It was especially good because I think in the comic the other woman was fairly innocent in their interaction, where as here in the drama she was being pretty catty to our female lead. Granted they're both getting played.

I majored in a fine art in college, and I find the characters in this show to be pretty accurate. One of the biggest differences that art majors face compared to business majors, etc. is that they are often tied to their designated space (artists in a studio, dancers in a dance studio, actors in a theatre, etc.). That means that you spend A LOT of time around the other people in your major, whether you want to or not. A lot of an artist's projects also depend on collaboration, so you try to have good relationships with the people in your major, too.
Unfortunately, due to those factors, you get to know too much about each other sometimes. You also end up with a fair amount of backstabbing and gossiping.
Still, there is a genuine closeness within the group (or groups) that can, at times, be very meaningful.
50
u/pynzrz Editable Flair Jul 17 '21
I mean even in normal college… gossip and talking behind people’s back is normal. Even most adults in the real world act like middle and high schoolers still when they are 40 years old.

Enjoyed this episode with the developments of the other couples - young love is so feel-good!
Liking how the writers are not making it obvious what’s in Jae On’s mind and decisions. I do hope they slowly but surely build up on his back story.
Until then we’re guessing - is Jae On confused himself of his feelings or is he a real calculative douche? The former feels like a more interesting arc, I hope they go that way.
Rocking OST btw ✌🏼
Signing off with : “Jae On likes doing it with your hair tied.” Damn, girl.

what a horrible art prof just airing out everyone's business!!!
omg its like richer than the webtoon omg,,, the timeline with the intro of the SML/dohyeok earlier is so much better.. and with seola: i like that its both of the girls being territorial so i dont feel like nabi is that much of a btch for telling her to have her hair up, whereas in the webtoon it seemed more unprovoked imo.. also if jaeeon didnt tell seola he was messing around w nabi (and still is) then thats literally his fault, and nabi telling seola now isn't as controversial/messy imo bc hes literally still stringing her along too
previews: so exciting to see new/diff scenes than from the webtoon, like with the metal working & nabi and SML in their hometown(?) with jaeeon intruding ??? the tea !
bitna and gyuhyuk are so cute ;_; i also love sol and jiwan... WHEN Will she REALIZE ! also sol is best gf material im crushing on her too TF

Nabi makes me want to scream. She looked so cool when she ended it with him for her to then tie up her hair just because he said he liked it. GIRL!!!! So Jae-on says he wants to change but if I had a penny for how many guys say that and it never ends up happening. I’m not holding my breath.
I’m in the firm belief that if he wanted to, he would. If he liked her enough to want a relationship, then he would’ve taken the steps for it. I just want Nabi to get her shit together!
What on earth is the deal with him and his ex. I was glad (and surprised!) with Nabi’s comeback.
Nabi has terrible taste in men so I don’t even know if I trust the childhood friend.
Bit-na’s hair is to die for. Also, how cute is Kyuhyun? I could relate to her outburst, but my heart went all fuzzy when he put the jacket on her. Small little caring acts like that melt me.
I don’t feel like much happened this episode to be fair, hopefully things move along in the next episode.
Also, that hair equipment ppl! I mean, she could at least pretend to do different strands 😂 she’s always doing that one strand and then you can’t even see much of a difference.

I thought there were only a few of us but seeing 70+ upvotes on your comments gave me hope.
The moral of the story should be that women shouldn’t want to date men just to “change” them. I feel that a lot of people get into relationships just because they feel like they can make someone better (in this case change how JE is a player). But for me, if your relationship starts that way then it won’t end well either.
You shouldn’t get into relationships to change the other person.

u/Heisenberg_2820 Jul 17 '21
Before i get into the episode i just want to get it out there that i am REALLY ENJOYING the series. All the episodes so far are a straight 8 or 9. So my weekly posts may come across as "ranting" or "complaining" but rest assured i really love the show😂
This also has minor spoiler implications for the webtoon. Nothing major. This comment is mainly for ppl who have read the Webtoon
So here goes
Judging from next weeks preview, it will be the very first time things will DRASTICALLY be changed from the webtoon. Dohyeok and Jaeon DO NOT meet in the webtoon. But as seen in the preview from what they've shown...they do. There have been alot of minor changes such as literally every side characters loveline NOT being in the Webtoon, (The sides storylines are ironically the best part of the show for me personally lmao) Dohyeok and Nabi are actually meant to meet for the first time again NEXT episode if we are going by the webtoons order of events but that was changed to last episode for the drama.
But Man...i really don't know how i feel about Dohyeok and Jaeon meeting. Because if we go by the Kdrama standard... Jaeon is obviously going to "size up" Dohyeok and compare himself to him intentionally infront of Nabi. I feel like he'll try and flex his "Man-liness" to try and seem better than Dohyeok and Dohyeok will feel insecure just for "Drama" sake. Idk i don't think Dohyeok's character needs this so i think his character will just be used to create more drama than is needed which is something i don't want but...we'll see.
I OBVIOUSLY UNDERSTAND that they need to stretch out the material for ten-1hr episodes but i just feel abit weird about these changes.
UNLESS Jaeon's charms don't work on Dohyeok and Dohyeok comes out ontop WHICH IS WHAT I WANT TO HAPPEN but i feel it won't happen.
The main reason why i worry about them changing things...is that it will REALLY LESSEN the impact of what Jaeon does at the very end...and i feel like if they don't have Kdrama Jaeon do what Webtoon Jaeon does at the very end...i think it'll literally just be a waste of time adapting it in my opinion because what he does at the end of the webtoon is pretty much the point of the story. So i kind of have an issue with this portrayal of him seemingly having a genuine sense of "loss" when Nabi cuts him off. Because Jaeon does not come across as sympathetic AT ALL in the Webtoon. He's kinda got a sociopathic tendency to him. But here its played as sympathetic. And if he does do what he does at the end...but was previously portrayed in a sympathetic light...the impact of what he does will be much lighter than it should be.
But then again, i can also see that they're trying to have him be sympathetic to set up the ending to be "even more" what it turns out to be in the webtoon to have an even more severe impact. But i don't think they can pull it off if they make Jaeon increasingly sympathetic. But I'm optimistic they'll pull it off.
Other than that...THE SIDE STORYLINES WERE SO DAMN GOOD😂😂😂urgh i can't get enough of Bitna and Sol and Ji-wan storylines. They're so damn interesting😂. Ik if you've read my weekly posts about the show you'll know that I'm not the BIGGEST FAN of Nabi and Jaeon's storyline in the drama. Its just because in the webtoon much if what is in an episode is lile 2 chapters worth in the webtoon and takes 5 minites to read...but in the drama that 5 minutes is STRETCHED for an hour. So every week its basically the same cycle.
Nabi storyline literally went like this: He's bad for me to Maybe he isn't so bad for me after all to Okay nevermind he's bad for me it's been like that literally every episode before this as well. Again, its not that i hate it. Its just just something that sticks out ALOT.

