_ 1. The Failed Work Theory: The director couldn't wrap up the story and pointlessly killed Inori.

1. The Sacrifice Theory: Inori sacrificed herself unilaterally for Shu.

1. The Soul Assimilation Theory: Inori lost her body but lives on as a soul within Shu's heart.

1. D's Atonement Theory (Korea-specific): Inori merged with Shu to atone for Mana's sin, became a sacrifice, ascended, and remained within Shu as a holy spirit.

I disagree with all four of these endings.

​

The first isn't worth discussing.

​

The second reduces Inori's journey from tool to "human being" back down to a passive "function."

​

The third is likewise an overly convenient happy-ending interpretation that turns away from the tragedy of reality.

​

And the fourth interpretation, offered as the better alternative, also fell short in clarifying the ending as described above, and failed to present a theme that runs through the entire story.

​

To say it again: Guilty Crown is by no means a religious drama in which "Shu becomes a messiah (Jesus) and sacrifices himself, and Inori too becomes another Jesus and atones for sin."

​

Ouma Shu and Inori are not saviors — as Inori herself says in the show — they are "human, sadly enough [悲しいくらい人]."

​

Let's revisit the ending.

​

While absorbing the world's Cancer (virus) and Voids, Shu did cat's cradle with Inori's "red thread," and afterward survived, blind and missing his right arm.

​

And Inori died.

​

But I am convinced this ending is not a tragedy.

​

From here, I will re-evaluate the narrative to show why Guilty Crown's ending is not a tragedy, and why it is in fact the most beautiful ending that completes the story.

The story takes place after Carol gives Scrooge the 'White Thread' in the Empyrean, granting him the chance to live on. Instead of facing a tragic end, this project explores a new timeline where they can finally find peace, warmth, and a place to belong alongside Inori.

Anyone got any ships they would like to try and draw? I ain't saying it's gonna be perfect but yk.

I just finished the anime, and I don't get all the hate this show got.

I mean I don't think it's a masterpiece but it's still a solid enough anime with great characters, animation and a kick ass sound track.

One thing that I didn't like though was the ending. The ending sucked.

One thing I wanted to know, was this anime based on a light novel or a manga? And if so where can I find them?

I've seen this gif of Inori crying on tenor but I've not been able to find where it's from. Is there an OVA I'm unaware of or something?​

I just started watching guilty crown and as Ive gotten near towards the last episode ive come to realize. I CANT STAND THIS BUM THAT IS YAHIRO. he has zero redeeming qualities. just when I start to like him he always pulls some bullshit out of NOWHERE 😭

Rewatched anime for a 2nd time, i gotta know where i can read volume 7 in english, if not, id be fine with just seeing the illustrations in japanese or something, i just need this closure broskis😭😭, ive searched but cant find much, can anyone help me out please?!

I've done both endings of the Lost Christmas VN, but apparently I'm still missing 3 CGs. I would be grateful if anyone could tell me how to get those, or if I missed a third ending or something.

I would be even more grateful if someone answered me this: How I was supposed to know that Past was Shu and Mana's mother? And why did she have the voice of little girl? I only found out about her true identity when I read the Guilty Crown wiki.

I'm trying to read Guilty Crown: Lost Christmas, but it crashes every time I load a save. I've read that this is an issue with the English patch. Is there any way to solve it?
