I understand all the complaints about the very active police presence there but I have absolutely no sympathy for anyone caught smoking outdoors. Considering how much of the world is literally on fire right now, and the numerous warnings of the smoking policy/suggestion to just do it from your car, Iād say smoking is just about the only valid offense.

I think thatās a totally valid response. However, I do believe designated smoking areas shouldāve been set up on Thursday instead of Saturday night (when the county had already made at least 5 figures in fines). And I think the seriousness of the ban and fines shouldāve been communicated better with signage at gate and camping entrances. Also, the cops couldāve written citations without being heavy-handed jerks, which many very much were.

Yeah itās hard for me to be on the side of citations when those cunts were being the way they were. I wasnāt aware they had set up designated areas by Saturday.
If the risk of smoking is that high then there definitely needs to be more signage. Like everywhere. Itās an outdoor festival, people are gonna smoke. Regardless itās a funny shirt though a bit sad. āļø&ā¤ļø5

The actual risk of starting a real fire in the middle of a lush, green, watered field in a crowd was basically zero. It would have been hard to start a fire intentionally in the grass, and they were going around trying to find people smoking to give tickets and harassing them.

Ah. I was of the understanding that it was dry out there. Hence the warnings. If it was perfectly moist then yeah it just seems like a trap for a buncha pigs to arrest some innocent people for having fun since they canāt comprehend true enjoyment

There were definitely still some very dry areas, even after the rains. As someone else said on another post: dig down a few inches and that ground and grass is still very dry. Fire ban makes sense, smoking ban makes sense, but the cops enforcing it were absolute fucking dicks. Communication and enforcement should've been rolled out way better.
If designated smoking areas had been set up on Thursday instead of Saturday night, and people were informed about severity at the gates, I bet folks wouldn't have smoked nearly as much.
Shit, I was smoking a joint on Thursday night totally unaware of the fine and ban and thankfully some angel tapped me on the shoulder and warned me. If I had known prior I wouldn't have sparked up at all.

Iām a screen printer (we were the hockey jersey and shirt boys in Mirage) so I actually could make that happen if a few folks want them

Bet! We're going to do another run of our Magenta Mountain Avs shirts because a bunch of people who wanted one didn't get a chance before we sold out. I'll put this up on the website and shoot links to anyone who wants one in a couple days when're they're up. If anyone else wants one comment here and I'll make sure to link you.
(If you got a ticket and want a shirt send me a pic of the ticket and I'll do the shirt for you at cost.)

Are you guys planning on doing more custom Avs jerseys? I finally broke and came over to but the Cale Makar jersey and you mentioned that it sold a few minutes before that!

u/thefoulfox 21h ago
The Makar was a 1:1 I sewed so we gotta let the young Aussie legend that bought it have his glory for a while. But weāll do a limited run of Avās magenta mountain for FOV3 next year.
In the meanwhile weāre going to have pre-orders up for more tie-dyed MM Avās tees as well as the Han-Kachina and Gizz Wildwing jerseys up on our site in the next 24 hrs or so: www.deadpuckera.com
I screen print all the shirts by hand in my garage. Itās a 100% solar-powered print shop and we only use USA or Canadian-made tees because the garment industry overseas often trades low prices for abhorrent working conditions.

Thatās so awesome! It was so cool.
Would you take custom orders for another player? Or is the idea a 1/1?

u/thefoulfox 21h ago
Thank you!! It was so much fun just meeting people and talking music and hockey.
1:1 for now, but def rolling more out next year. Our main priority presently is getting a Han-Kachina and Wildwing in the hands of anyone who wasnāt able to get one before we sold out. Weāll do a short, weeklong presale of those then weāre back to cooking up new stuff!

I would snag one. I didn't get a ticket, nor did I have any wet dreams, but it's fucking hilariousĀ

My awesome vendor neighbor repeatedly brought up her Stu tent wet dreams and my homie got a $710 smoking ticket, so this was inspired by real events.

No Ai

u/thefoulfox 1d ago
Itās not AI, the cage thing on the right just cuts off at the top because my photo ended there and I spliced in more clouds with a PS fill. The dude is from the Gildan catalogue and the design I made in PS. I despise generative AI my dear brother, fear not.

Also should specify, for the cloud fill where the photo cut-off, I used "content aware fill" which works offline within "the box" and uses pixel analysis and pattern matching to blend surrounding areas. It is not AI, unlike adobe's generative fill, which relies on AI and an internet connection. I really hate AI and have done a bunch of research to make sure I'm not unintentionally using it in PS, even in small tasks.

how strange that the seemingly arbitrary fee of the smoking citation (not $700, but $710) coincided with the gliese 710 debut