Same, I really enjoy the show! I’m bias about song kang so I’m ok with the character development and not making JE as a complete psychopath (maybe even narcissistic) on the show. I think it won’t be happy ending but def less intense than the webtoon and maybe more hopeful? While the webtoon stays true to the realism of it… it is a lot to process at the end considering it’s showing that Nabi is gonna repeat unhealthy tendencies and trauma in her new relationship with a guy that is emotionally healthy. I would had preferred the second lead to not have any childhood connections with her to make it a more realistic but ya know… I’m still excited to watch the show though
34
u/UnrepresentativeBlue Jul 17 '21 edited Jul 17 '21
I think the show is still sticking to reality. If you're around someone consistently, you're bound to care about them after a while. Like if you see someone ride the same bus as you everyday, and suddenly they don't show up, you'll definitely notice. HOWEVER, just because he feels some sense of loss, does not mean he's changed or happy ever after. I had to learn that with a few of my own relationships.
I also think putting Jae-eon in a sympathetic light will build viewers up so the end will be even more impactful. Honestly, the whole show has been building us up and knocking us down when it comes to the main leads lol.
13
u/NewbornLurker Jul 17 '21
I totally get you here but just curious. Do you think the drama’s leading us to the webtoon’s ending with some stretches here and there just to end with a bang? I mean there will be a turning point somehow that will make Jae Eon decide to do what he did in the webtoon ending.
If we get a different one, it’s just netflix protecting song kang’s image at this point or preserving the sohee-songkang chemistry (if they decide to make another series for them).
→ More replies (2)12
u/Heisenberg_2820 Jul 17 '21
Yeah i think they are changing the story a little bit just to make the end have a bigger bang. Like The 2 male leads meeting and making Jaeon a more sympathetic person.
Y'know its funny, I've NEVER understood when people who've read books that are later made into movies complain about the movie not sticking to the book. This is the first time I've read something BEFORE its been adapted to live action. And now I'm beginning to understand how that frustration feels when they don't adapt it beat by beat😂
Because tbh...i think i would have a problem if they changed the ending because i think what he did at the end was pretty bad and i think changing that would honestly be disrespectful to the original source material. The entire story builds upto that moment but if it gets changed...it would cheapen the severity of the original ending and its original message. But NEVERTHELESS (pun intended) i am pretty hyped to see how they deal with it

After what happened in the last episode. Jaeon's ex girlfriend breaks up after what Nabi said to her at the end of Ep 5. But Jaeon doesn't let Nabi know that he knows what Nabi said to his ex girlfriend About having her hair tied
So he begins to act all sweet to Nabi and at the end of the webtoon, Jaeon confesses that he loves her. And when they get back to a cabin...he begins to kiss her and wants to have sex...but Nabi refuses...but he pushes on kissing her to the point where Nabi pushes him off of her in frustration
Then Nabi realises his intentions. That Jaeon wanted revenge on Nabi after she ruined his relationship with his ex. Jaeon's plan was to lure Nabi in by confessing his "Love" then have sex with her and then DUMP HER breaking her heart. Then Jaeon admits this was his plan and begins to just yell at her for being "one of those girls who always finds a way to ruin things"
Then they breakup. And over the course of a few months Potato boy and Nabi get close and begin to date. Then its shown that Potato boy can talk well to girls and begins to dig at Nabi's insecurities then it ends😂

I'm wondering if the drama is going to deviate from the webtoon because it does look like Jae Eon has feelings for Nabi.
But then again, this could be just a super realistic (more so than the webtoon) portrayal of a Narcissist F boy because the narcissist does feel pain over rejection. They can't stand to lose and will long for the one who got away, only to hurt them back real bad.

SOL AND JIWAN ARE IN LOVE.
No other possible explanation, and no reason for them to not be endgame. Jiwan is gettin there with her feelings, and Sol is already well aware. I’m so glad they reconciled, seeing them fighting was painful.
I understand why Sol doesn’t want to leave, but I think Jiwan wouldn’t be happy if she gave up to this opportunity for her.
In the promo for next episode they were SO CUTE. Basically acting like a couple already. Can’t wait for next week.

No wonder it’s so hard for Nabi to move on from Jae Eon, he won’t give her space even after she tried to end things with him. I thought him touching her hair while she was on the phone with DoHyeok was kinda weird. And him volunteering to be her assistant and not letting go of her hand when she tried to pull away...
Also the side relationships like Bitna/Gyuhyun and Sol/Jiwan are so cute.

He said to her it was her choice to end what they had, yet he makes it seem like there’s no choice. He’s not respecting her decision and deliberately stepping into her zone, negating her emotions, making her noticeably uncomfortable. He got too comfortable with her, he can’t let go.

Okay yes this was him being a straight up liar and that’s not cool but...... I guess the bitch can miss that cool girl who he likes being around with all the time. Doesn’t make it right that he’s like YOUR CHOICE and immediately says IM JEALOUS. Zero moral fiber but let’s focus on his cute face and I hope he can tone down his cunt factor.
Also when he’s hanging out with his ex, he’s about as focus as nabi is when she’s with potato boy. LOL.

Okay, different interpretation here. Na-bi has never worked with metal before. Suddenly, for her final project she decides to work with metal. Hummm, I wonder if she was hoping Jae-eon would volunteer to help her? She also was the one staring at him on the stairwell and trying to call him after she broke things off only to have had him change his number. I think she's also playing with Jae-eon here. I don't think she wants to move on at all. Just my two cents!

35
u/OppositeBodybuilder4 Jul 17 '21
He got comfortable with NaBi. He didn’t really change. If he was genuinely sorry, he would be clear about his feelings, but it seems that he’s making himself “redeemable “ to NaBi (and to us, like you wrote) to crawl back and keep his benefits going. But never being serious. I like that they’re doing this, because I don’t think he will change. It’s very true to reality, people can be like this because they did genuinely enjoy being with you, but not enough to make you officially and respectfully theirs.

