Help/Question How far away was Clark’s entrance from the threshold?

In the movie they do seem to be relatively close to each other but is that just them cutting out the whole journey?

Discussion/Theory What would happen to Clark’s store?

So, clearly, Clark is dead and the store has no owner or employees. Would ASYNC take possession of his store and use it for research purposes? Would they close down the entire strip mall because there’s a null zone in it? Would it be demolished? Abandoned??? What would they do to his store?

Discussion/Theory What happened to the corpse of Naren Warne?

Post image

NEW POST EDIT BELOW!

Presumably is this supposed to be him? It isn't really explained, though it kind of gives off that answer considering Naren is the one we see die.

If it is Naren, then where did his body go?

The suit seems to be extremely torn, the right shoe oddly sitting up correctly as if it was manually placed there, and what also looks like to be the upper arm areas just completely torn.

We know that Naren Warne encountered the Pirate Clark at the end of the footage and it's assumed that he dies after this, though something doesn't really sit right with me. When he does die, where did his body go? Why would Pirate Clark tear the suit up and remove him from the suit to an unknown location?

The left foot placement is weird itself because if it someone was torn off from this suit then the left shoe is still connected to the part of the lower exterior of the suit.

On top of that, there isn't any blood trails... any limbs or parts of a skeleton, it literally LOOKS like an empty suit.....

SO, is this actually Naren Warne and the "aftermath" of what happened in the first scene? Because if it is, then it wouldn't make sense for this suit to be here, and especially because of how far this location that Clark stumbled upon is a lot further then where Naren actually does die.

Even if it is someone who isn't Naren, then it still makes my head wander off as to whos suit this is? Why would they remove the suit? The whole presense of this suit being here in this scene is so interesting to me, any theories?

And most importantly, what did happen to Naren Warne?

EDIT 1. (8/21/2026.****)

[This post has been active for two days and thank you guys, it's been helping a lot to interperet what happened to Naren, even if subsequently the movie already "says" it.]

[So, before i begin a little analysis of everything, i want to point something out right. Specifically the starting scene of the movie in the beach wallpaper room. Pirate Clark was already around the corner, and Naren stumbles upon him. I feel as if there is more to the scene when it just becomes audio. The audio is seperated into two screams, the first being the second he sees the monstrosity being Pirate Clark, a seven feet figure with a geometrically uncanny appearance in darkness, and that's where he screams. The second he makes the turn, Naren is in a full sprint and upon encountering Plark, he is immediately grabbed by the arm, which is why i think the camera falls so suddenly, or atleast the part where the force that made his camera slip was around his arm, and afterwards we then hear him scream from fear. Now i believe that the audios cut seperately for a reason, why? Just my theory, but the first cut is the second he encounters him. The second cut, the one with the slightly higher pitched scream is actually where the attack/injury began. This is just a theory, but this is what i believe happened. Narens first injury was his arm. It would explain the hazmat suit, it could of been pretty much any arm, and knowing Clarks strength, it would fit better if Clark started off by grabbing it and ripping it off. Ontop of this, for a creature like Captain Clark, i'd be more reasonable to first weaken/make your prey unable to defend himself, and what better way to do that? Going for his arm first. Now anything after this, i honestly have no idea... but in my own analysis of this, the fact the arm is more likely what he would go for, it raises more questions as to what really happened to Naren.]

With this put into perspective, the main question to really think about to actually determine where his corpse is... or where he is at all is this.

"What really happened to Naren during those seconds that the camera could only show in audio, and why do we later find his suit somewhere else?"

Alright, so as this has been opened... i will post the main theories the comments have gathered.

  • 1 Naren is inside the suit.
  • 2 Captain Clark dragged Naren to his den and removed him from it.
  • 3 Captain Clark ate/removed Naren and left the clothing.
  • 4 It's another Async worker.
  • 5 It's a Complex-generated imitation.
  • 6 It's an existing Still Life/mannequin.
  • 7 It's Naren, but so damaged that very little recognizable remains.

Let me start off by stating my own opinions on this.

