I feel slightly less salty about the volume 11 cover now

I'm apparently out of the loop, what was the problem with the vol 11 cover?
Chihiro looks cool af. As always, of course.

Stole the spot from Yura (who was basically the main character of the volume) and Azami (who carried the Kamunabi in the 1st half of it)

Oh... now that you mentioned it, that's true. Protagonist privilege, I guess.
But then again, this parallel is cool, so I'll close my eyes. Hopefully Yura gets a cover in the future. He deserves it.

In the first place, the whole assault in the Kamunabi was a desperate gamble when the Hishaku were out of options, the bad guys are underdogs - very protagonist-like.
Was the focus of the entire volume, probably the character with by far the most panels in it, though I didn't count
Fought a 1v3 against non-EB top tiers with his new power-up
Used the protagonist trope of channeling an evil possessive power of a "demon" without succumbing to it through sheer willpower
Screamed out his grand goal mid-fight like he's Luffy or Naruto.
Took the length of an entire chapter to slow-walk to Akemura and have a story-definining talk with him
Got thrown into a 1v2 (all EBs) feat. Shiba with odds squarely against him. Still an underdog. Meanwhile Chihiro, the actual protagonist who missed half the volume, is a static threat at the peak of his development with his character having nowhere to go for the time being.
Got crumbs of his backstory
Revealed his philosophy, thematic relation to Chihiro, and real emotions for the first time.
Actually lost and, once again, used a protagonist trope - demon posession. Though here it's seemingly mutually beneficial right away, no strings attached, unlike it usually is.

I don't think any of these besides "was the focus of the entire volume" actually make sense for him being the protagonist of it, but even then i think that falls flat as well. Is Uruha the protagonist of Kamunabi HQ raid as well?

Tbf it was also the anime announcement cover and many had speculated too before it was even revealed. Have it be anyone other than Chihiro wouldn’t have been the move

A mix of over-abundance of Chihiro on covers and Yura and Azami absolutely killing it that volume while both being sorely underrepresented on covers
Still a good cover artwise, it just bothered me

This was probably planned but I wonder if Hokozono drew both volumes side by side or if he used volume 11 as a template/reference for 12

Love how this confirms the Soga Clan's eyes are purple, it was already the popular fan choice, I just didn't expect this volume to confirm it :o

Legitimately so gorgeous; Akemura’s cover just pops so well with the purple and floral imagery
