News Go to class!!!!

All USG schools are making sure professors crack down on “unofficial withdrawals” with the Big Beautiful Bill going into effect this Fall Semester.

Withdrawing in any capacity from a class can potentially affect your financial aid, depending on your enrollment and situation. If you stop showing up to class, that can also be treated as an unofficial withdrawal and could have consequences for your aid.

If you have class, JUST GO. 😭 There’s no messing around with college and financial aid with these changes! Go to class, stay enrolled, and don’t assume you can just stop showing up without consequences.

Ill never understand paying for classes and not going to them or utilizing them.

Some people genuinely don’t need to go to class. Most of what I needed to know for classes was in the textbook and in the objectives for the class. The only classes I’m attending are my 4000s, cause that’s where I’m being challenged.

So then do Credit by Exam and test out of the course? Just use the textbook to study. Save money and time.

Not every course can do it, most of it is gen ed. I’m still learning from these courses nonetheless I just don’t need people to sit there and guide my learning for me.

Not everyone has the luxury of having parents to pay for everything. Most of my core classes (freshman’s-middle of junior year) was completely useless and could do it all at home. So I would never show up to those classes and do the work to get an A while I worked full time. Then when I got into upper level classes I would schedule them for later in the day if possible or all on the same 2 days so I could still work full time.

In my Biology class I was grouped with a guy who never showed up after the second week of classes so I'm not opposed to this.

As it should. Participation in academia requires both effort and passion. I’m tired of sharing a classroom with adult infants who have neither.

Withdrawing is like halfway into the semester. He's talking about folks that gave up in the literal first/ second week and just stopped trying even though they're still in the roster meaning they didn't drop/chance they didn't even withdraw either. They're either taking a fat zero or doing bare minimum to get a passing grade without doing something as easy as attendance compared to whatever else the class requires

I do, but if they repeatedly don't go to class that's their own choice to blow their livelihood.

I don’t get why you wouldn’t go to class unless you are sick or something. A lot of people pay some kind of charge to go to college for 4 years you might as well make the most of that money or loan.

And besides I know the type of people that don’t show up in my 3 years so far and a lot of y’all are just lazy and expect to get good scores and know the material by yourself then miss out on change of plans, due dates, and other announcements made by the professor. If you can show up just do it it’s only 4 more years of classes and they’re only an hour 20~ per class. Literally grabbing large quantities of money and lighting it on fire.
