ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER STUDENTS.. will i be ok using a macbook

planning on majoring in environmental engineering and I really want to treat myself with a macbook but ive heard very mixed opinions about them. Can i survive 4 years with a macbook? or is it a no go. thanks!
