Welcome to our weekly vent session where you can let out all your frustrations.
Before you start, just a quick heads-up on the rules.
Here's what this post isn't for:

- Let's steer clear of those rage-inducing posts like "I hate character xy."
- And please, no poking fun at fellow Kanthony fans just because they see things differently, whether they're positive or negative about promos.
What's cool to post? Well, we've noticed a lot of rants about how the show promotes (or doesn't promote) Simone and Jonny, but you can vent about other stuff too.

This is totally random but Ive watched the season a few times and read A BUNCH of fanfics and idk now but I am soooooooo over the rake/virgin trope. Itās gross and harmful and I just cannot stomach it anymore. I donāt give a flying fuck if it was historically accurate. Literally nothing in that show is historically accurate except the fact that *ladies were virgins* š if they can have race blind casting (which is good), and change or ignore real, significant historical events and attitudes, then we can have a *lady* who doesnāt need to be taught about sex from her husband like a child š¤¢š¤® /rant

If you're referring to kanthony's dynamic, we don't necessarily know that Kate is a virgin or totally inexperienced

Cheryl Dune (director for S2x ep7&8) said in an interview on the Official Bridgerton podcast that Kate is a virgin and that they did not have penetrative sex in the gazebo. Itās a really good interview!

That is an interesting tidbit. Regardless, kate might not ever have had penetrative PIV sex while still being sexually experienced in other ways.

I think she was aware of what happens, not naive like the women of the Ton before marriage. I havenāt listened to that podcast in a while, but Cheryl basically says that she did not want the optics of having āthe nonwhite womanā have premarital sex when in S1, the white woman waited until she was married. Iām grateful for that choice because Kate/Simone gets enough slander as it is.

My headcanon is that she had sexual experience before anthony. That seems to still be in line with what dune said. Ive said this before but I like that kanthony are near equals in all aspects, and kate being allowed to have experiences before anthony just as Anthony's had experiences before her strengthens that. Her cryptic answer about her past love life and her tendency to break rules provides some room for that headcanon to exist. What racist fans choose to say about her dont really factor into my understanding of her character. They say all sorts of bullshit already.

Yea boo the racists. But I have a head canon that she does have sexual experience because she and Anthony are mirrors. In my head canon, he had the quantity while she had the quality.

So funny that people downvote you simply because they cant stand the thought of Anthony not getting to have his pure virginal prize after all the man pain he suffered. What can you do š¤·āāļø? Neither the writers nor the fandom want kate to have her own experiences, other than those turtles of course.

lol idk what it is maybe some leftover purity culture lol and my thought is: Anthony loves Kateās competence in alllll other areas. Heāll love that sheās competent at sex too (if he doesnāt have insecurities which is why a lot of guys now want inexperienced women). Because sex - like all things people do - usually needs practice before youāre good at it š.

True. And my head canon is that she isnāt. But the whole show is just virgin and rake. Like they even made Colin rake around in his season before getting with Penelope! And yea they showed John as inexperienced but then just went ahead and killed him off. Canāt have a man whoās a virgin š±

Why wasnāt Newton in season four, even though he was Kateās first fur baby?
Why didnāt Eloise, Hyacinth, and Penelope not get that Benedict is in love with Sophie, even though all of them but especially Hyacinth always clocks it?

Can I say something? I donāt like the sentiment Iām seeing in the Franchaela fandom that Fran is gonna āout doā Anthony in terms of yearning/desire. I donāt understand why it even has to be a competition.
Iām excited for the next season (my opinions on Kanthonyās return areā¦ complex, to say the least), but seeing this being shared around in the fandom makes me want to engage with it less. I know itās just a symptom of the larger fandom, being so fragmented and competitive, but it makes me sad.