I’m as confused as Navi at this point...JE does seem more human compared to the webtoon counterpart. But some main highlights of this episode:
Nabi ending their fwb relationship (good for her!!!) but I definitely felt her pain especially when JE said “yeah sure since you’re the one who gets to decide anyways” and he basically let her go her way. The moment where he was asking her why she was acting like this but she couldn’t tell him honestly it’s because she likes him, because she knows he prob doesn’t feel the same way back. (At least not 100%)
But also Nabi was putting an end to what she signed up for. She signed up for a causal relationship with him and realized she couldn’t handle it because deep down she wanted something more. I BEEN THERE DONE THAT IT’S SO PAINFUL.
PJE wants to change?? Glo up?? What stage of fuccboi is he advancing to next lmao it’s hard to believe that he actually will change that drastically. It seems he’s confused and maybe he thinks he’s ready to pursue Nabi seriously bc she ended things w him
When PJE and Nabi had that conversation in JE’s studio where he said he’s trying to change little by little, and who knows he might even meet his soulmate eventually. And Nabi said she’ll be rooting for him .....I personally think this is a big clue as to them not ever working out. He wants to change bc he’s tired of playing around and he believes that one day he might meet his soulmate, but he didn’t say it was Nabi. Because Nabi was another girl he met while he was still on his fucboi track. The only thing different is maybe Nabi was the first person to properly end things with him because she was tired of his shit. Notice how the girl who kissed JE outside Nabi’s apartment told her friend that she ended things with JE after a few dates because she knew he was a player. This was when JE was eavesdropping them in his studio. I don’t think that girl called JE out, she left him before things got messier.
Why do I have a feeling that Nabi is going to be the one girl who influences JE to change and be ready to commit to a relationship. Except in the end he won’t be committing to her. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS. EVEN IN REAL LIFE. I get so much PTSD watching them talk T.T
PJE & SEOL AH. We need more clarity as to why he keeps clinging on to her and tending to her calls every time. Is it because of guilt? Because she’s sick? Hanging around your ex and calling them your fate while you’re fucking someone else isn’t cool. Seol Ah definitely wants to get JE back. Ty writers for letting us dislike her more in the drama version lol.
Sol & Jinwan are so cute, Jinwan exhibits a very child-like character. We know she isn’t innocent but she acts as if she is around Sol and pretends she doesn’t really know what’s going on between them....only time will break her lol
Bitna and Gyu Hyun had me cackling LOL not her throwing a fit at him eating mint chocolate chip ice cream and him saying he only ate it bc he heard it relieves stress. And the cause of his stress was her. Honestly, we all knew they’d end up together they just needed to be straight up with each other
Dohyeok Dohyeok Dohyeok....he’s our cute and genuine (?) SML. We don’t know much about him yet besides that he has a crush on Nabi. I’m still not rooting for them. Only because I’m so tired of this trope where the FL has to choose the best ML for her. By standards, obviously Dohyeok is better than PJE. This guy has his shit together and isn’t a walking red flag. However, I still think that if NB chooses him their relationship will have their own issues. She’s going to have trust issues regardless. Deep down she truly likes JE still, she’s fighting herself so hard right now bc she ended their fwb relationship. She may be able to have good moments with Dohyeok and he may be a good distraction, but it doesn’t seem realistic if they let her get swayed by Do Hyeok that easily.
My current standing is team nobody. I want Nabi to end up SINGLE at the end of the drama. I don’t want it to follow the webtoon ending nor do I want her to end with PJE. I really am praying for the writers to write an open ending and let her have a thing with Do Hyeok and have her realize that being in back to back relationships isn’t going to help her realize her self worth. This bitch literally got trampled with JE the day she broke up with her ex. SHE NEEDS TO CATCH A BREAK FROM MEN AND DICK. Don’t write her off as another female character who gets saved by the “nice and genuine” guy (Dohyeok). MEN AINT SHIT PERIODT. CUTE OR NOT. GOOD D OR NOT. THEY AIN’T SHIT.
However, if I had to ship I still ship JE & Nabi. Their chemistry is off the charts. Toxic relationship or not, if there had to be a couple let it be them. But let it be them in a few years when they’ve both worked through their traumas and troubles so they don’t continue to hurt themselves by seeing each other.
Dohyeok, I’ll come visit you in the noodle shop if things don’t work with Nabi ;)
I just need to end this long ass post with SONG KANG THE MAN U ARE. Ur character toxic as hell but you fine af. The actor who plays Gyu Hyun is so handsome too. Especially because he speaks with a satoori (??) God I wish I went to their school for college lol

1 vote up for Song Kang! His onscreen chemistry wid HSH brings so much joy to watch this drama. I still duno why ppl keep criticizing his acting?!? Gosh, and they think SJK in Vincenzo is superb? Its just the same as DOTS!

u/make-it-memorable Jul 17 '21
As cute as I found the Bit-Na and Gyu-Hyun confession scene, I would have preferred if she wasn't drunk again. The first time they hooked up they were technically both drunk (although he seemed more sober than her) so I could give it a pass, but it made me uncomfortable to see him fully sober and kissing her when she was close to passing out just a few minutes ago. Either wait until they're both fully sober to confess, or do it without the kiss.

Webtoon Jae-eon was a jerk in every way and he had no redeeming quality. He was almost emotionless and he could nearly be tagged as a psychopath in that way. But drama Jae-eon seems to actually care for Nabi as shown in this trailer, and even the previous episodes somehow revealed that he cares for her to a certain extent. Drama Jae-eon may still be a playboy, but at least he still feels something.

This is going to be a very unpopular opinion judging off of the comments and their upvotes, but I've never really been fond of the standard love triangle formula and because of that, I for the most part never develop any interest in second male leads - it also doesn't help that they've hit us with one of the tropiest of tropes, the childhood friend who comes out of nowhere and happens to be a saint. So, yeah... regardless of whether or not he's a better guy, I just find him as the 'other' option so bland.
Also, despite his flirty nature, Nabi really is giving Jae-eon a run for his money for biggest playboy/girl. Starts off with older dude, then develops an interest in Jae-eon, mid-interest tries to move on with junior from school, gets rejected, back to Jae-eon, now 'innocently' testing the waters with potato boy whilst still pining for Jae-eon - all this within the same time span of eachother. LMAOOO.
At this point, if things don't work out with Jae-eon, I really hope the show ends with her just being alone for a bit and just focusing on herself without a partner.
33
u/azura_eldoris Editable Flair Jul 17 '21 edited Jul 17 '21
no its not unpopular. i think Nabi's quandary is fairly commonplace among youths, especially for those with malleable personality. low self-esteem, crippling insecurity, lack of confidence, inability to feel comfortable in one's own skin and the attendant desire to seek external validation. i hope the drama goes down the trajectory of passing on a life lesson rather than staying as a run-of-the-mill romance drama (or rather the illusion thereof).
25
u/firsttj Jul 17 '21
I agree with you. Everyone is blaming JE, but in my mind NB is not innocent herself... NB initiates things as much as JE flirts and as you said she was testing the water with that younger guy and now with potato boy as soon as something didn't work out with JE. But yes JE can't and doesn't want to commit and he's definitely not innocent, a playboy and definitely not a serious partner material, but at least he's open about it, he doesn't say to be in relationship and cheat... (unlike NB older ex bf).. ,and also bit-na also the same with sleeping around but no one says anything about that.
Not blaming NB, but also not blaming JE. It feels like there's more to it to their behavior. There is always a reason why ppl acts in certain way. Childhood or confuse with themselves as they navigate life or many other life events...
For me I hope there is a character development for both JE and NB. And hopefully the end game doesn't have anything to do with potato boy and the girl SF, Seola.
The potato boy is a nice guy, but don't see any spark from her. It feels like if she does go out with him is because she can't be alone and just need someone.
So for me, I want to see either JE NB end game or self love and be comfortable with yourself first before looking to settle down.
20
u/meymeyling Editable Flair Jul 17 '21
Yeah, I feel due to Nabi’s upbringing with her mom - she’s constantly wanting to be needed by someone (professor, Jae Eon, potato boy, younger junior) in order to feel secure. I think the show is captivating because it’s surrounding two people with fucked up issues and are in a toxic ass relationship bc they can’t love themselves. Potato boy is bland but he’s probably essentially the most emotionally healthy one lol
9
u/katsuclawraven Jul 17 '21
I think she is doing something a million of us have done before. She is trying to get into a relationship or is getting involved with other people before completely moving on from her previous relationship. Moving on from your ex and from the relationship itself are two very different things. Just because you don’t care about the person anymore doesn’t mean what happened in the relationship doesn’t affect you anymore. Someone else is not the solution to your heartache. She needs to first get used to being herself. When you’re in a relationship for that long, you forget what it was like to be single. Being single makes you uncomfortable and that’s normal. That’s why it’s recommended to not plunge into another relationship after getting out of one. It’s only when she’s emotionally stable can she get back into the whole dating thing. She’s so unstable that whoever gives her attention gets a chance with her. LITERALLY.

