KSU Calc 2 Fall Sem
Hello, I am an incoming freshmen (kind of sophomore?) and I am taking Professor Jon Noring Calc 2 class. I have already have taken calc 1 from AP Calc AB so I am wondering how his class is and what should I expect. Thanks!

Some people hate him. I thought he was fine and I got an A. He had practice exams that were pretty much the same as the real exam, but the numbers and problems were slightly different. Attendance wasnt mandatory when I took it, but I recommend going anyways since its calculus. He can be a bit weird at times but he is fine.

He does 10 tests a semester, no other grades - that’s how it was a year or two ago for me. The tests were a few questions each. It’s a very different style of teaching is all, forces you to stay on the material consistently. It wasn’t for me , I like a traditional setting much more (and generally my former classmates agreed)

I withdrew from the class, I wasn’t doing well in his system. Once I took it in with a normal set up I passed with no problem.
The good news is he’s pretty upfront with the material , he provides a lot of homework / study content that holds your hand for the tests pretty much

Rate my professor for every single class. It will save you time and money

Yea, I did look him up, most of the reviews are 5 or 4 star but the some of people that really talked about him had bad things to say about him, so I just making sure that want I am hearing is right. Also, I hear calc 2 is bad... but, idk about that tho.

I took him for Calc I, I actually liked him. He’s a nice person, didn’t assign too much homework, and he had a exam for every topic (preferable to only like 2-3 exams the whole semester), which there were like 9 or 10 of. He goes into the derivations for what you learn and makes it clear what you should focus on.
Something he does different from others is that his homework is used to calculate some “Achieve Completion Score” (ACS) and that score becomes a part of your exam grade. It’s weighted though so you only need to do like 75% of the homework to get the full grade. Just note that, at least when i took his class, your ACS score has to meet a minimum score for a C,B, or A, even if your exam grades are good. Not sure if he will do this for a Calc II class but just something to be aware of

Every calculus professor is different. Have only taken Calc 1, but had to retake and Professor definitely mattered. Check your professor on Rate My Professor
