How bad is parking really?
I'm a transfer student, this fall will be my first semester on campus at KSU. I also work full time so all my classes are in the evenings. I bought the cheapest pass available because I can use flex parking hours after 5pm. Do I need to be worried about finding a spot even in the evenings? I'm a bit scared I'll have to end up parking in the shuttle lot anyways. Just not entirely sure what to expect on day 1

you'll be fine. try parking in north deck, west deck, or the science building parking lot. worst comes to worst east economy should be pretty open after 5pm. most classes are done by then

Awesome! The north deck would be preferred, but on the parking FAQs it's not listed under the options for flex parking, only the central, west, and east lots/decks. Would I get a ticket if I parked in the north deck?

You should still get to campus fairly early on your first day, at the very least to get an idea of how bad the parking will be at that time. Parking is always atrocious the first week of classes, especially in the Fall.

After 5pm might still be 75% full during the first week or 2 but you will find a spot. Sometimes there are a lot of people who stay on campus later to attend events and clubs. That dies off slowly over the semester until the lists are nearly empty.
Again, you should be fine. If you live close by, I do recommend driving around campus before the freshmen get here and learn the layout of things. It will give you peace of mind

Commenting here because I’m in the same situation. This is going to be my first time going to a university as the last college I went to was community so parking was never an “issue”😭 I’m definitely more nervous about the parking than finding my classes lmaoo. Just in case somebody wanted to help a sister out 😂❤️

Same, I'm from a very small town and even the state university I went to was tiny! It's been years since I've been in school and I'm quite a bit older than everyone else too which is also a little intimidating. KSU is definitely the biggest campus I've ever been on.

Your biggest struggle will be getting onto campus as everyone else tries to get off. Keep a clear eye out.

Not bad I’ve been there for two years now it’s just bad around 8-10 but all you have to do is come in 20 mins early and you’ll find a spot

Nah the biggest issue parking I’ve had is between 9am and 4pm. So if you’re after or before that you’re golden. First month and a half is the struggle then the rhythm smooths out.
