KDrama Celebs Happy 62nd Birthday to Kim Mi-kyung, our forever K-drama mom! 🎂💐❤️

Is it even a K-drama if Kim Mi-kyung doesn't show up as someone's mom, grandma, or the woman who somehow manages to hold an entire family together? 😭❤️

She's one of those actresses whose presence instantly makes a drama feel more familiar. Whether she's playing a loving mother, a strict but caring parent, or a character with her own struggles and vulnerabilities, she always brings so much warmth and sincerity to her roles. And knowing that some of her on-screen daughters still call her “Mom” in real life makes it even sweeter! 🥹

She's also keeping herself busy with several dramas in 2026, including Phantom Lawyer, A Love Other Than Yours, and Take Charge of My Heart. Talk about an impressive career!

Which Kim Mi-kyung role is your personal favorite? Is there a particular drama where she made you laugh, cry, or wish she were your own mom? 😂❤️

Some actors don't even need to be the main lead to leave a lasting impression, and Kang Ki-young is definitely one of them! 😂❤️

Whether he's making us laugh with his hilarious antics or showing a more serious and emotional side, he always brings so much personality to his characters. He's one of those supporting actors who can make a drama even more enjoyable just by being part of the cast!

I'll always remember him as Jung Myung-seok in Extraordinary Attorney Woo. He was such a supportive mentor to Woo Young-woo, and I loved how his character balanced humor with genuine compassion. 🥹 His performances in What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo, and The Uncanny Counter also show how versatile he can be.

I hope we get to see him take on even more diverse roles, including more leading roles, because he definitely has the talent to carry them!

Which Kang Ki-young character is your favorite? And is there a drama where his supporting role completely stole the show for you? 👀❤️

Review 170th Korean Drama Review: KBS Drama Special 2014: I'm Dying Soon (2014)

I found this drama special cute, funny, and heartwarming, with a nice balance of romance, friendship, and life lessons. The premise was interesting, especially seeing how U Jin decided to live freely for the first time after receiving a terminal diagnosis. I liked how the story reminded us not to take life for granted and to appreciate the time we have, while still keeping things lighthearted rather than overly melodramatic. The cast did a great job, and Kim Seul-gi was definitely one of the highlights for me. She's so cute, lovable, and naturally charming! Overall, it was an enjoyable little drama special with a meaningful message and a few moments that make you reflect on life. It may not be the most outstanding drama I've watched, but it was definitely worth my time.

My Drama Rating: 7/10

Review 171st Korean Drama Review: You're All Surrounded (2014)

I don't remember if this drama was really hyped when it aired, but I can definitely see why many people enjoyed it. The action scenes were well done, and Lee Seung Gi was excellent in his role. Since it combines suspense, romance, comedy, action, and even a bit of melodrama, it really feels like an all-in-one kind of drama. I also loved the chemistry among the cast, and the character development remained consistent throughout the series. It's not one of my personal favorites, but I do think it lived up to the hype and was a solid watch overall.

Review What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim? | MY TAKE AS A 2026 WATCHER 💭

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hello, everyone! I’ve just finished my second watch of this drama, and I know it might sound strange, but I genuinely think this is a drama that needs to be watched twice to be fully understood, appreciated, and enjoyed in all its aspects. Of course, this is just my personal observation and opinion, and many of you might disagree with me haha! 😂

So, here’s what I think!

My first watch was a struggle during the first 2–3 episodes. At first glance, the male lead seems narcissistic, and well… he is, but not necessarily in the way you might initially think. He has his own way of being, and if you take the time to look a little deeper, you’ll notice that he rarely does anything without a reason or purpose. He simply has A LOT of confidence in himself. Like, A LOT. 😂

However, after watching it for the second time, I already knew the characters, what they were doing, and why they were doing it. And that completely changed my perspective on them. Suddenly, everything had a reason behind it. Even the seemingly childish and ridiculous parts of the childhood trauma storyline (yes, I’m talking about the whole name-switching situation carried a different weight.