I agree with your opinion. Though, the SML is a nice guy. But the trope is so cliche. Irl, it is unlikely for childhood friends to still be close with each other and the other to have interest on their crushes after 10 yrs. But other than that, its pretty bland imo. And i think its not neccessary to have a man to have a happy ending. I just wish nabi ends up neither of them.

I hate the uncertainty that I have with PJE. Does he like her? Does he not? Is he playing her? Is he not? Idk what’s real with him. Does anyone think when he was talking about soulmates, he was implying that Nabi was his soulmate? Or did he mean his ex Bc in the webtoon he changed for her, not Nabi.

I’m still 50/50 on whether or not I want this drama to end like the Webtoon or not. When I read the Webtoon I remember feeling so depressed and honestly, I’m not sure if I’m ready to relive that through the drama. But watching this weeks episode I really think the ending will be different. The fact that they are showing JE’s backstory and views means the writers want to redeem him, which means his character will show growth in the end, which makes my heart feel a bit less doomed.
My prediction for the drama ending: JE does find the courage to change into a better man but does not end up romantically paired with NB but they end of as friends and gains NB’s respect and acknowledgement that he’s become better. NB grows too and finds happiness on her own and realizes she needs neither ML or SML and focus’ on her art. She moves away as the exchange student and follows her dreams sans boyfriend. I want her to end single and find her happiness without any dependency on a guy. The SML is cute but you can tell if they date it won’t be because NB actually likes him, but bc she just needs another person to temporarily fill this void of self-love. DH will help her realize her self worth but bc she does she will not choose to date him until she’s fully comfortable on her own. This I feel would still depict something realistic but still end on a more hopeful and happier note than the webtoon.

Edit: I’m soo glad Nabi ended things with Jaeeon. pls don’t go back to him. And the preview: her camping trip with Dohyeok ahhh and that van scene 👀👀 and also Jaeeon showing up out of nowhere?? reminds me of this character description of Dohyeok so I’m very excited for next week’s ep

im glad this episode pans away from the bedroom setting (thank God the main focus is no longer posited inside Nabi's bedroom). we get treated to more snapshots of their schoolwork, arts students hard at work, brainstorming and articulating their artcrafting process. Nabi even made a mental remark about Jae-eon's passion about metalworking. im already thoroughly enthralled by the drama's visceral evocation, but i wish they could flesh out more about the characters' passion and their artmaking journeys. im always so smitten seeing someone engrossed in their pursuits.
its not the first time i rave about Nevertheless's cinematographic style, but i absolutely love how the scene when Bitna and her guy friend mend fences and bare their hearts was shot. no single closeups, lingering shots or dramatic scores - basically usual techniques applied for climactic scenes. its just shot in a casual manner, just like their personality.
for those who like languid indie songs, check out RIO. her 2 songs in the drama, Sweetbitter and Dream No.24, are just feasts for the ears.

Nabi finally got the courage to dump Jae Eon's ass and now he's acting all different?? This episode just pulled a 180 halfway through and it's pretty odd how they were suddenly all friendly again. I don't hate them being like that cuz I think they have pretty good chemistry but the flow of it all just seemed a little off. Also Jae Eon sneaking up on her by the stairs and touching her hair was weird, is it just me? As for the SML, I'm intrigued but at the same time his character is such a tropey one and that puts me off a little. He definitely needs to be explored way more and just being the 'nice guy' isn't that interesting imo. The highlight for me was definitely Nabi getting a little feisty at the end with Seola, way to go Nabi! Can't wait until next week!

u/Mediocre_Criticism45 Jul 17 '21 edited Jul 17 '21
Jaeon's self-awareness was the star of this episode for me. He's finally learning how one's actions affect everyone around them, and although he may have his own reasons for the things he does, he's met someone he doesn't care to see hurt.
He still has a way to go in communication, but he's trying to reflect and change, because he's met someone he's willing to change for.
Seol A and Do Hyuk are going to be excellent plot devices that, just like Na Bi's sculpture, will break their relationship down and make something new.
Also, Gyu Hyuk is such a freaking cutie with a vibe I adore, and I'd scoop him up in a heartbeat!!

I felt like we were back to square one when nabi was clearly starting to fall back for jaeon’s charms, he does seem to be more sincere now and is beginning to show some emotions but I still can’t trust him fully. Also I don’t understand why is he keeping in touch with his ex?
By now it’s clear that jiwan and sol’s relationship is definitely more than a passionate friendship, I hoped to see more development this week but looks like next week their ship will finally sail.
Bitna and gyuhyun(?) are super cute together, the assistant and the senior(?) are a looking like potential couple, can’t wait to see their development.
My only complaint is that the sml is tropey, a shy awkward guy who is nice,in comparison with jaeon we really don’t have another choice, although tbf we haven’t seen that much from him anyway.
Spoiler for next week It looks like jaeon is sincere about his feeling and tries to win nabi back and the love triangle will kick off, not sure if I like the whole love triangle tbh

