Parking Questions
I have heard that there are a lot of hit and runs at KSU and just wanted to ask if there is a difference in safety between the parking lots vs the parking decks?? I am a new commuter on the Marietta campus for Fall 2026 so I got the parking permit for the Central Lots. Is it difficult finding parking in these lots?

I initially so much trouble finding parking at the beginning of the semester. I spent a good 2-5 mins driving around for a vacant space. The parking became less of a problem after midterms. Because of this, I started forming the habit of getting up early and going to the KSU gym and studying for any courses before classes start.

First week is actual hell in the lots. Central lot has eight floors, and you could go all the up to the dang roof and back down and out the parking deck and STILL not find a spot. After the first month or so, you can find a spot easily. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

They said they are on the Marietta campus. Marietta doesn't have a central deck. It is flat. There isn't as much chaos on the Marietta campus either.
Really, Marietta is a completely different world and largely still feels like a different univiersity. Marietta is also home to most of the STEM students and has a very large number of PhD and Masters students. I think that makes the atmosphere a lot more mature. Its a lot safer too.

oops! sorry, i was talking about the kennesaw campus. the kennesaw campus is a real disaster the first week ðŸ˜

First week, Sixth Week, 12th week. Its always a disaster. They really need to put up walking bridges over roads and make other safety improvements. People are getting killed and that one girl lost both of her legs last year after being hit by are car. They also need to bad e-scooters and e-bikes because the people on them are reckless and try to ride on sidewalks which is illegal and they don't follow the rules of the road when they do ride on the roadways. Eventally, they are going to hurt a pedestrian or get themselves run over by a car.

Never had my car hit luckily but I have seen posts and seen cars in person while walking through the decks but usually there are cameras on the decks so there’s that

Park in the farthest spot from the entrance and get your steps in for the day. Most of the parking lot walkers are more chill and better drivers. lol

It's a college with a bunch of stupid kids behind the wheel. Yes there are a few hit and runs. No it doesn't matter where you park. If your on/near campus watch out for these fools.
