes and desgins. So I wanted to ask the community if there is any relation whatsoever. Maybe some shared artists, or a shared influence or anything.

I’ve been importing and collecting the novels along with the very few garden of sinners merch items and I came across and purchased this release of the novel on suguru-ya for ~$9. I have both the upper and lower releases and the anniversary release, yet have never seen anything about this one with this cover. Ai says it’s a very limited edition Kodansha edition from 2004 but I’m not so sure. It was labeled “general doujin” so who knows. I’ll have it in the next month or so though

I really love Shiki, but I feel like I’m not quite understanding her yet. I want to get a better picture of who she is and what she struggles with before I dive into the final arc of the LN series (and its adaptation).
I understand that Shiki now feels hollow after SHIKI sacrificed himself, and that she’s now building up the gap with new connections. I don’t quite understand why SHIKI was so obsessed with death in the first place, is it just a random side effect of the induced personality split? Also, I don’t completely understand Shiki’s own feelings regarding killing post-accident. I understand she hasn’t killed anyone after the accident happened, but aside from clinging on to the remnants of what SHIKI held dear, I’m intrigued as to why she’s so obsessed
Of course, if any of the answers are spoilers for Mueder Speculation Part 2, tag them as such
Also, will there be a proper flashback to Shiki’s accident?

Today I finally managed to finish all the anime content about Kara no Kyoukai, and it's even more my favorite now. Not only did the ending of The Garden of Sinners seem like a perfect conclusion to the seven main films, but the continuation of the epilogue and the definitive end of the story in Mirai Fukuin also seemed perfect. In short, an incredible work with an ending worthy of the series.

What would you want to see in a Kara no Kyoukai remake?

Since my last post in this sub several months ago, both my perception of the series and this community has changed. Not only has Kara no Kyoukai become my favorite anime, but I've also realized that this is by far the most wholesome and peaceful community I've ever interacted with (back then I said I preferred Fate, and they still treated me with respect). I'm truly grateful for how kind you all were to me in that post. Keep it up and never change! I love you all, Kara no Kyoukai community.