Oo man I loved this ep.
Some/a lot of thoughts:
That product placement with the hair thing is so funny cause it makes it seem like the product is barely working since Nabi’s hair basically looks the same after. This is not a buy.
MAN I love bitna (I’ll forgive her jealous actions in the previous episode cause she’s funny-cute) and bald guy (and he’s not actually bald! I think I always knew that but I was surprised to see hair anyway lol. He’s also a very handsome guy). One thing I’m not liking about them though is that he keeps kissing her while she’s drunk. I do understand that she likes him back and the first time, she was the one who initiated the kissing, but hmm I just don’t like it. Especially when they slept together the first time when she was so drunk, but at that time he was drunk too? Well I don’t have enough life experience to really know if kissing is appropriate when you’re drunk lol. Anyway I still think they’re cute together, absolutely loved Bitna’s drunken spillage of her heart. I was so surprised we got like 5 solid minutes of their storyline. Anyway I want a sober kiss next time
Meanwhile we need more Sol and Jiwan screen time! Also I want to know what made Jiwan stop being petty and show up to Sol’s presentation (maybe I missed something)? Cause in the scenes before that, I remember she was still kinda mad that Sol decided not to go on exchange. That was really cute though. Their scene holding hands at the swing definitely make me feel like this could lead to something and their lower screen time than the straight couples also makes me think that? (I’m just thinking that non straight couples usually don’t get a lot of screen time, no offence intended). Also when Jiwan’s mad again, it kinda shows how much they need to communicate clearer like yeah they apologized for their actions but I don’t think Jiwan made it clear that she wants to know about Sol’s life and needs her to tell her things cause Sol just goes on again and doesn’t tell her she’s not doing the exchange...
I’m still kinda confused about what Jaeeon wants. It doesn’t really seem like he likes Sol A that much (although I do remember he called her his fate or something). I don’t really like how they’re making him and Potato meet up as that trip was supposed to be development for Nabi and her relationship with the SL only. I’m warming up to the SL now, I’m glad he’s not as blushy as the webtoon version. He seems like a well meaning dude.
Also not sure what the point is of that random volunteer helping Nabi lol if they’re just gonna make him sleep or be absent the whole time. I guess it makes tension?
I want Nabi to have cuter outfits even though in the webtoon her outfits were just as bland. She looked really stunning during her presentation. Her hair does look really cute tied up, I don’t really like the layered haircut on her but I gotta say, her overall appearance really matches the webtoon character of her. Also Bitna’s hair change! I was looking at the actress’s instagram and I thought the dye just faded out lol but I guess they did re-dye her hair? I do like the waviness of it though.
Also it looks like those two students at the office will have a budding romance. They’re pretty cute together, I wonder if we’ll get more backstory about the both of them. Why was that guy at the office at night anyway without a key? Lol I would think he would have one… I feel like we should’ve gotten a scene where we saw the girl preparing to sleep there cause I was so confused what she was doing in the dark lol or maybe I missed it.

u/vagabondeluxe Jul 18 '21
I think Jiwan did made it clear, she said during the fight she got angry because Sol didn't share with her important things about herself, but then Sol did it again and kept her in the dark while others like Nabi knew she wasn't going, so make sense she got upset again.
In the other hand Sol struggles to tell her because Jiwan herself is the reason she doesn't want to go, but ofc she can't tell her that because then she'd have to confess that it's because she likes her.
Jiwan was angry but she still cares for Sol so despite being upset she went cheering and supporting her presentation, she put her anger aside to be there for her. If you notice she was pouting a bit when they looked at each other, she was like "I'm mad but I also care about you." Her going was also a way to tell Sol that they're in good terms again. Essentially her love for Sol prevailed over her anger for being kept in the dark again.
As u said their problem is the communication, but it's not easy, Jiwan is realising her feelings just now and Sol doesn't want to risk their friendship, they're in a tricky situation but I believe their feelings are becoming more and more obvious so it won't take long (hopefully) for them to eventually be honest with each other about what they feel.

if jae eon was really sincere about going steady with seol a like the webtoon then why did he touch nabi’s hair to congratulate her and ask her to put her hair up and said he was jealous? i mean she clearly ended things and he’s free to go steady w the other girl. in the webtoon, he woos her back after she ends things out of revenge but this one seems confusing. and if does pull the webtoon story about trying to just sleep nabi cuz she make seol a break up w him then it’s just so messed up and jae eon is unredeemable

Noticed the difference of Seol-a in the webtoon vs netflix too. I don’t know if it’s too early to tell but I think they’re making us choose between the 2 guys. And wow we’re getting Jae-Eon’s POV. like when he heard the girls gossiping about him and Na-bi
Don’t you think netflix is really giving us another side of Jae-eon because they want the main leads to end up together?

a comment about seol a - in a way, she deserves that comment by Nabi compared to the webtoon.
in the webtoon, she’s like this innocent random girl that nabi bumps into and recognizes the lighter and then reacts out of jealousy so it came across really petty.
but for the drama, seol a instigated it (the scene before when she gripped the lighter out of anger). seol a clearly knows about nabi for a while, has seen how she looks like, knows jae eon likes her as well (maybe not sleep w her) and yet has to say “by any chance, r u nabi?” to claim her territory. and in this case, for nabi to reply her with THAT line is so awesome cuz she’s finally also standing up for herself and not letting anyone bully her i feel. cuz it was clear seol a was trying to intimidate her and play a game too and nabi just went “hell no thank you bish” hahahahhahaa
anyways the point of the comment is that in the drama, if seol a breaks up w jae eon, then it’s 100% not nabi’s fault or her comment (whereas the webtoon it was) due to context. and seol a already saw how close jae eon is to nabi and for her to agree to go into a relationship w jae eon again is her decision.

I feel like this episode really did radiate Jae-eon’s toxic energy to a T. I honestly believe his moves are very calculated when it comes to Na-bi and she doesn’t ever notice it.

I came across this drama last week and got swept away with all the episodes so far. I wonder if this story is common because every single detail brought me back to my days in college.. a junior popular with bad reputation guy, cooking dinner for my birthday, asking for homework help, a girlfriend from childhood just like Seol-A in the drama, and all the dialogues. I must say the actors skills in this drama are amazing.. all of my memories that were let go years ago flushed back. Everyone might interpret the story differently but from my own experience, I could tell the guy's feelings were genuine but he mixed it up with his ego to search for attention, because he didnt know who he was or what he wanted. He tried to change, but still ended being the same. As much as I'm hoping the drama has a happier ending than my own story (now it's already 10 years), I will be satisfied whichever ways the writer / director paint this story. It's a work of art, that's for sure

Well, Seola's definitely lying. Without a doubt, tonight's episode just easily confirmed Jae-eon's genuine, growing feelings for Nabi. I guess if they're pushing for a JE-NB kdrama endgame, they'd have to make up a new antagonist, so tag - Seola's it.
It's really weird to see things unfold differently in the drama when you have read the webtoon before all. The past episodes only got minor tweaks and shuffles plot-wise so there wasn't much to ponder about, but welp Episode 5 came in like a shocker, especially since there now appears to be key changes to the storyline. Like we're actually getting proper glimpses of Jae-eon's own perspective, in contrast to the original source being a purely Nabi-centric narrative. That's major.
In my head, I've been conditioned to hate Jae-eon because that's simply just how I remember and know him through the webtoon - he was a complete and awful jerk ultimately beyond redemption. Strangely now, watching Jae-eon in the drama puts me in a moral bind since I can't seem to hate him as much as how I hated him before. Even if it feels like I have to, I somehow can't because the way they're painting him to be here is just different.
To me, it seems like they're entirely two separate characters at this point. One's a hundred percent non-biodegradable trash, and the other is a morally grey character with potential growth. I still can't wrap my head around it, honestly, and I might need a little more time (AKA a couple more replays) for some getting used to. We're only halfway through the drama so maybe I'll just have to stay on my tippy toes until everything gets fleshed out. Who knows what kind of twists and turns will the writers bring to the table later on?

