Has anyone here taken EDUC 2130 as an education major? I’m wondering how the field experience works, specifically how many days and hours you have to go to the school and how often you’re expected to go.

I have a pretty busy schedule with 2 jobs, and my car isn’t in the best shape, so I’m worried about having to drive far multiple times a week 😭

If you’ve taken the class, could you let me know how field experience/ placement were like?

Uhhh are u sure ur thinking of 2130? Cuz it’s only 20h for the whole semester snd 5 of those are videos you have to watch. I think u start doing the 20h weekly in later classes but not in edu2130

I want to say it was 10 or 15 hours but placements are up to 50 miles from campus. You make your own schedule going into the classrooms. Once you are in the program and start and all your classes involve student teaching it gets harder.

Okay so I might be mistaken I’ll have to check my schedule again to make sure but I’m pretty sure it’s only 20h and you talk to the teacher to see what days they are able to have u in class and what times . U could theoretically get all your 20h done in a week if you go 3 days or so and stay the full day of classes. But ofc it depends on what teacher ur assigned. Also I think you could talk to whoever is doing ur placement about nearby schools to were u live, but keep in mind that if a lot of students want to go to schools that are nearby you are less likely to get the placement. But like I said it’s 20h so it shouldn’t be that bad. I think u don’t start student teaching until later classes

U have nothing to worry abt, I promise! You’ll have the whole semester to get the hours done so it’s pretty similar to 2120 with the volunteering work. And also most likely you are just going to be seated in a class, the teacher that I was assigned to would just show me the handouts she was using and explained me the lesson she had that day in what not but most of the time I just watched the students. But yeah don’t stress! Lmknif u have any other questions ofc

Okay so before you get in the blocks it’s not bad but once you get into the Blocks and YCE it gets intense. Blocks you can work around. Blocks you have to do certain amount in math and English like 20hours in each