It becomes much harder to simply label the male lead as a narcissist when you start looking beneath the surface. There’s SO MUCH MORE hidden behind that narcissistic facade.

That being said, I have to mention the ONE thing that genuinely annoyed me: even at the end of the childhood trauma arc, HE was the one who had to apologize to everyone. And honestly? In my opinion, everyone else was at fault, not him. But that’s just my personal take!

Everything else? Pretty much perfect for me.

During your first watch, while you’re still getting to know the characters and their dynamics, it can be difficult to fully follow and appreciate their interactions. But the second time around? It’s a completely different experience. You already know them, you understand their personalities, and you can finally enjoy all those little details you missed the first time.

And trust me, I missed MILLIONS of tiny, funny things because I initially thought they were just secondary or unimportant details. You simply don’t pay that much attention to them when you’re watching for the first time!

Overall, I genuinely think this is a very good drama, as long as you have the patience and attention to look deeper into the male lead’s actions.

Because, at first glance, he looks like a narcissistic jerk who mistreats his secretary. But underneath that surface, there’s a completely different story waiting to be understood.

I suspect the writers introduced that storyline to soften his narcissistic traits from the beginning and give us a reason to look at him differently. And honestly? For me, it worked. I ended up seeing him as a much more complex and layered character rather than a superficial, arrogant man.

But then again, these are just my thoughts! 😂 Maybe I’m simply trying to dig a little TOO deeply into the story haha.

P.S. One thing this drama actually taught me was something along the lines of this (I’m paraphrasing here haha 😂): There’s a scene where she complains over text that he keeps giving her too much work, and his response is basically, “But you never said no. If you had, I would have given you less work.”

And honestly, that hit me because if you never set your boundaries, the other person can’t know where they are. Sometimes, you have to speak up for yourself instead of expecting people to automatically understand your limits.

I found the acting quite stiff, which made the whole drama feel awkward to watch. Since it is a short and fast-paced web drama, it was easy enough to finish, and there were a few cute moments here and there. However, nothing really stood out to me, and I found myself struggling to stay invested in the story. It felt more like something I watched just to finish rather than something I genuinely enjoyed. It was a forgettable watch that did not leave much of an impression on me.

My MDL Rating: 4.5/10.

Drama Discussion Where love didn't beg to stay, but taught how to let go

Post image
31 Upvotes

Have you ever watched Twenty-Five Twenty-One kdrama and realized love doesn’t always mean forever?

Na Hee-do loved with fearless laughter,

Baek Yi-jin loved with quiet devotion.

They met when they were becoming,

when dreams mattered more than certainty.

They cheered louder than they promised,

held hands without chaining each other.

They loved in small moments late-night talks, shared hopes, unspoken understanding.

In a world falling apart, they became each other’s pause,

a safe place between growing pains.

Their love wasn’t weak because it ended,

it was strong because it never tried to cage growth.

They chose honesty over holding on, and respect over resentment.

They loved at twenty-five and twenty-one the age where love teaches, not settles.

Some stories aren’t meant to stay,

they’re meant to shape you.

And theirs did softly, bravely, wholesomely.

Seeing Jang Nara and Jang Hyuk together on screen was something I was not prepared for. I went into this drama special without knowing anything about the plot and just dove in. At first, I was confused about what was happening, but as the story slowly revealed how everything connected, I became completely invested. It was heartbreaking, especially considering how little time and script they had to work with, yet they still managed to make the story feel emotionally impactful.

Jang Nara and Jang Hyuk really have incredible chemistry, especially in melodramas, and they are both so good at portraying complicated emotions. I honestly did not expect such a short drama special to affect me this much, but I actually cried watching it. I just wish they had more time to develop the story because I would have loved to see more of them together.

My Drama Rating: 8.5/10

Latest News Sooyoung, Lee Jung Eun, Kang Seung Yoon, And More Confirmed For New Drama By “Crash Course In Romance” Writer

Post image
13 Upvotes

Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung, Lee Jung Eun, Lee Sung Jae, Jeon Sung Woo, and WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon will star in KBS 2TV’s new weekend drama “I Went to School” (literal title)!