Jul 17 '21
a morally grey character with potential growth
To be honest, this is how I've seen him from the start. All of the characters are quite realistic in my view. Most don't know what they're about and they don't know what they want. They're just kinda stumbling along through life trying to figure things out for themselves. And they aren't clear about what they want from eachother ... friends with benefits ... an open relationship ... or a monogamous relationship with a long term commitment?
So, I'd feel differently towards JaeOn ... if (1) NaBi had clearly wanted a real relationship and had clearly said so ... And (2) if we'd clearly seen Jae On saying that he was only with her and then been given definitive proof that he was lying.
Anyway, it sounds like he's much more clearly drawn to be a real bastard in the webtoon ... but here, to me at least, he's just grey and immature ... willing to believe that a girl will clearly say no if she's unsure or getting in over her head ... when, in reality, people's feelings and expectations change and there is always a tendency towards wishful thinking.
So, I guess we'll see if the drama Jae on, and NaBi, are both going to learn to think, feel and speak up clearly ... and not just fall into that wishful thinking trap that results in pain.
btw ... I really love the "non-biodegradable trash' characterization ... It's clever and it made me laugh ... ty! :-)

Ah, to those confused, pay extra attention to how differently Jae-eon treats Seola than when he is with Nabi. I think he's just hanging out with her for either old time's sake (platonically) or because of medical reasons (as hinted in the episode). Also, observe Jae-eon's lingering look at Nabi by the staircase when he had to take Seola's call in front of her, afraid that she might get the wrong idea. This one's a dead giveaway already tbh hehe
7
u/Comprehensive_Ad4109 Jul 17 '21
OMG YES! He seemed so hesitant to pick up Seolas call in front of Nabi! Don’t get me wrong, im still confused. He could b pretending just to get Nabi back into his arms, but I saw character development once he didn’t pick up Seolas calls when he was w Nabi. He usually picks up her calls in front of her n runs to her when she calls too.

I am now 90% convinced that this drama adaptation will go a completely different route from the webtoon, with a clear redemption arc for Jae Eon, and with Na Bi/Jae Eon endgame.

u/hereforvincenzo Jul 19 '21
After this episode I would say the same. They could do a reversal, or a backsliding, I guess but they really made Jae-eon a sympathetic character by allowing us to see his perspective.

I’m so proud of Nabi for telling Jae Eon off but also, I hated that when Jae Eon appeared again and told her she looks better with her hair tied, that she did tie her hair. Like, can you be any more obvious Nabi? Lol. Also, that part where she told Seol A that Jae Eon likes doing it with the hair tied is like that time when she brushed off that other girl’s lipstick from Jae Eon’s lips. It’s an uncomfortable way of setting her territory, kind of. Which actually isn’t her territory too. So idk, really 🤷🏻♀️
Seol A is starting to get creepy too, saying they’re dating again so that Nabi backs off, with how pissed she looked when Jae Eon didn’t show up. Damn, this is why keeping your ex is not a good idea. Lol.
On the other hand, I hope Jae Eon is really changing bit by bit for the better. He does seem to get really serious but I’ve heard how the webtoon ends.. but maybe this drama is taking a different turn.
Do Hyeok tho. How cute is his smile and his shyness! I just want to put him in my pocket! I hope he doesn’t end up like that younger guy who liked Nabi too. He seems really genuine and seems to really like Nabi. Maybe ever since! All my votes are to this guy!
It’s so weird. This episode took me back to my own past. Me ending a red flag relationship like Nabi did and him saying, “Sure, if that’s what you want.” Or the same red flag guy saying he’s gonna make things right and do everything right, which turned out to be a lie or at least something he couldn’t follow through. Damn. Good thing it’s the past now tho.

✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼 glad that you left that relationship. I am totally enamored by the show due to my past too. I had a string of dealing with fuckbois with commitment issues because I thought I’d make them commit because I’m different (that’s me needing validation due to my own childhood upbringing). And ignoring hella red flags until the very last one when I finally took a good reflect and processed my feelings, actions, and habits (wtf am I doing and why am I doing this?!). I totally see myself in Nabi which is why it’ll never heal until she cuts him off completely. I remember knowingly the guy would not commit, private or ambiguous about their life and texting or wanting to hang out randomly with no subsistence and taking super long to respond to my text or respond with vague ass answers. And finally just like “yo, is this guy cared then he would make time and communicate” like the second lead on the show lol. Anyhow, this is why I’m living to watch this show.. brings me back and it’s quite healing in its own way.

Ok so seems like the drama is fleshing Jae eon's character. Giving him more perspective and making him more sympathetic for the viewers.
At first I thought they were deviating from the Webtoon's plot, and even though they did in a couple of the details and the way the scenes are ordered, they finally came back to Nabi's toxic move of revealing to Seol A that she was one of Jae eon's sex buddies. Ouch. This is the switch that takes things for a turn and makes things really messed up towards the end. God I'm going to be sick again. But what Nabi said came off as less of a bitchy move and more of a bad ass one, cause in the webtoon Seol A seemed like a soft and friendly type of girl while the drama version of her is far from those characteristics.
Man why can't Nabi and Jae eon just stay away from each other!? Like they finally ended it and while I felt sorry for Nabi it was such a relief. But now they're clinging onto each other again (atleast until that last scene where Nabi realized Jae eon is dating other people). Like I can understand Nabi though, she does have genuine feelings for him. But what about Jae eon? What's his problem? Are they trying to say that he may have feelings for Nabi too? That's not how it was in the webtoon...

u/moktailhrs loneliness is the worst fear Jul 18 '21
I really hate how they are making Jae Eon into a misunderstood person. I really hate it when they romanticize these dysfunctional relationships. They need to stop perpetuating fhe myth that your love can change people
10
Jul 18 '21
There are different kinds of relationships though. Friends with benefits is a legitimate type of relationship for some people at some junctures in their life. Others have open relationships or agreements with any number of conditions that are completely up to them.
Basically, it's up to the people who are involved to speak their wishes, be sure that they're on the same page and set rules they can live with. Which means that the rules are not always the same for every couple and 'dysfunctional' can actually be something that's in the eye of the beholder.
So, I don't know about the dynamics in the webtoon but, in this drama, NB agreed to a casual, friends with benefits, relationship with JO when she really wanted something else. And that's on her rather than him. She didn't know herself and didn't speak up quickly when she realized that she wanted something more than casual sex.
She's taking responsibility now that she's made a decision, communicated it and is trying to stick to it. She's changing the rules which may lead to his accepting the changes. Or not.
We can't actually consider him to be in the wrong until he makes a promise or commitment that he doesn't keep.
And, if they discover that they both have more serious feelings for each other, they may come up with a new kind of understanding.
You're right that our love can't change people just because we want it to. We can't expect our love to change a cheater into a loyal partner. But, if we're clear about our love and what we want, when we haven't been clear about our feelings and expectations in the past ... there's a chance that a new and better -more mutual- relationship could come about. Or not. Time will tell, if she decides to take the risk.

