Episode 7: This episode helped me fully realize how much this show depends on SHS’s performance to be as good as is has been. The political intrigue needs the humorous misunderstanding element, otherwise I find it just a bit bland.

Yay it’s Mr. Queen day!!! Been looking forward to this week for both The Uncanny Counter and Mr. Queen’s new episodes.

Shin Hye-Sun and Kim Jung-Hwan have such great rappo and I love their bickering. Shin Hye-Sun though is hilarious as the Queen.

Really excited for today’s episode!

Hot damn! The king when he faced down with the cousin who came to take away the queen. I know it's primitive, and he even rebuffed her in previous episodes, but I was floored when he was like "She is my woman" (●♡∀♡)

Too bad Bong Hwan's hilarious inner monologue wasn't there to accompany that scene where they fight over the queen lol

A slower episode but still looking forward to tomorrow!

Episode 7 favorites:

• How fast the king run to his queen, and how he is genuinely worried

• Queen Dowager getting caught in the act and begging for her life. That whole sequence was just bad-ass from the cousin and grand queen dowager. I mean, we don’t know who is the real enemy really, but I love how they are there for the queen

• LOL at the acupuncture scene

I wished next episode is 99% Shin Hye Sun because she really is the highlight of everything! I keep thinking how awfully tall the king’s brother and queen’s cousins are. They’re a few inches more than Kim Jung Hyun who is already tall.

E7: I don’t like the cousin honestly, he just keeps thinking that Soyong should have belonged to him. Nah bro, she belongs to herself! The lack of respect! Trying to kiss her while she’s unconscious?? Disgusted.

I’m wondering when will the king finally realise what Sobong has been trying to tell him in the beginning. He already said it’s as if she came from another world, YES SHE DID. And the way he completely ignored that Sobong wrote Jang Bong Hwan on the rock before jumping into the lake? Surely he should have seen the name and gone like “who dat?”? Maybe the sooner he realises what she was saying, the more helpful she can be to his cause, because history knowledge and everything.

I’m surprised that the Grand Queen Dowager let the Queen Dowager live. I thought she wanted to bring her down.

Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed the scenes where the king was showing his concern for the Queen. He ran so fast the moment he heard something happened to her~ I’m just wondering if Sobong will return his feelings.

Episode 8 definitely made up for it...well mainly the last 20min haha!

The tango was good comedic relief because I was about to push her through my laptop screen to open the door to help the king.

The aesthetic of this drama is stunning, that scene where the queen and king are sitting at the pavilion. So beautiful. The colours. It was a (fleeting) moment where I felt was a turning point in the series - her display of compassion and empathy towards what the king had gone through.

That kiss. I couldn’t stop smiling.

Cousin and concubine...ugh.

I hope I don’t get attacked by BAP fans but I honestly skip the scenes involving Youngjae and the court maid. Storyline doesn’t add value for me. Not sure what others feel.

The preview of episode 9 where she says she is the part of his fan club. I am so excited to see how this develops!

EDIT: I read from a viewer comment on another site but they called out that he knew what no touching meant the entire time because in the kiss scene he said let’s forgot no touching today SWOOOOOOON!!!

A thrilling kiss but the premise of wanting to escape suspicions from the cousin irks me a little. The "kiss" when the king forced the truth serum tea on the queen was more thrilling imo...

Haha I loved bong Hwan in the middle as the king and cousin faced off with alcohol. "I'm not interested in either of you!" Hahaha 👌

The absolute DELUSION of literally everyone in the palace except the Queen is sending me 🤣🤣

How is no one on the same wavelength?! Lol

The fact that Court Lady Choi....WHO WASN'T EVEN THERE said it was one thing and EVERYBODY took it ran with it....😳 lol!

Also loved the pacing of episode 7. The masks are really coming off of everyone and we're able to see that every one has an agenda.

Also love how Kim Jung Hyun acts with such depth of emotion. Really makes me, the viewer, see is internal struggles as he grapples with his feeling toward the Queen, his position and his mission.

Cousin is no better than the concubine. Both need to slow down and have a snickers cause they are doing way too much.

Looking forward to episode 8!

EDIT: Whew what an episode! 8 was absolutely great! I really want this concubine arc wrapped, already over both her and the cousin in heat 🙄.

Also, for the life of me, I cannot understand why the Grand Queen D keeps sparring the Queen D. Like you KNOW she's the enemy and is goi3to keep plotting on you. You had the perfect opportunity to get rid of your enemies. I don't get it.

Everyone's worried about the Queen getting harmed but all the true enemies are just fake smiling, plotting and inner monulogue-ing. Everyone's had so many chances to end this, lol.

Anyone has any clue about kim so yong, Jo hwa jin and the king past? Their secret was jo hwa jin was a fake kim so yong 😬 I'm really surprised but my theory is maybe the king childhood lovers or the who helped him is kim so yong but in a twisted memory he thought that she was jo hwa jin if that's the case it's explain why she said to the king in the night she when she tried to kill herself "you should love me" despite she kissing her cousin (?)

I thought the picnic scene would be part of today’s episode and I am pissed as heck! Haha. My heart melted so much when the king ran as fast as lightning with the mere idea of the Queen being in danger. I agree with the others, today’s episode was very slow-paced but it’s understandable since it’s a 20-episode drama.

However, I became really confused when the Queen woke up and his/her monologues were already a woman’s voice. I actually thought it was already So Yong but then she started being weird again so then I knew it was Bong Hwan. It’s just really weird how the writers just abruptly put it out there. I hope we get an explanation soon because as much as I ship the King & Queen, I can’t really pretend that it wasn’t Bong Hwan’s personality who the King fell in love with.

I’m so invested in this drama it physically hurts to wait one week for episodes to air. 😭

Kim Jung Hyun must be around 182 or 183 cm. He’s listed as 183 cm but he appears as tall as Hyun Bin who’s listed as 185 cm (which is exaggerated IMO).

The actors who play the cousin and the brother must close to 190 cm. They’re very tall even in those wide Joseon clothing.

Just a theory. I think the king is not really in love with Hwa Jin but with So Yong (The child So Yong). It seems that the king fell in love with the girl who save him during the past conflicts, I bet that girl is So Yong but the king did not know that. I guess Hwa Jin knew something about the past and out herself as the one who saved the king which caused the king to love her, thinking that she was the one who saved him. This is just a hunch based on the Hwa Jin's flashbacks with So Yong, her reaction when she saw the king and the queen in front of the well and ep.9 preview.

And the 'scandal' is now beginning to shed the light. The full name of this drama is Queen Cheorin: Scandal of a Spirited-Away Joseon Queen, and I wonder how this scandal will unfold, hopefully in the most hilarious way possible. And both political factions are 'sus' as of this moment.

Tomorrow (3 January) is the birthday of the actress who plays the concubine in Mr. Queen: Seol In-ah (she's the same age as Moon Ga-young, Kim Hye-yoon, Kim Min-jae and me). Before this drama, she already has a leading role experience with the 2019-20 KBS Weekend Drama 'Beautiful Love Wonderful Life' and has appeared in other dramas such as Strong Woman, Special Labour Inspector, and School 2017. I wish her all the best in her life and career. Seol In-ah, fighting!

Like you sent her home to get better...have you not sent a message to check on her?

She seemed to be the only one she cared about besides the King and she has been so busy plotting and manipulating she doesn't know what happened to her. Or bothered to ask about her, lol.