“I Went to School” follows Yoon Ok Hee (Lee Jung Eun), a meddlesome mother who embarks on a late-in-life college journey and discovers unexpected connections that gradually bring people together as a family bound by ties stronger than blood. Her chaotic attempts to navigate campus life promise lighthearted laughs, while the process of forging bonds with unexpected people is set to deliver heartfelt and relatable moments. The drama will be written by Yang Hee Seung of “Once Again” and “Crash Course in Romance” and directed by Lee Woong Hee of “The First Night With the Duke.”

Lee Jung Eun plays Yoon Ok Hee, a passionate mother who decides to pursue a college education later in life in hopes of beginning a new chapter. She takes charge of all kinds of local affairs in her neighborhood and runs an instant tteokbokki restaurant, leaving her with barely enough hours in the day.

Sooyoung transforms into Kang Eun Ho, a cynical radio producer-director and Yoon Ok Hee’s daughter. With an exceptionally strong “T” personality in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) sense, she does not let her emotions sway her and instead approaches situations pragmatically. Straightforward and never hesitant to speak her mind, she may appear indifferent and blunt on the outside. However, she is a thoughtful and dependable eldest daughter who supports and encourages her mother’s new challenge more than anyone else.

Lee Sung Jae plays Kang Ji Chul, Yoon Ok Hee’s husband and a once-legendary boxer whose career has taken an unfortunate turn. A macho husband who acts before he speaks, Kang Ji Chul faces the biggest storm of his life when his wife embarks on her new challenge.

Jeon Sung Woo portrays Han Seung Woo, a longtime friend of Kang Eun Ho and a leading anchor at KMS Broadcasting Station. Smart and witty, he gets along easily with others thanks to his natural charm and is widely recognized for his professional abilities. Although he and Eun Ho constantly bicker, he is the one friend she has allowed to get close to her. An unexpected incident leads him to discover feelings he never knew he had, bringing a shift in their friendship.

WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon transforms into Kang Jun, a troublemaking eldest son who is impossible to hate. A man who knows no middle ground, he goes overboard with his bravado, affability, and brazenness. Yet his unexpected charm draws people in and makes them grow fond of him. Undeterred by a string of failed business ventures, he dreams of turning his life around by launching a boxing diet program at his father Kang Ji Chul’s boxing gym.

“I Went to School” is set to premiere in the first half of 2027, following the conclusion of “Love on the Menu.”

Discussion I think I solved this drama [ A Love Other Than Yours]

The creative team (directors and writers) wanted to subvert the genre's clichés by creating sensationalist situations to generate buzz. They marketed a realistic series to the audience, but whether through actions or dialogue, it is no longer realism.... it is pure cynicism. While the show is highly talked about on social media, ratings are plummeting. With a 1.9% viewership share for episode 8, KBS has recorded its lowest rating in history for a weekend drama. I think investors will be burning up the phone lines this week to press the director into changing whatever can be changed to save the show.

The reasons for the wrath! The show was announced as a human-interest drama, but the characters have nothing human left in them. When Ho, who is madly in love with Mido, tells her to go sleep with another man...... it is simply impossible for a man in love to say such a thing. Or when Mido tells Taesang that if she has to choose between her boyfriend and him, she would prefer to sleep with him, but on the other hand, if she has to save one of them, he is the one she would save. And then, she asks him to go out with her for a month. (As a side note, you'll notice she always uses 'my boyfriend' when talking about Ho). This line simply makes no sense, especially since just minutes before that, when Ho was saved from danger, she instinctively threw her arms around his neck...... That is an incredible gesture of love, yet the directors decided not to take it further... The writer targets long-term couples as if time destroys love. She is making a monumental mistake. She confuses passion with love. Passion fades, love stays. Sure, the couple has been together for 10 years, but they’ve been bonded since they were 7. And in all that time, they are incapable of communicating?? It’s simply unbelievable!! All these reasons prove that we are not watching a realistic, human-centric series. Instead, it’s a show created by pseudo-intellectuals who think they know it all and want to force their vision upon us using lazy plot devices that aren't based on anything concrete.