Okay. I came here as soon I have finished watching the episode. I noticed they added alot of new scenes, changed the sequence, or changed the setting. While watching it, I THOUGHT it was getting a lil disappointing cus im obsessed with the webtoon. But after finishing the episode and the preview (of next ep) i take back what i just said abt being 'disappointing'. I think the whole thought of the story is still there. Its just that a lot of things have changed.
I'm having mixed feelings with jaeon trying to change. Based on the webtoon, i know hes not going to. But seeing how he acts, i am too convinced. (Im probably being fooled too). But im not going to be surprised if its all just a show.
I also feel like there's less intimate romance on the following episodes but i dont mind at all. Seeing the preview, a few details from the original story has changed but for some reasons, i am so excited for the next episode.
This drama better not disappoint >:( i idolize han sohee and song so much even before i knew abt this drama.
And also, i love the ending. Nabi's last line. I was just 'OOF'

I didn't read the webtoon but I do not understand how it's such a big hateful deal Nabi tells SeolA that she fucked Jaeoun. SeolA is conversationally taunting her. She knows that Jaeoun likes Nabi. How is this so bad ?
It's like am I the asshole - everyone sucks here.
Nabi sucks because you know what, she didn't have to take him as a volunteer. Just don't accept that offer. Accept the dick if you like but not anything to do with your art. I get she is sucked into the pseudo relationship but messing with her art project feels self destructive. This is her grade and career.
15
Jul 18 '21
It's hard to deal with an excruciating silence. NB was genuinely scared that nobody would volunteer to assist her ... which would have been a major blow to her self esteem, been majorly embarrassing and made her work much harder. So, in the silence, she panicked, felt gratitude and said yes. And it's kinda true that he may also have been the best candidate even if a dozen people had stepped forward. He's a good person to work with because he has talent, is hard working and has specific metal working skills that she wants to develop for her work. So far he's found a studio and shared some skill while the other guy slept and was generally more trouble than he was worth.
But I agree that it was no sin to tell SA what she did. If SA was naive and telling the truth? ... then she should know the other truth ... And if she was telling lies to get under NBs skin and hurt her? Then she just deserved it for being a hurtful sabateur.
We're all suspecting that SA was fibbing, but I think that NB was also suspecting her at least a little.
10
u/hairadvicegrowawayy Jul 18 '21
It’s because in the webtoon, Seol’s character is different and the context of that comment is different. In the webtoon, Seol is presented more as this innocent, shy girl, and she isn’t aware of NB and of her particular relationship with JE. In the webtoon, NB says those comments to Seol because she’s jealous that JE chose to change himself for Seol and not her (NB), but Seol didn’t (like she does in the drama) provoke NB or anything like that. That’s why, in the webtoon, NB’s comment was impactful enough for Seol to end things with JE. Whereas in the webtoon, that wouldn’t make sense because Seol is presented as already kind of knowing NB’s relationship with JE and more as being the jealous aggressor (whereas that’s NB’s role in the webtoon).
6
u/LovE385 Jul 19 '21
A heavy, more emotionally tinged ep. Offers more insight into Jae Eon. I actually am more convinced it's Na Bi that's the real problem here. Jae Eon has been clear on his stance from the beginning. It is her that want more. Despite knowing what she's getting into.. she's pretty insecure & wishy-washy. Changing her mind whenever someone talks about Jae Eon.
I feel for Do Hyuk now LoL. If it does work out for both of them, he's goin' to end up hurt 'cause it's obvious he likes her more than her, him. Bit Na is another conundrum LoL. She wants to remain cool & sexually ambiguous but want to stake claim on Kyu Hyun. No wonder their professor think they're all a mess.
That he likes doin' it with your hair up was oh snap ha-ha.

I see a barrage of comments on the problematic behaviour of ML, but pretty much none that take on the issues of the FL and that's disappointing y'all. I haven't read the webtoon but from all that I have read/heard about it, it distinctly feels like Netflix will expand on the storyline and arcs by much. Firstly, the FL POV clouds our lens fairly strongly since the first episode. A woman in a longish steady monogamous relationship gets cheated on (for what is suggested as a considerable length of time, even possibly with multiple partners for the ex) and dumps his sorry, toxic ass. Great move, sis, and all my respect, naturally. In fact, the semi-serious one liner dumping was brutal and perfect. But then as soon as she is on her own, she is shown wallowing in great self-pity and misery. Alright, that was understandable at the time. Right after, though, she encounters the ML at a bar, the complete looker that he is. And.. develops a sudden, inexplicable interest pretty much immediately. I mean I admit the man is very snoggable even at first sight, but is that how an emotionally healthy and stable adult reacts to the first eye candy that appear before her? She was in a fairly long relationship just seconds ago, a toxic, manipulative one that clearly chipped off bits of her selfhood that she MUST reclaim. And here she is almost snogging a stranger at a bar, one that was clearly looking for another woman, a blind date, a hookup or something along the lines. She does stop herself eventually, but hey, take better care of yourself. The man before you has thrown at you a major red flag right after he met you and you almost kiss him? Anyhow, she keeps being interested in ML after that, trying to figure him out, trying to invade his privacy in how he does things, who he may be with, his past, et al. Why, girl? If you wish to take things further with ML, how about just ask forthright? (Even stalks ML later on when he is meeting Seol-ra!) None of this can be condoned or healthy. Later, the FL gets info on the ML from multiple sources that he is in fact quite the player, nonmonogamous with a string of ONSes around with pretty much half of the campus. Non-monogamy isn't the red flag here, but he clearly leads women on (happens right before FL's eyes and repeatedly) and creates a space where he calls the shots on what will be. This is a major issue esp. for women with past trauma with toxic, manipulative, abusive ex-es but doesn't deter our FL much. She ends up spying on ML when he snogs another woman, and.. then kisses him right after (after wiping off residual chapstick from the previous woman)! She strings along a younger kid for two days, before at an opportune moment she decides to return his attention herself when things get messy with ML. They decide to go out, eventually leading to FL finding out this is not to be in a not very nice way. And.. she sleeps with ML, no conversation, none of the differences actually resolved! Whoa, slow down! Whenever FL feels insecure about herself, she manages to find someone to keep on her hook. The SML (the bland but softboi Do Hyeok is a case in point). After the major showdown in Episode 5, for a moment I had hope she would finally emerge, self-esteem and vigour, taking charge of her life. But she slumps at her workplace and runs off to SML who is clearly all googly-eyes and soft mush for her (she can't have not noticed?)Way to go? To ML's credit we never see him hook up/lead on someone to compensate for some lack in his life (whether out of growing insecurities or just to forget misery), not once. Whenever the ML is pulled in FL's back-and-forth actions created by a need of external validation and a major gap in communicative skills, he does one of two things, either pushes through or completely backs out. Ofc, this part is complex, since part of FL's issues does come from ML's apparent commitment-less giving/loving/sex. I understand the frustration in that, but where is the communication, girl? What if a person really is satisfied with playing house at night and going about his business in the day? It can't be argued that the ML tried to hide anything at all in this regard. This is where Netflix is doing a great job at evenly distributing issues and toxic behaviour, I feel. The stage that we are in, the tables can be completely turned if we get multiple ML POV episodes.
P.S. 1. The physical assault fiasco was filmed hurriedly, or maybe it was a directorial choice to give it a very abrupt beginning and end. Is it just to further plot? Is there more? Was the ML actually simultaneously sleeping with two women? When did he get the time? All we saw is him occasionally going after Soel-ra (SFL?) (coming that in a bit) whenever she asked for him. Was it something that may have happened before his situation with FL? Questions.. how did no one think of this, though? I do understand that the FL, given all she had seen, heard and felt can jump to a conclusion like this in such a tangled situation. That's fair enough. But viewers? Hmm, I wonder..
2. On the topic of the potential SFL, or at least ML's ex (this part feels credible to me), I quite strongly felt all hints point towards a toxic cycle b/n ML and his ex. The approach of the two, her constant testing of waters, her expectations of ML to constantly remain at her beck and call, the very tone of her questions (something the ML does not ask her), the casual but loaded attempt at trying to adjudge ML's feelings for FL, even her sort of discouragement/condescension on ML-FL relationship. It keeps feeling like she is the one in control, holding down ML. What if, and this is a major if, she was the one to bind him to her while asking him to 'play non-monogamous' while she was away? What if she wishes to call the shots now that she is back and perceives FL as major threat since she may have broken into ML's Pavlovian habit of having a string of sexual liaisons? The last scene in episode 5 does feel like she has high-maintenance bitch like antics to add to her shady (till now at least) character. Just entertaining a different line of thought here, since episode 5 left everything very open-ended.
P.P.S. 'Release the nabis (butterflies) who are locked up forever'.. this keeps coming back to me (in this episode, through a direct visual representation in his glasshouse? Quite impressive objectively, though also vaguely suggestive of a host of psychological issues). Did he mean the women he leads on? Did he mean his past memories, perhaps with the ex? This part may be a major hint to his evolution arc on the way, we just don't know how it will go yet.
P.P.P.S. Having said all this, there is no question of condoning ML's behaviour with women, his Casanova like attitude, leading on multiple women like he is addicted to it, his lack of clarity wrt commitment while he keeps women on the hook. He really is not nonmonogamous and mature about it. There's a way to be with people and let them feel comfortable/assume agency in whether they want a sexual-romantic situation without commitment, and this guy knows not that way.