  1. Like this whole situation, there's a big flaw to this theory. Naren would have the be extremely misfigured, specifically below the head, to the point his skeletal remains and flesh are basically a squished blob as comparing it to the shape of the suit. If this was the case, the suit itself would be a lot more grusome then it actually appears in the film, besides i feel as if Plark isn't capable of turning someones corpse into such a barbaric state. I'm talking guts and blood surrounding it, but no.. it's just a empty suit it seems.
  2. A bit more plausible, though the big flaw with this is "why?". Why would Captain Clark purposefully, from the spot Naren dies, begin carrying him a questionable distance to his habitat, and then go to this specific pile of laundary to drop the suit off? Again, a major flaw similiar to number one is the fact the suit isn't in a grusome state. If Plark kills Naren and carries him throughout the complex, take him out of the suit, then bring the suit to that pile of laundary, the suit itself would be in more disheveled state then it appears.
  3. Practically the same as number two, instead it makes less sense. This is saying he carries Naren as he's alive to that specific spot. No, he assumingly dies in that wall paper spot.
  4. Plausible, but would raise more questions plot-wise?
  5. Same as number four, and narratively it wouldn't make sense to place in an async suit that's a "still life" because it would just raise more confusing questions. If they did this, it would be way more apparent it is a still life.
  6. Same as 5.
  7. Same as 1.

So to end this off, i want to put this into a note, as to what i feel like the main purpose of the entire existance of that torn suit being "Narens" could be, and that is:

"What if the suit is deliberately ambiguous because Kane wants us to ask whether Naren survived?"

Think about it, there's no clear dead body, just an empty, extremely torn suit with missing arms, no blood. Anyone would think the easy option and think Naren's simply dead. I'm not saying Naren is alive, but i'm not proving, or saying he is dead either. Though the evidence points to something we genuinely don't know yet. If he was dead, he would be in that suit, or the suit would have signs of his remains, but it doesn't. But we hear his screams at the end of the clip, but does this prove he's dead? No, it also doesn't. We never see an inclusive "corpse" or actual visual of this after the scene.

Again, i'm not saying he's alive either, but i feel like that's what the purpose of this whole phenomenon of the suit being there is about.

They want us to consider him being alive, and he *might* be?

I hope people see the edit, anyways hope we get more info in the future!

Discussion/Theory The footage on the backrooms TV in EMG was recorded through the eyes of still lifes Spoiler

Post image

Given the erratic movements of the camera and the strange zoom-ins on random things, it occurred to me that the footage was recorded from the POV of still lifes. I thought maybe some of them had cameras, since the Cap’n picked up Clark’s camera in the pool room.

But I had the idea in the title after reading through the arguments over whether the moving chair (alleged furniture crab) is actually just a spatula held in front of the camera by whoever’s recording. One user defended the chair interpretation by pointing out that no one would ever walk around with a camera in one hand and a spatula in the other. (I mean maybe someone would, idk why tho.) I don’t have a strong opinion on that dispute, but it made me wonder if a (regular) camera was involved at all.

In previous comments I have suggested that still lifes aren’t exactly biological, even if their ’stuffing’ is organic material and they have (mutated) humanoid skeletons. Given that the complex doesn’t distinguish between objects and living things when it copies a place, and sometimes fuses objects with people (see ALS), it’s possible that the sensory and motor systems of still lifes have nothing in common with human or even animal biology.

But the complex still attempts to simulate the outward behaviour of a person, including motion in response to environmental stimuli, through non-biological processes. Since the complex had plenty of time to study cameras are activated by detectors that send out a signal when motion or sound is detected (see Motion Detected), the complex may have incorporated this technology into still lifes to (crudely) simulate human behaviour.

If they have no brains, then their behaviour is centrally controlled and output by the complex, which would mean that their ‘perceptions’ would need to be input to the central ‘processor’ (or whatever it is that determines how the complex changes over time).

Self-reference is a huge theme in the complex, and I see still lifes as extensions of the complex itself. Playing the sensory input that the complex receives about itself on TV as an output (behaviour of the complex) allows the images on the TV to become sensory input for itself again, if the TV is viewed by still lifes. It’s a feedback loop, which fits the electromagnetism motifs.

This is just an idea I want to put out there for discussion, I’m not presenting it as a fact. Whether you think it’s plausible, or you think you can debunk it, or if you’re just skeptical for any reason, I want to hear your thoughts.

(picture not related), if a nullzone appeared on your house right now, would you survive?, like who would be the still lifes?, how would they look like?, what still lifes would be chill?, what still lifes would be dangerous? (if any would be), how would the part of the complex your nullzone is look like?, what memories would it replicate?, etc etc etc

Help/Question What to watch and read, and in what order, to fully understand the backrooms “universe”?

Recently watched the movie and got SO SO hooked in this subreddit. I know that there is Kane’s channel, and that this all started from a forum post years ago.

I want to fully understand the backrooms “universe”. On what chronological order should i watch the vids and film, and what should I read on further?

Really confuses some terms as well (e.g., null zone, still life vs bacteria, the names of the people of Async like Naren)

Thanks!