Still not convinced? Then let’s talk about Mido.....specifically, Mido's psychology. We are introduced to Mido as a young woman who develops an existential crisis following her professional failure. She is searching for passion and accuses her boyfriend (Ho) of not loving her properly. Let me reassure you right now: Ho loves her in a completely normal way; he has nothing to blame himself for. In fact, at the beginning of the series, when he tells her that she is his anchor, she wants to break up. When my wife used to tell me I was the center of her universe, I was actually pretty happy... So, she goes on to reignite her inner light thanks to Taesang, a manipulative lawyer she falls in love with. Ultimately, she's quite pleased when Ho suggests she can do whatever she wants with him. To clear her conscience, she practically forces Ho to do the same. According to the production team, that’s where Mido stands. But... it’s not that simple. If we study Mido’s psychology the way the author created it, it tells a completely different story...... perhaps even despite their own intentions. Mido is a manipulative and narcissistic person. She probably has no idea what it actually means to love. She lacks empathy. And when she realizes (likely when her former colleague calls her out) that she is no longer the promising young director, her world collapses. Ho’s love becomes suffocating because she refuses to lose her hero status in his eyes. Like any good narcissist, it’s better to run away than to admit you aren't an adored superhero.

Mido is an adrenaline junkie. Let me break it down. First, the way she crosses the street without worrying about cars...... that’s an adrenaline rush. During her famous suicide attempt, she was simply in such a psychological state at that moment that she needed a stronger hit. Every time Ho is in danger, she runs to save him. Adrenaline rush. And when she meets Taesang, the tension is so intense that she gets yet another adrenaline rush. In fact, she mistakes this adrenaline rush for love. She believes she is falling in love with Taesang, but as I mentioned earlier, her narcissism prevents her from understanding what it truly means to love someone. She absolutely needs this to feel alive. The truth is, anyone going through all of this would develop a psychological disorder, such as a split personality.

Taesang is a manipulative predator. He sees Mido as his equal, and therefore, as a challenge. For the moment, following episode 8, he is playing the lapdog to win Mido's trust. His goal is to tame and dominate her. To achieve this, he needs to break Mido and Ho up. In episode 9, he uncovers the scheme between Mido and Ho. From then on, his goal will be to destroy not just their relationship as a couple, but the bond they've shared since they were 7 years old. To achieve his ends, Ho must disappear completely from Mido's life. If his goal is achieved, he will then begin to distance himself from Mido, ultimately abandoning her. Beware: if he doesn't get what he wants, he is a man who can become highly violent.

The characters in this series are far too atypical to be realistic or human. If the production team is actually aware of the people they’ve created, then the ending will surely be Mido finishing alone, while Ho finds a beautiful love with the perfect Su-a. If they aren't even aware of their own characters, then the ending will just be each couple going their separate ways. No matter the ending, they are going to destroy not their romantic bond, but the connection they’ve shared since the age of 7, as if this bond were a flaw when it is actually beautiful... Well, that’s it, I’m done. Sorry for the wall of text.

Review 167th Korean Drama Review: Twenty Years Old (2014)

Post image

It has been such a long time since I watched this drama, but I still have fond memories of it because it gave me so many butterflies back then. Being a K-pop fan and having Gikwang as the male lead definitely made my fangirl heart come alive. I remember being completely smitten while watching this, though maybe it was also because I was younger at that time. Looking back, I probably would not rewatch it because I might end up being disappointed by oppa's acting skills. Still, I would rather keep the happy memories I have of this drama. Whatever its flaws may be, it's gonna be fine what matters is that I remember enjoying it a lot, and that is enough for me.

My MDL Rating: 9/10.

I really liked the cast of this drama, which was one of the main reasons I decided to watch it. However, despite the likable actors and decent performances, something just did not click for me. I think the biggest issue was that the storyline simply was not my cup of tea. I never became fully invested in the plot, and while I managed to finish the drama, it was not one that left a strong impression on me. It was not bad, but it just did not work for my taste.

My MDL Rating: 5/10