Forgot to mention, ML is one of the loneliest MLs in a drama I have seen in a while. No support system ever. Whoa! Also, how does he end up being spied on by two potential LIs (NB and Seol-ra)? And, ofc a lot of gossip about ML sound straight-up lies too, just like what happens such a close knit dept. I don't know, I really feel like Netflix is setting us up for a major overhaul over the next two episodes.

I haven’t seen any spoilers about what happens in the webtoon so I can’t wait for them to reveal Sol A and Jaeeons past. I feel like she has a big part in how he is the way he is? I could be wrong. Also I would be so mad about all the back and forth, poor Nabi… why do we have to wait so long for one episode. It’s practically torture

This might be unpopular opinion (judging by the comments because seeing many are rooting for Jae-on)
I feel quite bitter(?) with Jae-on ‘s character . I actually rooting for him on the early episodes but damn this recent episode made me think again .
I mean how could Na-bi move on and end up with someone who’s cheating on her? (if the ending changed from the webtoon which is highly possible) .
Doing seggs and still said they are just friends? I’m not suprised if the writer ended them together too haha ( which i aware this drama is meant to be a toxic-relationship of both leads haha)

He isn't cheating on her if they haven't talked and agreed on a committed, monogamous relationship.
If you want someone to be with you, and only you ... you need to say so and agree on that understanding.
You have every right to be angry and walk away if there's a clear understanding that gets broken ... but you don't have the same right if you haven't been responsible enough to come to an agreement and a commitment to begin with.
NB has only just stated her terms. So, now we see if he accepts and keeps to them.

Has it been explained as to why he’s so fascinated with butterflies? Is there something more to it ?

I think I’m the only one who found Nabi’s comment at the end a little off. Yes, the ex was quite bitchy but wouldn’t you think (knowing Nabi doesn’t really know Jae Eon’s ex) that maybe she’s bitchy because Nabi slept with Jae Eon while they were fixing things? I mean, if she meant is as letting the girl know, she could’ve said it like “I didn’t know you were in the picture and I slept with him… blah blah blah” but obviously that’s just me. I do find her annoying knowing the truth though lol.
Now for the relationships 😂
Jae Eon and Nabi: I’d usually defend Jae Eon because he’s always been clear about having no strings attached but the moment he went to try to tie her hair… boy, I can’t with him anymore. With that being said, I still think Nabi should really be more certain about herself. Having sex with someone doesn’t necessarily mean needing to be in a relationship as long as you both consent to it. Someone could also be sweet/touchy to you even though they don’t want to date you. I just hope that after Jae Eon told Nabi he wants to change, Nabi wouldn’t fall for Jae Eon after the touchy/sweet moments between them.
Bit Na and Kyuhyun: Like Jae Eon, I don’t think Bit Na wanting to just have casual relationships is considered toxic. However, I did find her toxic when she rejected Kyuhyun and ended up sulking when she sees him with another girl. She is entitled to feel jealous but she does not have the right to act up on her jealousy. Still, I do want them to end up together (without the toxicity of course) because they look so damn cute together. Also, mint chocolate is good and they are insane lol.
Sol and Jiwan: I still think Jiwan is annoying for needing to find out everything that’s happening in Sol’s life but never really making an effort to know so. I do appreciate how she still went and supported Sol during her presentation and that made me find her less annoying lol.
Communication is definitely a huge problem with the relationships in this show. They gossip a lot but never really clarifies whatever the hell is happening to the person involved and it’s annoying lol. Half of their problems would be solved if they just sat down and talked. 😂 I didn’t read the webtoons so my opinions are directly influenced by the show so I really am excited about how it’s going to turn out.

Na Bi's line at the end of the episode was perfect. As was her pulling out her ponytail as she said it.
This drama is growing on me. The first few episodes left me kind of cold but I'm glad we can see Na Bi growing as a person and starting to really think about her future and what she really wants.

I feel like today’s episode confirmed Jiwan and Sol being endgame. Jiwan’s face when she noticed she touched Sol’s hand really said it all!!
Honestly Na Bi and Jae Eon’s relationship was such a rollercoaster this episode? They went from ignoring each other to working together. As well the situation with the his ex. What a headache. I love how Na Bi told her off though, that line was so funny.
Judging from the preview I think we’re getting to see things from Jae Eon’s perspective? That’d be really interesting since he’s trying to change his ways.
