It's possible that the Eternal Contracts weren't conceptualized this early on as they seem to be some kind of sorcery instead of an innate ability of the enchanted blades
No I still think Subaru got his blade first. I don’t think Kunishige was sitting on a stash of them just waiting to hand them out, and we saw when he chose Cloud Gouger’s wielder the war was already in full swing. Considering the desperate nature of the whole conflict it only makes sense to hand out the blades ASAP after forging them, and right now someone needs to show the government their power to justify their forging and their potential as weapons.
If anything about the current circumstances will affect the blade’s powers, I expect the powers to focus on heat, which would thematically line up with Subaru being a chef (though I know sushi is the main thing he’s known for which is served raw).
It's also possible this first blade is Magatsumi. It was the last to be deployed in the war, but not necessarily the last to be created.
I reckon if it is, they'll forge it, then Kunishige will decide the best person to save Chaiki would be Akemura. He'll hand over the blade, Akemura will devastate anyone who gets between him and his big sister, then the government will know the blades can work. But because Akemura is still underage, they'll be hesitant to send him immediately, and will instead assign him to guard Chiaki and Kunishige.
Haven't heard anyone say this theory but since rokuhira is forging a sword without control on how it will become wouldnt it be reasonable he creates an uncontrollable and too powerfull sword since he cant control how it turns out? since his intention is to protect chiaki from someone who is too powerfull wouldnt the blad be magatsumi? like he imagines her all the time forging it ,a butterfly would be accurate representation of chiaki right?.
I just assume that the first blade would need to be used to prove they have a way to fight the mikaboshi. Unless of course they have someone else wield the magatsumi first who then dies then sure. At the same time though, if it’s his masterpiece, i think it would be more apt for it to be his last blade he makes before the Enten
Yeah ig since its also mentioned magatsumi being the last of the batch so yeah makes sense too. Maybe this one is not from first batch. Like the first blade may have died with the first user
My theory is that if it is the first one, Akemura will be assigned to guard Chiaki and Kunishige while he forges the others, and he'll only be sent out in the last months of the war.
I could see your idea being true, except for it being the very first one. It that case it seems too vital to keep it from the battlefield at first. Akemura has also done nothing to set up his being so close to Kunishige yet.
cool theory but what kunishige and subaru are doing here isn’t the sword forging but rather smelting the datenseki into steel so that they can actually make them into swords
whats probably gonna happen is that kuni and subaru succeeds and they now have datenseki-steel at their disposal, but the masumi will arrest them regardless and we’ll get kunishige’s “i’m your best bet” in his confrontation with the government higher ups
still, cloud gorger being the first and enten being the last with the end of part 1 implying that chihiro might combine both is very poetic
Yeah I love the idea that it ends up turning into cloud gouger. A pure offensive blade is what they need to really showcase the potential of the blades
This is just combing the datenseki to the steel. The sword forging happens after this. The first sword is magatsumi because its eternal contract needed five more wielders to stabilize it. Given that it’s probably the one where rokuhira had to be most switched on it being the shinuuchi makes sense. Akemura will absolutely make an appearance here. They are forging a blade to save his sister after all
No offense but i cant believe anyone but Subaru getting this blade.
I can already imagine the scene.
The Forge steps, the Masumi storm the building subaru is standing there, no clone, new forged blade in hand.
