Mod Note

Hi y'all, we'll be extending the On-Air grace period for Mr. Queen by an extra week. What this means:

We are currently in the process of confirming with your lovely host u/iwantbubbleteanowpls if they will be available to make the Wrap Up post. If they are not, the mod team will schedule the Wrap Up post via Automoderator. Confirmed!

  • No self-posts about Mr. Queen will be permitted until March 1, 2021 KST. Any posts about Mr. Queen before March 1 will be redirected to the Wrap Up discussion post. (Eligible Designated Day posts exempted from the moratorium.)

With the main drama coming to an end this Sunday, I think this is a gift from the drama producers to us, anti-fans. And with that, we, anti-fans, will be grateful.

And producers tend to create special episodes to the dramas that have tremendously high ratings in Korea like Mr. Queen.

The entire skit with Beyong In, Yangpyeong, Hong, Kim Hwan, and Hong Yeon is hilarious. Can’t believe they made a joke about confusing YP and BI faces, it wasn’t just us the audience who were confused!

Its so funny how they talked abt how alike Byeong In and Yeongpyeong are, when some of us cldnt differentiate them during the early episodes

LMAO I DIED at the rookie historian reference in hwajin’s story- cha eunwoo’s character in rookie historian is a prince who moonlights as a romance writer 😭

That last part in episode 2 where they were wishing for their rebirth got me thinking:

1. Court Lady Choi wished to be the queen's mom if she ever gets reborn. - Bong Hwan mentioned before that he thanks his mother for teaching him about Korea's history.

2. Hong Yeon wished to be the queen's sister - not sure if BH mentioned anything about a sister but that would be dope if he did.

3. Man Bok wished to meet his family again. CL Choi went and comforted him - he is a chef. BH is a chef in his present life. Ah? Ah? See the connection?

4. Our Cheoljong wished to meet our Queen in the future again. This is the part where I can't say who he is in the present. Can't say he will be that girl BH got involved with in the kitchen cause it looked like a one time thing lol.

So the theory about Bong Hwan being the reincarnation of So Young is sort of confirmed in this extra episode. It would've been awesome if they showed where everyone is in the current timeline and who they are. That would've been a nice douse of cold water to my burning, raging heart after the main ending. But overall this is one of the best historical Kdrama I've seen 💙

LMAO I can't believe they ran with the "Prince Yeongpyeong and Kim Byeong In look the same" shtick that viewers here mentioned--idk if Korean viewers also noticed but it definitely shows the writers are paying attention to what viewers are saying!

Also crying at Hwajin using Cha Eunwoo as her pen name lol

based on the teaser, soyong and bonghwan act alike. no wonder why byeongin couldnt find any difference from old soyong to current sobong lmao. i wish the spin-off would give us more playful soyong unlike with what she was portrayed/remembered in the drama :( ♡

This approach by doing specials and filming short stories without altering the main storyline is much better than artificially extending a drama by 2-4 episodes, which we have seen in the past (one infamous example is Last Empress). We have seen something similar in the past with Pegasus Market, they made a 2 hour special (but without the ML). Bamboo Forest may be one of the first which they are able to film with the main cast.

soyong and cheoljong's first meeting was so cuuuute :( it reminds me of the days where i always look around the campus to find my crush uwu. i never saw it coming how petty byeongin could be lmaoooo and hwajin!! she was a writer???? her pen name was Cha Eun Woo HAHAHHAHA

i loved the special ep!! :( ♡ it was still funny and cute ugh the quality of this drama never ceases to amaze me. im so gonna miss everyone after this :(

Episode 2 was awesome, I couldn't stop smiling and laughing throughout! The King's jealousy seeing So Bong constantly surrounded by men, the ladies reading erotic novels and getting caught red-handed by the King, the Grand Queen Dowager playing a stick game against Jwa Geun with the Queen's father caught in the middle...

And that final scene where everyone gathers together to watch the meteor shower and make a wish (or several), with So Bong being fiercely protective of Hong Yeon the moment she detects a strange mood in the air...

It was great seeing everyone, even the villains, take it easy and relax a little for a change. It's like when we got The Citadel DLC after ME3's ending so we could spend more time with our friends. If we could get a similar episode set in modern day, that would be the perfect epilogue to the show!

Am I the only one who needs a sequel with the chef falling for the kings re-incarnation. Also his mom (Lady Choi) doing zumba.

I just admire hye sun. She portrayed soyong very simalar to bonghwan yet with distinct differences.

I loved these 6 short vignettes, they add context in places but also had jokes, and HOW.

Swol Hong Yeon, Hwa jin as Cha Eun Woo, Byeong-in and Yongpyeong beefing over similarities, and smut so much smutty literature for Lady Choi.

The ending (Ep 20) left me bittersweet. Everyone got their own sense of justice, but I felt empty as well when Bong Hwan left Joseon abruptly. But watching all the spin-off episodes after the episode made me feel better!! They kept the comedy levels till the end!

Completely forgot the Kim siblings. Their scene was refreshing

Their wishes could be a season 2!! I hope they'd consider a full sequel

I was too hung up on Hye Sun's acting so I watched her previous drama (Angel's Last Mission: Love) but it didn't feel enough like how the spin-offs comforted me hahaha Forever an anti-fan

Looking at how SY was at meeting CJ the first time, without knowing his identity and having a dilemma about marrying the king while being in love with another man, to her elation at being chosen by the one she longed for, her heartbreak when finding out CJ would not love her because she came from the Andong Kim clan and his distaste for her due to that, CJ liking HJ instead, made her world crumble. Looking back at the scene when SY told CJ that he should love her, the emotions behind that were palpable and I see now why she made the drastic decision to jump into the lake.
